Despite our age differences, Lehigh and I have quite a bit in common. Lehigh and I share a desire for growth, the ability to withstand time, and a vast interest in the unknown.
With ninety-six percent of the Lehigh faculty holding terminal degrees in their field, it is no secret that the folks at Lehigh have set high standards for the university. They are dedicated to giving their students the best opportunities available in order to make the students’ futures bright and filled with opportunities. I have also demonstrated the urge to expand throughout my life. In school I have continued to take the most challenging courses possible while pushing myself to the limit on the wrestling mat.
In addition to a desire for growth Lehigh and I share the power to withstand the test of time. Since 1865 when Asa Packer founded the university, Lehigh has remained rigid in its values. Similarly, I have demonstrated this ability as well. While others began to stray away from their values as they have progressed through high school, I have stuck with mine. I have and always uphold my values seriously regardless of the opinions of those around me.

Lehigh demonstrates this ability by holding an outstanding 117 research grants. Lehigh is not content with merely parroting back knowledge of the past, but rather strives to break through known limits. Likewise I want to expand my knowledge and help discover things unknown to those before me. Lehigh is without a doubt the most qualified university to aid me in the achievement of this goal. In order to have success in education, there must be a shared set of values between the student and the college or university. This harmony leads to the greatest levels success and sense of purpose. Lehigh and I are very similar as we share ambition, durability, and
Throughout today’s society, media contributes to almost everyone’s daily life. From informative news channels to comical television shows, media proves to be effective in advertisement, releasing messages and informing the audience. Although media proves to be wildly effective in advertising, releasing messages and informing the audience, periodically destructive and misleading messages are provided to the audience and directly influencing women. Cultural critics widely agree that media tends to negatively influence women and all the critics point to research which supports the belief that women are portrayed as subordinate to men, having no
It has recently been brought to my attention that our school is looking to adopt a sustainable menu into our meal program and I would like to give my viewpoint on the matter. As one many students here at Oxford Academy this change will affect me directly. Although people may at first oppose this conversion I think if we are able to overcome the first obstacles, this change would bring a great positive impact to the environment and the health of our students.
At the beginning of the 20th century, American Progressive methods began changing to fit a new era of economic and social policy. The early 1900s were a time of increasing social awareness and focus on responsible legislation. Some of the economic changes that caused this new Progressive awareness and focus were desire for growth, new moral ideologies, and an orientation around workers' rights.
In Amy Chua’s essay, “The Right Road to America” she argues the point that immigration is a great value of this country and that America was built from immigrants. One thing differs from Chua’s essay than from others because she not only gives highly credible facts on how immigrants have helped our country, but she also provides ways to improve the issues of immigration into America. Amy Chua is a highly credible professor at Yale and states throughout her essay that immigrants who possess American values deserve to be here in America and those who don’t should leave. America had always been a country that accepted immigration and allowed all
Education is one of the most valuable things a person can have access to, and I cherish my opportunity to come to a university such as this one. Being in the Quinlan Business Honors Learning Community with an expedited graduation date has meant putting in more time and effort than the average student. However, I am incredibly proud of all I have learned and achieved in the last three semesters.
As I look back on my four years at Lisgar Collegiate Institute, I see a profound impact in all facets of school life, from academics and arts and athletics to clubs and school society and community service.
My Lewis & Clark’s education, will always be represented by opportunity. I have never felt a limit on anything I can do here. There are always places to grow and understand myself and what I want from my education. Lewis & Clark is providing me with the building blocks I need to construct the solid well rounded base of knowledge I need before I can pursue a more concentrated path. I have had the great opportunity to take a diversity of classes in the arts, science, humanities, along with a few others. Coming into the school, I had no plan for what I wanted to focus my studies on, but by taking such a medley of classes, I was finally able come across a topic that
Throughout my life as a child and teenager, I was told by my parents that they worked really hard to get to the safe town and community that we lived in. Growing up in Pacific Grove, California gave me lots opportunities that I didn’t even know I obtained. Unless it had happened to me personally, I didn’t really understand the full picture of what others had to go through. Having dyslexia, the only subject I felt I really excelled in was art. After high school, I still had no idea what I wanted to do for a career or even a major. Monterey Peninsula College has boosted my confidence by showing me that I can be and do much more. Two years ago I would never have guessed that I would be applying to the University of Washington.
Since the 8th grade, I’ve known I wanted to be a student at Howard University. Howard University has cleared every major specification that I so very looked for in school in a way no other school could ever. From the moment I stepped on campus the beginning of my junior year, I knew this was the place that I would be able to thrive and inherently become a better “Me”. Howard exudes a certain liveliness that attracts me… Whether it’s the prestige and notably, the mass opportunities presented to all of its students, or the noticeable ambition that exude off each student; I Matthew Smith want to be part of it.
Throughout my five semesters at Delaware County Community College I have grown beyond all expectations. I never anticipated to become as involved as I did within the Delaware County Community College Community, but because of that I have been blessed with many opportunities that have shaped me into the person I am today. I aim to be as involved within the Neumann Community as I was in the Delaware County Community to not only better myself but to better the college itself. I hope to make an impact as best I can not only through my involvement in extracurricular clubs and activities, but also in the classroom with my fellow classmates.
In general, the previous schools that I had attended were rather conservative in the sense that there is a lesser degree in the freedom to flourish in distinct fields of study. Therefore, I crave in expanding my abilities in different fields and in different places. I decided to turn to American education to challenge this stereotype. Attending Lewis & Clark College would allow the broadening of my perception in both academia and profession-wise. I see Lewis & Clark as the fertile grassland that can assist my pursuit for knowledge as it provides a large diversity of programs and working relationships with multiple companies. Ultimately, Lewis & Clark College serves as a springboard for me to achieve a higher ground throughout my career path. The opportunities provided in Lewis & Clark College could potentially elicit the inner potentials of myself to develop in the society and better represent myself as a successful candid from the
Going to college and being in a university setting was the first time my perspectives and ideas were broadened. I was able to see the world outside my small suburb, and learned harsh realities, which I was sheltered from my whole life. Social justice advocate, Bryan Stevenson, expounds the idea of getting proximate to issues that one cares about. For me, getting proximate was accomplished by being on a university campus, and learning from the ideas of others, as well as new, first-hand experiences. As I was supported and encouraged in my growth at Loyola, I want to provide the same assistance for other students. Through my years I have excelled at organization and coordination, skills that I hope to apply in order to help students in a university setting. More so, I want to help support students who enter college, those who wish to expand their knowledge, viewpoints, and minds. Higher education would offer me a unique opportunity where I would be able to support students in their growth as a person, while offering encouragement and assistance to students throughout their college
Progressivism expanded across American cities and provided a variety of responses to issues of Americans after the introduction and rapid growth of the urban industrial order. Initially the progressive began as a social movement and grew into a political one. The goals of the movement varied addressing issues such as increasing democracy in the government, the improvement of working and social conditions and identifying and correcting issues of corrupted power.
Respect, integrity, responsibility, and honesty are the things I've learned to need to be successful at both of my military schools. While Fork Union and Carson Long have a lot in common, they are very diverse in a multitude of ways. From being alike in having parades, the campuses and education are very different.
Transitioning from secondary education to postsecondary education, I feared that I would lose my connection with the development of the student body. Instead, I gained valuable knowledge pertaining to the mission, vision and goals of
