School Uniforms
Uniforms are an outfit that all children in school wear it to be equal. The entire students in the school are Wearing uniforms. Uniforms it is a discipline and educational attainment for students’. Schools dress a role in educational attainment and its impact on students and social differences. Students should wear uniform for schools because it’s saving their time, improving their attendance and saving their money while they are wearing it.
First of all, wearing uniforms for students will help to improve students’ behavior. When students wear the uniform their behaviors improve because all of them are the same, so no one will laugh at others. Laura Clark is a writer from British Daily Mails. According to Clark (2007) in her article “Schools uniform improves pupils’ behavior” she agrees that “if the students wearing uniforms it will changing students’ behavior in the school and out of school and also inside the class students” (Clark, 2007). That means if the students wear traditional school clothes their attitude will improve in school and out of school. Also, parents and teachers see the differences that when students start to wear traditional school clothes

According to Cleveland (2006) in article “School uniforms might help attendance rates”. They agree that “in public schools students who wear school clothing they have a high rate of graduation and attitude” (Cleveland,2006).That means when students wear traditional school clothes they will not be absent any more because most of student are not coming to school because they don’t have new clothes. Also, students who wear uniforms have increase in attending rates. When students are wearing the same clothes they don’t think about the fashion, they just will focus on studying. Next, students will not take time to prepare for school. The positive side of wearing uniform is help students
First, uniforms help improve students focus on their education. It disciplines students to take their attention away from outward appearance such as clothing and places it on actual school work. Uniforms create guidelines for the student to follow which is an aspect of life that a student needs to learn. A study of a Long Beach school found that their was a 28% drop in suspensions, 51% drop in school fights, and a 34% drop in assaults after the
There are many students that go to school with low self esteems and thinking that they are not as good as others just because of their clothing. This problem could be reduced for many kids with school uniforms. Example a school in southern California made it mandatory for all student “k-8” to where a school uniform. From 1933 to 1995 the conduct had major improvement after going to school uniforms (Riley). That is a fact showing that school uniforms have an impact of student life. Another highly talked about topic is bullying, bullying can come from many things but one of the reasons student pick on other students is because of their clothing. With school uniforms every student will not have to worry about having the name brand clothing which means that puts all students on a level field. So if all kids are dressed the same that would decrease a big problem known as bullying and would also increase students self esteem.
Well studies show children with uniforms are more likely to affect the way they act in school with their behavior and their attendance. Academics are a whole other subject, uniforms are not proven to help grades climb, but it is proven to help behavior and pride in their school in which they attend. School pride is almost as important as schools academies.
Students go to school for education the school board believes that if students wear uniforms then the education rate will increase but that is actually wrong because if students are able to wear something to school that makes them comfortable then they will focused more and if they focused more the higher the chance of their education rate to increase than being in outfit that makes them uncomfortable because it will cause them to just think about how uncomfortable the outfit is
The article likewise says, “A 2010 study by researchers at the University of Houston found that the average absence rate for girls in middle and high school decreased by 7% after the introduction to uniforms.” Not only do uniforms result in a higher attendance rate, but they also improve disciplinary actions. “During the first semester of a mandatory uniform program at John Adams Middle School in Albuquerque,NM, discipline referrals dropped from 1,565 during the first semester of the year prior to 405.” When uniforms are mandatory, students are not worried about getting in trouble for their clothes matching dress code
School uniforms have been a commonly debated topic for many years. Some schools feel as though having uniforms is requisite for better school programs. In fifth grade, I attended a school that required students to wear uniforms. I did not like the idea of uniforms initially, simply because I wanted to wear the clothes that I chose, but as time progressed, I realized that all that time I had been reaping the benefits of having school uniforms. Uniforms are advantageous for a school because they help improve the behavioral issues found in students, level the playing field among social classes, and provide a safer environment for students and staff.
To begin with, school uniforms promote positive behavior. They cut out bullying over trendy clothes. It can also lower the wall between the more wealthy students and the poorer students. Uniforms will cut out dress code problems by female students wearing inappropriate clothing. Therefore, saving class time for instruction. Uniforms will give a more professional feel to the school, thus creating a more professional student body.
When students wear uniforms, students do not improve in any way. Student’s academic scores do not go higher when they wear a uniform. Researcher Virginia Draa found that “implementing a uniform policy in schools did not have any impact on academic performance”. If schools are hoping for their student’s academic scores to go higher by implementing uniforms, they would be better off without uniforms. Wearing uniforms don’t help a student’s attitude. A 2010 study in a large urban school district in the Southwest found that asking students to wear uniforms did not result in any change in the number of suspensions for elementary school students. Student’s behavior won’t change, if schools wanted to implement uniform. Uniforms don’t have any positive impact on students,
School uniforms should definitely be used in school systems. Uniforms are both good for schools as well as for the students. Wearing uniforms will help build a sense of unity within the school. Instead of everyone as a separate team, everyone will be in the same team. Wearing uniforms will help free students of the stress of what to wear in the morning. Wearing school uniforms will help improve student individuality and improve their self-esteem.
To begin with, a diminutive history about this important topic. Uniforms have been around for many years, according to ProCon.org, the original documented practice of school uniforms was in England in the year 1222. Students were mandatory to dress a robe-like suit called a 'cappa clausa. ' Nevertheless, it wasn 't up until the 16th era that contemporary school uniforms made a presence in verified ancient times. "Uniforms give schools a sense of uniqueness and cohesion," said author and historian Alexander Davidson. This tradition of wearing uniform back in the old days has giving the world a better place to live, since those amazing students were focus on their academics rather that clothing as a result, the world is enjoying all the benefit of it, for instance, we have known or read about great leaders, inventors, doctors, nurses, teachers. All because they were focused in making this world a better place to lived.
School uniforms keep students focused on their education not in their clothings. When all students are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with their peers. It’s easier for parent and students do not spend time choosing appropriate outfit for school day. It helps students can only concentrate on their schoolwork. Education is one of the big institutions for every kid that go to school. Also education is the roots that will help people the rest of their lives and will bright in their future. Many people believe that each school should have its own uniform not only to show their pride for their school, but also to prevent attacks by students from one particular school on students from a rival school. School with uniform is students can’t attempts to skip because when someone see them in public with their uniform they can report them to the authorities, which will create big problems at home and at school. School uniform has acted as a deterrent to truancy.
While wearing uniforms, students have to obey and follow the rules, so they will learn how to respect others. An article reports “Teachers and principals often report that discipline problems are reduces in schools that implements a standardized dress program.” (School Uniforms). In addition, wearing school uniforms is a step of preparation for professional life. When you have a job, you will have to wear uniforms. Whether you are a doctor or a nurse, you are in the same position. School uniforms also help students to realize that they are a part of a group, so they feel liked they belong and learn to take responsibility for whatever they do.
Students believe that the way they are dressed is more important than the grades they make. The students with less money, that can’t buy all the newest clothes, tend to not go to school as much, because they won’t fit in. There for students in schools with uniform will have more time to focus on more important things, like school work. With uniforms students don’t have to go to the mall every week looking for new clothes to wear. Also if a school has no uniforms students will feel that they need to have a certain look to fit in, and many will be ridiculed if they don’t achieve this “look.”
An advantage of having school uniforms is it maintains students focus on education. Students are more likely to be centralized on the information taught by teachers. They will not be concerned about others clothing because everyone is wearing the same outfit. School uniforms improve the learning environment because it decreases the amount of bullying. Therefore, students get a better education because they are relaxed and can concentrate to their best. School uniforms prepare students for the real world. “Students learn responsibility by having a dress code because they have to keep the uniforms clean throughout the week” (Can the use of School Uniforms). When it comes
School uniforms are starting to be enforced more and more in schools as time goes on. Uniforms might limit self expression in their clothes but it does not limit their learning which is the whole purpose of going to school after all. School uniforms in both private and public schools can be beneficial to students in regards of their social and academic skills. School uniforms can help prevent bullying and will make it easier on some students and parents as well. This debate whether school uniforms should be enforced or not has been a debate that has been going on for years and having uniforms has more of a positive impact than a negative
