WHY SOCIAL MEDIA BAD FOR TEENS In my opinion I believe that social media does more harm to minors than good. Such as going to taking their own lives to being emotionally scarred. A big reason why I think social media for teens it is because it causes cyberbullying. CyberBullying harasses its victim by mentally harassing them, humiliating them, and may even resort suicide. Did you know that about 11% of people that gets cyberbullied commit suicide and already more than 6000 deaths. Cyberbullying may affect them also getting bullied in real life which is the case in many stories. This is only one reason why social media is bad for teens. My second reason is because social media platforms like facebook steal information from your search
Social media has transformed the way people send and receive information, such as the lasts news articles and alerts, updates from non-profit organizations, miscellaneous causes, and of course—selfies. Social media has paved the way for many good-natured aspects of communication and indirect-socialization, and most people will either take a positive of negative stance, but what kind of effects does social media really have on our teens? While social media has brought an effective means of communication to everyday people, it has also made way for a wave of low self-esteem, lack of good communication skills, and a false outlook on reality for teenagers who use it excessively.
According to Bulent Dilmac, “bullying is defined as aggression with the intention of hurting (Kepenekci & Çınkır, 2003) and is an anti-social form of behavior that produces negative consequences (Taylor, 2006).” “Cyberbullying is defined as the repetitive use of information and communication technologies by an individual or a group in order to hurt other individuals. (Akbaba & Eroǧlu, 2013).” There have been several cases where cyberbullying causes teenagers to take their own life’s (commit suicide). It can cause individuals to suppress negative emotions within them. Lowering their self-esteem and looking at life with a sense of hopelessness. Jessica Laney was a victim of cyberbullying when she was insulted on social media.
Social media is a huge part in today’s world, however does social media cause teens to do dangerous things? No social media does not cause teens to do dangerous things. Teens have been doing risky things way before the internet, social media and even phones. People may think that social media does cause teens to do dangerous things because there are videos and there are memes all over the place about dangerous challenges, however we are the people putting those things out there for teens to see. Social media gives people the chance to become famous and that is what people want, we are the ones making these people famous.

There’s many different effects on victims because of cyberbullying. First of all, about 10% of victims have tried to commit suicide, and 30% of victims have had suicidal thoughts. I believe that this is absolutely ridiculous! The website www.cbc.ca has stated that “in 2011, and in the first 4 months of 2012 there were a total of 18 suicides due to cyberbullying”. Students and kids will often feel unwanted and hopeless, and that the only way they can get away from the

Cyber bullying is dangerous regardless the way it is done. When I was younger, I experienced it myself some of the other girls would pick on me through name calling, pushing and making rumors about me that weren 't true. Teens will find anything to pick on about which would be through their idea of a slight imperfection weight, sexual orientation, disablement and looking different some will take it too far to the point the bullied child wants to commit suicide and that is the reason for this essay to make people aware and help stop things like this from happening.
When you were a teenager, did social media impact your life? If not, it certainly has had an impact on the teenagers of America today. Social media has been around for a long time. There are many applications for social media, some of which are Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. With the rapid evolution of social media, people believe that social media is impacting teenagers in a negative way. However, some believe that there are positive effects. The negative effects of social media on teenagers include poor student performance, lack of sleep, and increased vulnerability. However, before any of these arguments can be talked about, it is important that people know the history of social media.
It seems as if social media is known for the bad that happens, but I would like to focus on the positives about social media. I believe that social media is a great source for teenagers and children around my age. Not only does social media allow you to meet new people with similar interests as you, it allows you to reach out to famous people or can get out of your comfort zone. Teenagers can also use social media to find out the news. Some people watch the news on TV, but people my age find out what's going on through social media. Teenagers use social media as a source of entertainment such as watching funny Youtube or Facebook videos. Teenagers can also use social media for advice, such as if you don’t know an answer to a homework problem you could just direct message one of your friends for help. People like to think that only bad comes from social media, but that is simply incorrect. Yes bad stuff can happen, but there’s always a chance for something bad to happen. I believe that social media is great for teenagers, and so should you.
Social media sites allow millions of people to interact with friends, family and anyone around the world. This literature review will analyze research of the positive and negative effects social media are having on today’s impressionable youth. Much of the research focuses on the age range of 10-16 from well-to-do families and college students. Understanding the online environment that teenagers live in can help parents relate to their children and teach then about the dangers and benefits of being on the Internet.
Social media is bad for the teenager aspect of life by causing world corruption in many ways. Social media can change and become cyberbullying, social outcasting, lack of communication skills, and most of all, not being able to find whom you can become. This is not only through social media, but also video games, television, and self-reflection caused through these. Social media have progressed so far that communicating through face to face talks don’t seem as appealing anymore. There is Skype where we can video chat. Also, Facebook where we can chat or blog about irrelevant things such as what we are eating at the moment. I have seen some people even text each other when sitting side by side. Technology is an addiction, one many have trouble overcoming. I 've had trouble with social media for a few years due to drama, since you 're not talking to the person 's face to face you seem to have a newfound courage to be mean or even two-faced. I then went without my phone for a year and felt as though I could finally breathe and take in whatever was around me.
