While Abraham Lincoln was serving as the president of the United States of Amerca, slavery was a large issue in the country. It was so impactful that it became known as a partial cause of the Civil War. Lincoln, having been elected as president as a Republican, he was part of a party that was against the extension of slavery.

Abraham Lincoln, guided his country through the most devastating experience during his time—the Civil War. He is considered by many historians and people to have been the greatest American president. Abraham Lincoln, was a self-taught Illinois lawyer and a legislator with a belief that every man should be free in America. Many were shock that he had overcome several prominent continents in the Republicans Party’s nomination for president in 1860. In the North many people agreed that is was fair to let the slaves be free, but for the south who need slaves for picking cotton were not so happy. People in the South, called the confederates hated the idea of freeing the slaves, and this is how the Civil War started.

Who is the best president of all time?  Many people over the years have debated this topic.  But, there can only be one.  One savior of the people.  That is no doubt, Abraham Lincoln.  He led the Civil War and issued the Emancipation Proclamation.  Therefore, ending all slavery in the US.

Due to his work as the 16th president, as well as his achievements during the civil war and his role in the creation of the 13th amendment, Abraham Lincoln has had the most positive effect on the United States. Without him America could have been negatively impacted in many ways, possibly even in size.

He is responsible for preserving the union, freeing the slaves, and enacting various new policies. Lincoln was a president that never gave up and put his people first. The best US president in my opnion is Abraham Lincoln. This is because he kept his composure during the hardest time i can imagine in US history. Being a national leader when the nation starts to divide is unimaginably stressful i imagine. He kept calm, gave the people what they want, and free'd the slaves legally by the Emancipation Proclimation. To lead a dividing nation, free tens of thousands of slaves and then keep the nation together is outstanding. I cannot imagine anyone of this day and age freeing tens of thousands of extremely oppressed people of one ethnicity or race enslaved by another race, all while putting the nation back together before, during and after a major war. Lincoln’s argument about the relationship between slavery, the Constitution, and the Union changed throughout the Civil War. Lincoln’s view of the purpose of the war was to save the Union because of the southern states seceding from the Union. However, the argument changed to the war being about slavery because of Fredrick Douglass’s speeches and the Confederates surrendering at
