Requirement 1 The first role at Google I will be examining is that of Product Management. The three most critical technical skills I believe are needed to successfully do this job are engineering skills, problem solving and technology skills, and data collection skills. Engineering skills are pertinent to this role so that one can be innovative and create Google’s next big thing. Google is known for having the most creative and new ideas out there. One also needs to be able to work with engineers to design and create new breathtaking technologies to rock the world with and to share new information with the world. Lastly one needs to be open-minded and flexible in this role that he/she can roll with punches. Problems can always arise and one needs to be flexible and keep an open mind to think of the solutions to these problems. Technology skills are important to have in Marketing and Communications so that one is familiar with the technology they are marketing. At Google a person in this role is tasked with connecting user with the technology at Google and so one needs to have experience with the technology he/she is connecting its users with, in the typical, unusual Google way. Also marketing skills are obviously important to have in the Marketing and Communications role at Google. One in this role, needs to know how to share with the world how Google’s products help the world with their daily struggles. Lastly one in this role would need organizational skills. In any job organizational skills are needed, but they are especially pertinent in this one. One needs to keep track of all the different technologies and information of Google, so that they can accurately communicate and market them to the world. Professionally, Google is known as a company based in California that is labeled as an internet company which is multi-national. It provides online searching, as well as cloud computing, software, and advertising. The company actually didn 't start off as a company, but rather as a research project back in 1996. The project was being conducted by Sergey Brin and Larry Page who at the time were studying at Standford University as PhD students. At the time, in internet-land, the search engines that existed operated where they ranked the results by counting the number of times keywords results were on a page. The two students came with a better idea (called PageRank at the time), that looked at relationship between websites. It would rank websites by determining it 's relevance, which was based on the importance of pages, and the number of pages, and how it linked back to the main website. After the idea 's creation, the two founders made the project into a business, and changed the name to "Google", which is a neat miss-spelling of the word "googol" which had significance because it stands for the number one followed by one hundred zeros, and it related to their goal because they wanted to create a search engine that offered a large quantity of information.
