Our goals and aspirations are the forces that transform ordinary people into extraordinary people. This is why I have dreams of becoming an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Throughout the years, I have been mesmerized by this group of nine individuals who are able to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and work solely for the improvement of the American lifestyle. Thus, being appointed to the Supreme Court would be the greatest honor to ever be bestowed upon me. Moreover, the function of this court is to act as the protector of the American people from biased politics, greed-driven politicians, and harmful legislature. Growing up as a child, I was not exposed to how the government could ever be
More than half of the citizens of the United States believe that the government has more power than they should. This amount is the highest it has ever been and it continues to grow each and every year. Trusting your government is crucial to building a solid country. If the United States government is becoming more untrustworthy, the country is sure to fall apart at its seams. The government has too much control over people because they are constantly watching with cameras and electronics, they can kidnap or kill you without anyone ever knowing what happened, and they intervene in citizens lives too often.
Overall, citizens understand government does not provide much
What is government? It is a system which regulates a nation, city, state, or any specific group of people. It enforces law, provides services, and more or less bands a society together. It is the ultimate servant to the people along with big corporations who for the price of capital provide services and conveniences for the betterment of the people especially in the United States. Their work is communicated in the media in a positive manner. However the media only communicates to you what the government wants Americans to know and pushes out the real issues. Many Americans fail to see that the land of the free suffers from a lack of opportunity and upward
Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master.” -George Washington
An underlying conflict within the Supreme Court was partially abstained as Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg joined the system in 1954 and 1993. Although their oath of office resembles a major breakthrough in law, there is still no doubt that the conflict of ethnic and gender diversity and the need for diverse, experienced members within the Supreme Court is a problem that should be addressed by society within the next few years. From past events, such as Plessy v. Ferguson, Brown v. Board of Education, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and consistently throughout history, it is perceived that problems in our justice system are addressed when people come together as a society in resistance in want for change. Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s
Directing the nation’s path with their judgement, Supreme Court Justices shed light on the country in troubling times. The role of Supreme Court Justices are vital key to the complex society we thrive in, thus making this role one of the most prestigious positions in our country. From cases dealing with segregation in the school environment such as “Brown vs. Board of Education of Topeka” to recent cases regarding affirmative action in universities such as in “Fisher vs. University of Texas at Austin”, the Supreme Court Justices have seen it all.
As Martin Luther King pours his heart into the crowds, his breathtaking soliloquy exemplifies the core feelings of justice when he says: “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.” His dramatic and professional presentation achieves a sense of comfort and reassurance within every listener, letting the masses know everything will be alright. The Judicial System today shares the same motives, and strives for equality within American society today. Within each individual debate, each judge strives for fairness, blocking out all external influences. Nothing but the situation is taken at hand, and this ensures a consoling sense of parity within this nation today.Supreme Court verdicts have influenced Americans in many ways; however, among the most notable are the cases of New Jersey v. T.L.O which allows academic institutions to be kept safe through the students’ reduced expectancy of privacy, Grutter v. Bollinger which gives schools the ability to bask in the educational opportunities created by racial diversity, and Engel v. Vitale which creates a reassuring ecclesiastical separation
On the 21st of March, the Supreme Court heard the case Microsoft Corp v. Baker, a case that deals with whether a federal court of appeals has the jurisdiction to review a class action law suit after the plaintiffs have dismissed their claims. Although this case will not be decided for many months, the Justice’s stance was clear. The questions they asked and the rhetoric they used all pointed towards the plaintiffs. This experience was fascinating. How the Justices presented themselves, the seriousness of the climate, and the rules and regulates that follow the court, all added to my experience and spoke to the many themes within the criminal justice system.
Texas legislative branch should change the way judges in Texas are appointed. Partisan trends are an undependable and mendacious method in order to choose such an arbiter of equity as a judge. The system in which the partisans elect judges in some lights may be a good thing. However, the way in which it is gone about is flawed. Take for example the fact that these judges must chose a party. So the voters are given a ballot with a number of judges’ names which have party labels directly affixed to them. It doesn’t make sense that in the court room one judge would have a dissimilar point of outlook than a judge from another party. Regardless of which Party you are affiliated with the laws that the citizens are to abide by are exactly that and have no affiliation with a specific party. Whether or not a judge is Democratic or Republican should not matter because the jurisdiction ought to remain the same. There are way too many deserving judges out there who get thrown out of these elections way to much just because of a party label. When a voter looks at a ballot it is very likely that some of them are voting because it’s the right thing to do. Nobody is to say all of these voters attentively follow politics other than watching a few presidential debates. So there’s a chance that a lot of undeserving judges are ignorantly getting elected in result of a specific party label that voter identifies with or simply because that person’s name stands out.
I began to mistrust government when politicians increasingly began to lie to get elected with a positive agenda that would help support the community and nation, but when in office they never fulfilled their promises in which they campaigned on such as, New York’s senator Tim Bishop using funds provided by prominent hedge fund investors to personally influence their agendas once they would provide money to his campaign. Compared to the public in 2010, I can poll my mistrust in government at roughly seventy-five percent which matches the public view of government at the time when stated they only trusted the government only some of the
The President of the United States, as stated by the Supreme Court, has the jurisdiction to appoint supreme court justices based on their own interpretation of what will benefit the country the most. In addition, United State’s citizens have already casted their vote. Because of this, the citizens have put their faith in him to complete all this duties effectively, which includes the appointment of justices when one resigns or dies. Although, it is necessary for there to be checks and balances with the senate put in place for such an important appointment so that one branch of the government does not overstep their responsibilities and become too powerful.
Therefore as a judge, I’m not really all appointed on all the political parties that there is, but also I have to go through the Senates courses of hearing for I can be able to view the prospective point that’s from the constitution. But in my role as the/a judge it’s to make the right decisions that are all base on the law and that are based on the constitution as well.
Numerous Americans are unaware that by next year, the average age of Supreme Court justices will be 75. Unlike other countries, the United States’ Supreme Court does not enforce the idea of term limits. Once a judge is selected, when they leave the Supreme Court is up to their decision. Supreme Court justices may choose to retire early or die. However, as the judges are getting older and older, their health may intervene with the decisions that are being made. Issues regarding the health of the justices’ would not be a reoccurring annoyance if they were to be swapped out with younger and healthier judges; therefore, term limits are a good idea because there would be more diversity in the Supreme Court, mental and health issues would be reduced, and term limits would be long enough for judges to master the job.

The role of government has developed throughout the years changing the way we view and act in society today. For example, the national government ensure that the citizens of the United States are all treated equally, applies law and order, and provides opportunities. The government has changed dramatically since we now have social media, newspapers, and the radio. However , not only has the government provided a strong impact in society in a positive way, but it has also impacted the society in negative ways. As a nation the public has found many imperfection in our government that they want to change. Public opinion has caused negative feedback through media and political participation . The government is trying to help the people by
