1.) Through out my life, I have been trying to figure out my purpose. It wasn't until my senior year of high school that I found my calling. Helping out in one of the Newaygo High School classrooms, tutoring speical needs students, is what truly brightens my soul each day. To obtain this goal, I plan to graduate from Adrian College with a Bachelors degree in Speical Education. From here, I would like to find a career in either a school, hospital or learning center. In 10 years, I see myself making a difference. Where ever I end up, I will be changing the lives of children who are trying to find their purpose. Special education is dear to my heart because so many people count out people with disabilities. The students in the classrooms I have helped in have shown me what it is to truly live. They have such a unique perspective on life; a thirst to experience and cherish each …show more content…
Not being a very out going person, it was difficult for me to adjust to meeting new people. Customer service was outside of my comfort zone. However, due to the rough financial hardships of my family, I had no choice but to work. This was my denfing moment. Here I learned that it is okay to do what I think I can't. While working at the ice cream store, along with the basics of food service and product managment, I learned how to be a leader. In this safe learning environment, I found my voice. I was able to talk to new people each day. I found out that I am actually quite good with customer service. I made many new memories and friendships. If I had to make this choice all over again, I certaninly would. Even if my family didn't need the money, I would still apply to the ice cream store. I learned how to stand on my own feet. I discovered idependence. These are qualities that cannot be bought. They are earned. Although it was a simple, minimum wage job, it played an important role in developing the individual I am
It was only a seasonal job, so they weren't too picky with their hiring and within a month I was hired and put to training. Training was fun, it was I working like everybody but somewhat supervised. After the training I'll be honest, I hated working there. I couldn't stand having to put clothes away for four hours and barely being able to talk to anybody besides a passerby customer who would politely brush me off every time I asked the required, "Do you need any help with anything? No? Okay, let me know!" It got old real quick. I missed the constant interaction I got with the kids I used to
The amount of people who live with disabilities is a controversial number. Depending on what law and diagnostic tools used, a person may have a visible disability, or one that may lie beneath the surface of his or her appearance. Some people believe that the term “disability” is merely a label use to hold back, or prescribe helplessness. Meanwhile, individuals who have been properly diagnosed with disabilities struggle to maintain respect and acceptance every day. In plain language, there is a lot of misunderstanding between people with disabilities and those without. It is firstly important to get everyone on the same page regarding the definition of disability.
I am a self-starter, work hard and keep my goals in front of me at all times. With God leading me, I know I can complete my BSN and better myself to helping others. I want to continue my work in administration to help healthcare professional’s better help their patients without costing more money to either party. I know that having to work different places and different hours while raising my children and continuing my education has taught me to manage my time and energy so that projects were not late, I was not late to work, and still got to be there for the important things with my kids. I want to work smarter, not harder. I want to be there for all the fun school things when my grandson starts school. I want to be a shining light to my kids that continuing education is a better path then being stuck for the next several years. I want to follow in the footsteps of my mother who at the age of 68 received her 4th master’s degree (online education) and retired from working with the phone company and started running a practice in town. I want to enroll with your school and earn my

As they journey through college, to pursue the knowledge needed for their career, their passion leads them to special education. These teachers fine this career to be job satisfying, have empathy for the children, and the vacancy of the position viability. Not all teacher feel the same however, over time their dissatisfied with their job and leave because their brunt out.
One of the most essential aspects of the educational process is to know how to motivate students for learning. A challenging part of being a teacher is to know and learn how to motivate students. First of all, a good definition for motivation is as Byrnes quote “Motivation is construct
I wasn't sure at first at what I wanted to do, so I started getting involved with activities. These activities included becoming a teacher assistant at the lago vista daycare, as well as becoming a peer assistant for students with disabilities, and with these activities and working with the children and teens. It helped figure out what I had a passion for, and that is special education. I have learned a lot by being a peer assistant, i see how these teens with disabilities days go, what they enjoy, and what they struggle with. One of the students assist is nonverbal, and i believe my favorite part my day is coming to the class and helping him be like everyone else by helping him communicate, using his book, and by doing the activities everyone else in the class is doing. It makes me feel like i am making an impact in these students lives, and that's why I wish to study special education. So with that being said, I will be attending Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and major in University Studies to pursue a career as a Special Education
It brings me pleasure knowing that I will be able to bring awareness about resources and adaptive devices to individuals in need. My immediate goals will be possible to achieve when becoming an Occupational Therapist because I will be able to work with children with mental disabilities such as Autism. One of the reasons this is my desired career choice is because I know that I will be constantly learning in this profession. Each person is diverse and the disability does not define them as my undergraduate
“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” – Henry B. Adams. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their formal education.
I strive to not let societal expectations tire me down. I try to find happiness in my everyday life and not let dewl on the hardship because it makes me who I am. My career goal as of right now is to become a medical sales representative. I became interested in this goal and started working at it with the confidence I gained. I built the courage to ask for a internship in the veterinary hospital sales office, I have yet to receive a response but I won’t stop trying. I was raised not only with confidence in myself but ambition. My other goal in life is to give back to communities like mine and reassure children that they are smart and they can do anything they put their mind to. I want to live life to the fullest and show children of color that it is perfectly fine to be different but to not like that hinder or dull their star. Ultimately, I will succeed and show those who believed in me that I believe in myself
I realized after being able to handle an angry customer positively, I have matured working at Wendy’s. To be able to not step out of character when someone you don’t know is yelling at you because of tomatoes is huge. Having a job helped me practice professional skills. I also had to learn to save money because the same weekend I got my check I spent half of it. My first job made me feel like a complete adult, and although it was stressful, maturing is a step in life I knew I was going to face soon
I am currently working at Via of the Lehigh valley. I am an employment specialist that seeks employment for people with special needs. My life has changed for the better since I started working for this company. Working at Via has made me want to continue my academic career, and to concentrate on helping others. Making an impanct on someone who has a disability is something I believe that will be my dream job, and my dream career. I love working with individuals who have disabilities, and I love to make their life easier by allowing them to succeed in everyday life. I am a passionate person who was blessed with a gift, that allows me to work with individuals with disables that others may not have. I want to continue my Albright academic career and receive my degree because I know I will make a difference in the world, because of what I do. I will feel valued, and feel forever rewarded by helping make a difference in someone’s life. I also like the coaching/motivating aspect of the
It was my first job, It was frustrating at first trying to figure out the whole menu and what goes with what but I tried my best and it was a very successful job for me in many ways. One way it helped me for my future was actually getting paid and knowing what to do with my money. Once I started getting paychecks it just felt like bills were coming out of nowhere. Being employed at a young age gave me the feel of being responsible and looking out for the real world. Money isn’t always for yourself is what I
When I was asked to reflect on my experiences in EDSE 316 and the fieldwork, I had to think long and hard on how I would sum up four months of classes and fieldwork into four pages. I have learned so much about the various disabilities and how it has change the world of special education. I think a better term would be the “endless possibilities of education”. It wasn’t too long ago when children with disabilities would be stuck in a room in the back of school only to be seen in the beginning and end of the school day. They were the ones who rode the other buses and no one really talked about. This class has allowed me to speak of my own family and how special education impacted my life. I have a brother whose whole life was spent in the special education class, and my own sons with speech and learning disabilities who are now receiving special education services. It also allowed me to reflect on my own participation in the special education program in my early elementary years when I was struggling with my own speech disability. This class gave me the chance to see the timeline of special education, from its earliest beginnings to what it is now.
Time and time again I've found myself declaring education as the central pillar of my growth and development, that of which has been consistent throughout my life and educational career. From the age of 8 I've attributed school and learning as a way to escape the outside world, both willingly, and as an involuntary coping mechanism; school was a refuge, a safe place where I could build healthy relationships and escape my worries. I felt valued by my teachers, and I was given opportunities to contribute to a community, and for the first time felt autonomous- and that I could control my future.
As time went on, things slowly started to get better. With my improved work habits, I slowly began to catch up on school. Also, I began to know my coworkers better, and I get to spend more time with my friend there. Moreover, after knowing how the store functions and learning all the menu items, the work became easier as well. I started to really enjoy this job despite getting some wrist injuries from scooping ice cream.
