The reason I chose Edgar Allan Poe is because first off he kind of freaks me out, because his writing is like really dark and it is fun to read, and the last reason is because I watch this show called, “The Following” and the main character in it is obsessed Edgar Allan Poe and he basically reads his books and they are his inspiration to kill.

The 19th century American poet, Edgar Allan Poe, had been plagued by grief from an early age. He was an amazing poet and author who just happened to have a darker story. Many who have studied this prestigious man feel that his works, though magnificent, were extremely dark. Some believe it was nothing more then a fancy for him to spin such gruesome tales. Others feel his work was manipulated by the misfortune of his past. These people have actually found evidence that agrees with this statement. John Allan was a very wealthy man but he only gave Edgar a third of his school requirements and this alienated him from Edgar.
