One of the quotes Grey’s Anatomy is mostly known for is “It’s a beautiful day to save lives”. Not only because it is told by very hot Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) but it reminds the viewers what the show is about. Leaving personal issues outside and focusing on what is truly important –saving the patient’s life. Grey’s Anatomy is a medical-based drama series that has been airing since 2005. Shonda Rhimes, executive producer and head writer, came up with the idea from her enjoyment of watching real-life surgeries on TV. As a drama series, the characters are constantly dealing with emotional rollercoasters while completing their surgical residency. From a drowning, a shooting, a plane crash, and the most recent heartbreak, losing her husband from a brain bleed. Grey has shown to be the unluckiest person in the entire hospital. Although her catastrophes are unforgettable, several other doctors have suffered as well. George O’Malley was given the nickname “007” which means “license to kill” after he froze during his first solo procedure. The nickname haunted him through most of his residency but it was not enough to stop him. O’Malley was still a favorite between the residents and won the heart of many. He decided to join the United States Army as a trauma surgeon and gives an unexpected goodbye to his fellow class mates. When a patient is rushed to the hospital, every doctor wants in on the case. The patient is unrecognizable but it’s later known that the patient jumped in front of a bus to save a girl that was walking. The episode takes a shift when the patient spells out 007 on Meredith’s hand indicating that the patient was George O’Malley.
