The Wire Fox Terrier has a strong, athletic body and a short, wiry coat with a soft undercoat. Although he is very much the same as the Smooth Fox Terrier in behavior, the Wire Fox Terrier does show some interesting differences. Similar to the Smooth, he is feisty, lively, and very independent, but tends to be a slightly slower learner than the Smooth, perhaps because of his more distractible nature. He is intelligent, cheerful, and gets along well with children. He is a great ratter and makes a wonderful pet. He has a very high prey drive and is more dog-aggressive than the Smooth. This dog is perhaps the most combative terrier aside from the Bedlington. He is wary of strangers, makes a good watchdog, and tends to defend himself if provoked. He likes to bark and dig, sometimes incessantly and should not be left in the yard for a long period of time. Training should begin early and be consistent. Though he is an intelligent dog, some commands such as the “down” and “come” may be difficult to teach to this willful and stubborn breed. …show more content…
He weighs between 10-20lb.
History and origin: He is a separate breed from the Smooth coat, although they are the same in conformation. He was used in the 18th century in England as a bolter of foxes and as a ratter. This breed was derived from the wire-haired terriers around the British coalmining areas of Durham, Wales, and Derbyshire, where he had existed for some time before gaining popularity. His first appearance in the show ring was in 1872. This breed was responsible for the development of the Kromfohrlander, a guarding and hunting breed in Germany.
Feeding: Recommended feeding for this breed is ½ - 1 can of high quality meat product (13.3oz size) with added biscuit in similar amount or 1 ½ cupfuls of a complete dry

Brief History: The Boston Terrier, sometimes called the “American Gentleman” can trace its ancestry from the mating of a crossbred Bulldog/terrier called Judge, which was imported to the United States from the United Kingdom in 1865. In time the English and Staffordshire Bull Terrier were added to the mix through breeding.
Some breeds today can be so similar, it can be hard to tell them apart. A prime example of this can be the American Staffordshire terrier and the American Pit Bull terrier. There are many similarities and differences to the American Staffordshire and American Pit Bull terriers. The breeds, in fact, are so similar most are referred to as just “pit bull”. Both the American Staffordshire and American Pit Bull belong to the same breed known as the molosser group. The differences between the two are found in their body and head size, power and agility, and temperament. The similarities are found in their history, lineage and popularity throughout the years.
The Urocyon cinereoargenteus is also known as the Grey Fox, which is a medium-sized carnivore. “The gray fox is 1 of only 2 extant members of the genus Urocyon (the other is U. littoralis, the Channel Island fox)” (Bozarth). It is very interesting that foxes share the Canidae Family with “wolves, dogs, coyotes, and jackals.” (Habitat).
Way before the civil war Irish and English men brought the breed to the USA, and they were an honored breed. Pit bulls are actually sometimes, really nice
I finally got an indoor dog. I got a Yorkshire Terrier a day before my Birthday. The dog I got is a male and when I got him he was about 4 months old. He has a black, grey, and tan coat. Yorkies (shorter way of saying Yorkshire Terrier) usually tend not to be kids friendly but my dog is a friendly dog. He loves people and he is very protective of me and my family. Yorkies also tend to bark a lot and bite. My dog barks at strangers he can’t see such as people in the hallway. He never bites but most dogs play bite (which doesn’t even hurt) ,he licks me afterwards as a way of saying sorry if he hurt me.
The name pit bull is slang for American Pit Bull Terrier. There are several variations in the pit bull name. The name pit bull refers to several breeds such as; American Pit Bull Terriers, Bull Terriers, Boxer, American Bulldog, Bull Mastiff, Boxer, and American Staffordshire Terriers (Bixler 2 ). In the early nineteenth century bull and terrier breeds were created in England, but were not recognized by the AKC until the nineteen thirties. The once loved and admired breed is now feared and threatened in many areas. This once loved and adored breed is looked upon as a vicious killer. The general vision of pit bulls are a large stalky frame, cropped ears and tail and with a large head.
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a companion and family dog breed. Originally bred to “bait” bulls, the breed evolved into all-around farm dogs, and later moved into the house to become “nanny dogs” because they were so gentle around children. Their tenacity, gameness, and courage make them popular competitors in the sports of weight pulling, agility, and obedience competition. Their lifespan is around eight to fifteen years. The average height is
American Staffordshire Terriers (Am Staffs) and American Pit Bull Terriers (APBTs) are the most commonly known dogs for their assumed vicious personality. Am Staffs/APBT’s are also more likely to be referred to as pit bulls when being discussed. Pit bull is a name that was created to address the more general breeds of dogs that have similar looks and characteristics. The people who already have a strong dislike for pit bulls will automatically imagine a vicious, volatile, and unfriendly animal. The popular thought for pit bulls is that they were born killers and should not be considered a dog for someone's home life. However, a number of studies have proven those assumptions false. In fact, pit bulls can be just as people-friendly,
Both Boxers and Terriers belong in the short- haired dog category. Boxers appeared to be tough, scary dogs because of how strong they are, nevertheless they are the complete opposite. The strong dogs are really energetic dogs who are heavy, but they still love to cuddle. Jack Russells on the other hand, are extremely loud dogs who love to bark. The reason they bark so much is because they are protective dogs who want to protect their territory.
The author of my news report was produced by Michael Pearson who is not an expert on this topic. When I searched to find out more about Mr. Pearson I found out the fact that he was only a part time journalist for CNN and his main job is photography. Also most of the articles I found that Michael Pearson authored were not about what is happening in the Middle East but about what is happening in the Ferguson case and a story about a Batman related shooting. This makes me believe that Mr. Pearson does not have all the facts because he has no other articles dealing with the Middle East. This article is a popular source not a scholarly source which means the article did not go through peer review. The author of the
The Landlady and There Will Come Soft Rains may be two different stories. Despite having two different authors, both have similar yet different writing styles. There is obliviousness in both Billy and the house. The house being oblivious to the fact that no one is there. Billy ignores all the signs that he may be murdered and stuffed. In the end of both stories the authors seems to make you feel bad for the main character. Sad when Billy dies, and sad or lonely when the house gets destroyed and dog dies.
The Boston Terrier has been nicknamed, and justly so "the American Gentleman." And has earned its nick name due to its wonderful, gentle disposition. Not to mention its tuxedo like coat. The Boston Terrier is one of the few breeds that is truly "made in the America," " American Kennel club rates the Boston Terrier as one of the most intelligent breeds"...
It’s a breed that is highly looked down upon and it has a stigma to it. The breed was originated from a number of aggressive dogs breeding together to make a
A widely believed misconception about the term “Pit Bull” is that it is an actual dog breed. However, this is false, and it is simply a category for different dog breeds with similar characteristics, such as the American Staffordshire, the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Bull Terrier, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the American Bulldog, and any mixes between these breeds. These breeds all came from the breeding of English Terriers and English Bulldogs to obtain desired sizes and characteristics. Most Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes are “strong, powerful dogs with broad, brick-like heads and muscular bodies” (“About Dog Breeds: Pit Bull”) and have a large variety of different fur colors. Because of their strength and loyalty, Pit Bulls have been taken advantage of by people who use them for fighting and money; when dog fighting rings are broken up, usually word spreads and causes many people
