Why the Second Amendment Should Be Kept Did you know that each year guns are used more than eighty times more often to protect a life than to take a life? (“Statistics about Firearms in the USA”) This is because the Second Amendment allows us to own and use firearms. If the Second Amendment would go away or a gun ban were to happen, we, the law abiding citizens, would be defenseless against those who don’t follow the laws. It is the same way with drugs; drugs are illegal, but criminals, not law abiding citizens, still have drugs. The Second Amendment should be kept, and not changed for the worse, because it isn’t the gun that kills a person, it is very useful in situations when self-defense is required, and it provides a safer environment for everyone to live in. …show more content…

As the NRA and Colt Patent Firearms Co. states, “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” It is impossible for a gun to kill a person as it doesn’t have any way to control itself. A gun is a mechanism and isn’t able to think or kill. If a gun were to be able to kill someone it could simply be set down on a table, without anyone near it, and, at random, start killing.
