Shakespearean Drama Shakespeare wrote three types of plays, which were tragedies, comedies, and histories. He wrote many of these plays, and became quite famous from it, with his influence still showing in the modern world. Arguably most popular of the three were tragedies, which included Romeo and Juliet, Othello, Hamlet, and many others that are still commonly taught in schools today. One thing that tells that reader that what they read was a tragedy is the fact that in the end, everybody dies, and usually there is at least one suicide. It is not known for sure what school Shakespeare attended, but it is typically believed that it was the King’s New School, which is located in Stratford, England. Most of Shakespeare’s young life has either been undocumented, or lost, as the next bit that happens in his life in his marriage. William Shakespeare was married at the age of eighteen to twenty-six year old Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582, and ended up having three kids, Susanna, Hamnet, and Judith. By the year 1592, Shakespeare already had some of his plays being performed in London. It is known that in Shakespeare’s later years, he returned to his hometown of Stratford and lived there until his death. It is not entirely clear how Shakespeare died, but it was because of some kind of illness. Shakespeare signed his will a month before he died, stating he was in good health.
