The people I interviewed, Ms. Holly Smith-Bass and Kathleen Bradcovich, were able to provide me insight as to what I needed for my field of study, what they had to go through with their college, and some information as to why I should go to Wesleyan. Ms. Smith-Bass, a professor at Brunswick Community College with a master’s degree in Mathematics, explained to me what college courses I should take and that if I am going to major in the mathematics field, I should have a minor just in case. The minor she told me would be best for me, based on how well I do in the subject and whether I like it or not, is biology. She expressed to me, “If you can get a minor in some sort of science whether it be computer science, biology, etc. then, you will have a good background and get yourself further through the door”(Smith-Bass). Also she described to me some of the classes I would have to take such as; ‘differential equations, all of the calculuses, some that go further in depth like number theory or binary code, etc.’ (Smith-Bass). In addition to Ms. Smith-Bass’ advice Ms. Bradcovich explained to me that there are ‘several jobs and opportunities, one being of her personal experience of getting to work with multiple mathematicians’, the only difference Ms. Bradcovich has is that she majored in computer science but has a minor in mathematics, both being beyond bachelor’s. She also stated that she got to do some military work such as doing a few tours as well as other …show more content…

As a senior in high school the time has come when people begin to ask big and sometimes overwhelming questions like, “Where are you going to college?” and “What will be your major?” These questions, of course, lead to college visits and decisions. The two colleges that seem to meet my criteria are The University of Findlay and Ohio Dominican University. Both colleges have positive aspects, such as having the major that I am interested in as well as being close to family. However, The University of Findlay seems to be a better fit than Ohio Dominican because it is closer to home and I am familiar with the campus and I grew up on this campus.
Making the final college choice is a difficult decision for a student and his or her family. The final decision needs to be a balance between value and opportunity. I want to get the best opportunity for the best deal. This could be a better academic program in my major, more rigorous academics overall, a better location, internships, and a safer campus.
I’ve always thought of attending a women’s college as a cool experience. In fact, it’s been on my mind since I was in the eighth grade. However, Wesleyan has other features that make it the perfect women’s college for me to attend.
Choosing to attend college was a difficult choice, my mother is the only person in all of my family to ever attend and graduate college. My father and the rest of my family have all gone into trade work, some of them attending a trade school and some not. While all of my family does well and live a comfortable lifestyle. I have noticed through the years that my mother has always been employed even when others in my family have not and she always seems to have an easier time finding work. This is the main reasons I decided to attend college, with higher education often times comes more job security and stability. I decided to attend CU boulder specifically due to the fact that it is very close to home, as well as the fact that it is a very
As a high school senior we look into what we want to do in our future. A big part of that is college. How do students know what college has the best opportunities? How do future students narrow down their options? A few things to look at when choosing a college includes the major of your interest, the campus, dorms, and class size.
What makes a student accept one college over another? What makes a graduate excited over receiving a “Yes” from one college over another? One would probably say the “better school”, however, which school is the “better school”. College acceptance all begins with personal preference. Do I want to live far away or close to home? Do I want to attend a four year or two year college? Do I want a school that offers several sports or internship jobs? The list goes on and on, but college is a personal choice based on who you are, what you want to do, and how you want to reach your goals in life.
Experiences throughout life can help shape people into stronger, more intelligent individuals. One of the most influential experiences an individual will ever face is deciding to better their education and continue onto college. Deciding to go to college is a major investment that will effect a person for the rest of their life. Unfortunately, such a large decision can be overwhelming, and many students, like myself, have to make the difficult realization that the University they chose was not the most beneficial choice.
In addition to the beautiful campus, the flexible class options caught my attention. The fact that no core classes are required is very appealing as the university lives up the its liberal arts name. This allows me to freely explore my interests before deciding my major as I am interested in many subjects. Along with these class flexibilities, the test optional feature is paramount to me as my test scores do not show my strength. Despite having less than 4000 students, Wesleyan University is known for its diversity as many people from all over the world come to attend the college.
Wesleyan College is a school where I believe I will be challenged to the max, academically and mentally. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, a city full of diversity, life and light, where one second you may be speaking to a Cuban American, such as myself, and the next minute you might find yourself speaking to someone from the Philippines. Growing up with such an abundance of diversity has prepared me to confidently take on any situation without hesitation.
One of the most daunting decision a high school senior must make, besides deciding on what to wear to their senior prom and how to leave their mark in school, is to make their final decision on what college they want to go. Some have already had their decision made the moment they received their admission letter, while others spend most of their day on weighing the pros and cons of each college before making that final decision.
The choice of where to attend college is one of the biggest decisions that one will have to make in his lifetime. There are many things to consider when comparing colleges, but one of the most important personal choices that a future college student will have to make is whether to go away for college or to stay close to home. Each choice has its pros and cons, but which choice has more pros than cons? There are three main ideas to consider when pondering this choice: comfort, cost, and community. Staying close to home when attending college is a better choice compared to going away when considering the three ideas of comfort, cost, and community.
A big school or small, public or private, urban or rural; these are just a few of the many difficult deciding factors I faced during my college selection. At the height of my selection process, I had applied to ten schools ranging across all those factors. I was completely unsure of what I wanted to do with my life yet and had no idea what type of school I wanted. My mind wasn’t set enough on the future and I was too worried about getting through high school and working my full-time job. As it got closer to spring, I had to start making some decisions. Ultimately, I narrowed my deciding process to three factors to specifically analyze to make the right decision. Beginning with reputation, followed by student life, and lastly the financial cost to attend.

Decisions, decisions. Choosing a college is one of the most life-altering decisions that an individual can make, and choosing the right college is a stressful process for high school seniors. Personally, the process overwhelmed me, and I did not know where to begin it especially when my controlling parents did not approve any of my out-of-state choices. Although I have always been obedient and listened to my parents’ every command, I disobeyed my parents for the first time in my life when I decided to go away to college three thousand miles away from home.
Many people struggle with selecting a college today because there are so many options. Choosing a college can be a tough decision, but when you are selecting a college, you should look for one that offers your specific major. This will help you narrow down your options and help you decide on the college that is right for you. Some people prefer state universities, while others prefer private colleges.
