Winston’s childhood years were harsh because he didn't have affection from either of his parents and being sent away at such a young age for school. But because of the time period he grew up in that was the way families were, especially if they were wealthy. Winston was a troublesome child while he was away at school but that was because he was sent to a school that he didn't like. As he got older and went to schools that suited him, like the military school Sandhurst, he grew out of that phase of rebellion. But the examinations that he was required to take and pass to get into Sandhurst, was another hard time because he failed them twice.
