Imagine your life being slowly sucked away because of a cigarette that costed you money. This is the real truth of what a cigarette does to your life and more than enough reasons on why minors shouldn’t smoke. It has been studied that before smoking, minors would do exceptional on their tests that they took at school, but after they started their test scores started to lessen by about 0.08 percent each day from one cigarette. Many teen smokers say that smoking for their age is alright, as they get a “high” from it and they have a good time. Also, because minors are still in the process of their brains developing, the vapor that they inhale and exhale messes around with many of the genes inside of their brain. One study shows, that new data, from animals and human cells, show that vapors released by e-cigarettes and normal cigarettes can alter the activity of many genes (Raloff, 2). According to the evidence, minors shouldn’t smoke because the vapor messes with their brain, that they need to use for school and other activities they do throughout the day. Furthermore, minors shouldn’t smoke because even the U.S. has seen the threat of it and banned it in 48 different states. Janet Raloff said, “Worried about the rapid growth in e-cig use by teens, at least 48 U.S. states have banned the sale of vaping supplies to minors (people under the age of 18 or 19)’’(Raloff, 8). The evidence suggests minors shouldn’t smoke because the U.S. has seen the potential threat to it country and banned it.
One last reason why teens shouldn’t smoke is because it makes you depressed which can cause you to do suicide, make bad decisions, etc. “Scientists found out that among smokers, the activity of 53 genes was depressed, or lower than usual, when compared to those who neither smoked nor vaped”(Raloff,
