Even though crime rates are decreasing over the years . The states are demanding more police service to help improve the safety of the people. If their are more police officers this will help keep places safe and a better environment to live in.
Police officers are trained to have certain level of physical fitness and good at knowing the law. They help keep the law stabilized so that their isn't crime in the world. In the United States, there are city, county, state, and national police forces. They have very difficult and dangerous responsibilities. These public servants are required to perform many different jobs. They enforce laws and maintain order. They teach people how to help prevent crime and to protect themselves ( Mittleman, 2000). They offer assistance and take charge of many different situations such as car accidents, flooding, and hurricanes. Police
One role that the police have to carry out is making and processing arrests. For example, in an event like a robbery, they would have to do this to make sure that they capture the criminals or suspects etc. in order to keep the community and the public safe.
More police officers need to be hired with the growing population. This is a must with the increase of crime. To address the increase criminal activity there needs to be more police officers in those areas. Police officers retire and others leave the job. These vacant positions must be filed and the police ratio to citizens need to mach. “Currently on average the ratio of police to population in the US comes to about 2.3 officers per thousand
Secondly, Crime will decrease in Newark, NJ by the city assigning more officers to be on patrol instead of doing desk work. If there were more cops on patrol there would not be a lot of crime rate to begin with. Some officers do not get the chance to patrol. If Newark assigns these officers to patrol instead of doing desk work the crime rate would instantly drop like when Newark had its first crime free month since 1966. Newark is a large city that need close attention because of poverty and etc… People cannot even walk down the street without worrying whether or not they will come back alive or dead. Robert Andrews also told the Star Ledger “he had been inundated with calls from residents to patrol Newark’s streets.”?”(Giambusso and Friedman,” Laid off Newark police officers cope with unemployment.”) If somebody does not step up to the plate Newark residents will be in jeopardy again.

Job requirements for a Law Enforcement Officer are different than most jobs because of what they do. Law enforcement officers are to uphold the law by enforcing the laws. That means that a police officer can arrest a person for doing illegal activities, and they will go to jail. Making arrests and policing citizens in general is different than any other career. Law enforcement officers can judge whether or not a person is doing something illegal, or will do the illegal activity again.
Police officers have played a major role in society by protecting us from crime. Their responsibilities include not only preserving the peace, preventing criminal acts, enforcing the law, investigating crimes, and arresting those who violate the law but also directing traffic, community relations work, and controlling crowds at public events.
While being a police officer, you have guidelines and rules that you need to follow just as if you worked as a chef or even a sales associate you have rules
This was an article I found through the APUS library that offers information on the hours that police officers work. It also explains the complications of being overworked and its results. I will use this information to expand on the day-to-day operations of an officer. I will also be able to determine some cons of pursuing this career.
It is common sense that tells us we should be hiring more cops because it would help reduce crime, but that cannot work everywhere. Chicago has plans to add more police officers to their police force and it will be costly. They are doing this because of how many murders and shootings that are happening lately. Chicago is already the nation’s second-largest police force with New York being the nation’s first-largest police force. In 2016, there have been over 500 murders and over 3,000 people shot in Chicago. People are saying that the police in Chicago are stretched too thin and that adding more police officers will help with more cases being solved. (Davey, 2016).
I understand that the life of a police officer is spent responding to crimes in progress, patrolling assigned areas to maintain public safety, interviewing witnesses and suspects, apprehending fugitives, collecting evidence, writing reports and providing testimony in court. Police officers usually
Police officers are responsible for protecting people and property. Related job titles include Sheriffs and sheriffs deputy, detectives, and state police officers. However all of these job titles have similar duties for example they are all responsible for the protection of people and property. These job titles might be very similar but they do differ in many ways. Police officers patrol the city issuing citations keeping the peace and conduct traffic stops. Sheriff 's and deputies hold practically the same duties as police officers but do so for the entire county. A state police officer could also be addressed as a state trooper. These officers usually patrol highways and issue citations and are frequently called for comprehensive law enforcement services. Detective is the title that differs from the others the most. Detectives aren 't in uniform. They investigate crime scenes and find evidence for criminal cases. Detectives conduct interviews, observe activities of suspects, and also participate in raids. Although a normal police officer does not earn as much income as related titles it is still a very demanding and dangerous job.
Becoming a police officer is not just a choice one makes, but in actuality a life decision. Officers must make sure they follow morals as well as the code of ethics. No matter if you’re an officer that patrols the city streets night after night, or an officer patrolling school grounds or malls, you’re still important. Everyone feels a sense of comfort when they know they are safe.
Police officers have been a part of history for a long time, the earliest time is recorded back to the sixteen hundreds. When the first Europeans came over to the United States, they felt that it was necessary to protect themselves and their people from the inhabitants that were already here and had no interest in sharing their land with them. Any man and young boy that was physically able to protect their people was required to do so. There
