Discuss why people can respond differently to the same artwork. People can respond differently to the same artwork because whatever mood a person is in can affect how that person responds to an image. More than one theme might be applied to a work of art. Pick a work of art from Chapter 3 and describe how two different themes might be applied to it. The image I chose was Liberty Leading the People by Eugene Delacroix. The two themes that may be applied to this image are Politics/ The Social Order because it shows what the government was like and how the people were fighting for justice and Stories/ Histories because it shows empowerment of the citizens in the 1830 revolution. Discuss the meaning of the term "context" in history and provide
Possible Themes: (Identify five possible themes for discussion). Theme is a central message or insight into life revealed by literary work.
Theme. A lesson in a novel or story that is not directly stated in the book. Between the excerpts Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt and The Street by Ann Petry is a common theme. The theme that desperate times call for desperate measures.
Since the beginning of time, artists have labored extensively to find innovative ways to convey sentiment, passion, and feeling. Telling stories and trying to unlock the minds of people through different avenues of artistic labors. Art touches and affects people in unique ways; it can have special or unusual meaning on the person depending on how one views it. Artists’ rendering of their art is interpreted in numerous ways by others who view it unless it is explained by the artist on its meaning giving a clear example of what they are portraying. Two people looking at the same painting, sculpture, portrait, or photo may come to different views on the arts meaning even though they are looking
A theme is the author’s underlying message that is expressed in more one word. Some themes can be very similar to each other, an example of this is the two documents I will comparing in this analysis essay; The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and On the sidewalk Bleeding by Evan Hunter. These two stories share similar themes, Don’t judge someone by what they look like, get to know them before you determine their fate. However the authors portray this theme in a different way. One story depicts a young boy who goes through troublesome events in his life before he realizes the moral of his life.
A theme, by literary definition, is a central topic of a text. This means that they are a always a part of every story. Mainly, themes symbolize the meanings of texts. In one particular story by Ursula K. Le Guin, “The Ones Who WAlk Away from Omelas,” one of its main themes centers around the neglection of morals and ethics. Throughout the text, this idea of moral neglection is apparent and it describes how derelict the ethics of the people of Omelas has become.
When writing about the theme, the writer should keep in mind that he/she will write an analysis of a theme that appears in either a text or movie that argues a specific point. The writer's aim in this type of essay is to pick a theme from a text or movie and write about what that theme does for the story or what that theme makes the reader realize about that story and/or life itself. The best way to come up with such an
Discuss the use of imagery in two stories of your choice. How do the various images work in a particular story to bring its subject matter into focus? Is there a central image? And how does this enhance or confuse or complicate the effect of the story?
The piece of artwork I have chosen is The Siren Vase. This piece was created by The Siren Painter whose real name is unknown along with a birth and death date. The Siren Painter produced. The Siren Vase in 480-470 BC. The vase has has been housed in the British Museum since 1843. I would describe the theme of this piece as showing cunning strength or crafty skill in achieving one’s goal.
•The works of art must have a similar theme. For example: 3 landscapes, or 3 works that focus on religious content, etc.
Another example of the theme is in the short story "The Necklace." The theme shows itself in the story when Madame Loisel refuses to wait for her husband to hail a cab in front of the elegant party she had just attended because she doesn't want people to see her shabby wrap. This part shows the theme because she is ashamed to show herself wearing her old, decaying wrap.
Art is able to transport its viewer through time and connect us as a community. Audiences are able to infer the content and context of the artwork. Art displayed through different mediums and about different topics can share many similarities and draw connections between one another. Exodus, created by Shelby Lechman (2015), uses oil paint on canvas to depict a young boy and father in a train car, leaving their home in Hungary during the time of the Hungarian Revolution (fig.1). Back into the Earth: Creation and the Interpretation of Meaning, created by Tamara Himmelspach (2015) is a series of 11 prints and a physical dress displaying the designer in a jingle dress representing the traditions of the Ojibwa culture
Themes tend to be presented in a work of fiction, rather than in nonfiction and are much more obscure. For example, a drama or tragedy such as Oedipus Rex has the theme of not being able to escape fate, rather than having a brusquely stated thesis statement. The theme must be deduced by the reader/watcher after finishing and reflecting upon the play. Themes also tend to be an idea or message that is given to the reader.
Theme gives the reader a general idea about what the piece of literature is about. The character’s action and thoughts takes part in creating the theme. Animal farm was a book about animals taking control of the farm from their tyrannic farmer. The animals attempts to make the farm a democracy, but Napoleon, the pig leader, takes over and eventually becomes the new tyrant. The Pearl was about a family, Kino, Juana, Coyotito, who catches a huge pearl. They go through a journey to get away from any harm such as the trackers. In the book Animal Farm and the book The Pearl, the two characters, Napoleon and the Doctor, created a theme that greed can change their perspective.
The Mona Lisa, 1503 - 1506, painted on poplar wood (77 x 53cm) with oil paint.
The area of art is popularly known for heightening emotions, challenging stereotypes, and ultimately providing insights into how individuals view the surrounding world. The artist and the observer time and time again see pieces in overwhelmingly different ways. Individuals may wonder why this is so. What could possibly create such a drastic change from one perspective to another? When it comes down to it, experiences are the answer. The artist and the observer have different
