I am a senior at Mooreville High School who is in a contest to win $25,000. I am also a musician who plays at talent shows, festivals, and restaurants. I am not employed, which is a major problem because senior year is very costly, and so is playing gigs. I have been searching for employment all summer, but I have not had any luck. My parents can afford to pay for my senior year, however, I do not think the both of them should pay for the costs when I am able to work and can help them out. I am able to work and can drive a vehicle, but that is the other problem...my car is not very reliable. A more dependable vehicle could get me to school, work, and my gigs I play. I am a hard worker who will go to the extreme to get my work done …show more content…
The last luxury item I would buy would be a Samsung Surround Sound System to go with my brand new TV. All the items I have chosen to buy are expensive, but they are the items I need and not Items I want. The most expensive thing on my list is the 2016 Dodge Charger R/T which is $18,184.65. This takes an enormous chunk out of the $25,000, but it is a new and dependable car that will help me get to work, school, and my gigs. Also, I would buy a set of TSW Chicane Gunmetal rims to go on my car and a set costs $325.28. The next item I would buy would be my graduation cap, gown, diploma, and diploma cover which is $85.00 even and still leaves me with enough money for my other needs and wants. As I mentioned above, I am a musician, and us musicians love to expand our instrumental atmosphere. The next few items I would buy would be an Epiphone Les Paul which would be $640.93, an Epiphone DR-212 12-string Acoustic Guitar which is $207.24, and finally, I would buy a Ddrum Reflex drum set in the color white which goes for $567.73. These instruments are more advanced and would help me expand my musical horizon. The last items would be luxury items for myself, but I could also use them for my own residence after I move out of my parents’ house. The first luxury item I would buy would be an Insignia Smart TV that I could use for watching regular TV and Netflix when I am not in college or at work and is $160.49. An accessory that would go
I have many feelings about being a Sophomore. Mainly they are mixed emotions, a fusion of excitement and dread. Starting off this year I am looking forward to no longer being a freshman. While we are yet to be upperclassmen, it is still a better standpoint in my opinion. On the other hand, I am mainly hesitant about being back at school in general, the early mornings, rushing, and stress from classwork. Aside from the basics, I am hesitant about my class schedule, it appears to be quite daunting with a mix of normal and accelerated classes alike.
After four years of high school, there is only one goal I have in mind. That goal is to attend college. This is the next big step in my life. All the late nights I stayed up to complete school assignment was for this moment. All my hard work was has lead me to this point in life. College will open a whole new to me. A world where I can meet new people while working to improve my future. Why do I want to attend college though? Well I have three specific reasons for this decision.
There might be a time where people ask you, “why are you in college” or “why to decide to go to college.” People might reply by saying that they want a degree, that they want a higher paying job, or they need that for a future career that they are pursuing. Those responses are the most typical reason of why people go to college. Sure you can say that having a degree means that a person can get a better job with better pay rather than working in the manual labor fields with minimum pay. A college degree is the fundamental stepping stone to the future, it lays the foundation of where to start. College is everything to me; I’m in college so I’m able to unlock more potential in myself, to be able to make my mother proud with everything that she has done and hopefully becoming the first.
The reason why I am I college is so I can become a counselor. My dream is to help people because it is something that I am good at. In high school I ran for vice president of my senior class so I can help our senior year be the best (I won of course). I listened to what everyone wanted to do that year and my student government and I made some of it happened. I was also a part of two teams in high school, the soccer team and the swimming team. Being part of of these teams I would help my teammates during our games and meet; couching them in what they are doing right and wrong. After high school I started working in a retail store, footlocker as a cashier and till this day I still have my job. As a cashier we get many complaints in the day by our customer when they feel like they did not get the proper customer service or when the merchandise is unwanted or destroyed. My job is to listened to the customer and make sure they are satisfied with how they got treated in the store. Since I have been in my job for so long, I also help the new people that come in by training them. Doing all of the things made me
As Andrea is in the formal operational stage, the connection between her drinking and how it affects her is apparent. Her ability to use deductive reasoning emerges at this stage by increasing her drinking habits to determine specific outcomes. In this scenario, Andrea’s outcomes from drinking benefit her socially and emotionally. Adolescents at this age are able to think about abstract concepts and think about hypothetical situations and possible results of their actions. Moreover, adolescents have the ability to consider various solutions to problem-solve before acting.
I come from a low-income family with a household of eight people. I have my dad, my six siblings, and my mother passed away a few years ago. As a first-generation college student I felt so many emotions. I came from a high school that didn’t prepare me for college courses and that became a problem. What made it worse was that my dad didn’t go to college, so I couldn’t go to him for help. I was scared, depressed, unprepared, I was doing everything on my own. I also felt like I didn’t belong because I believed I wasn’t as smart as the other students or “rich” enough. When I first arrived at UC Davis, I was immediately intimidated. All of the other students seemed so educated and professional and I just compared myself to them without even getting to know them. Let me tell you, getting here wasn’t easy and I know it wasn’t easy for you either, so feel accomplished. You made it! Now that you’re in UC Davis, you will be expected to work hard. Times may get rough, but just remember that help is out there. Take advantage and don’t be afraid or ashamed to seek help.
Growing up, I heard the same questions. What do I want to be when I grow up? Am I going to attend college? If so which one? What am I going to study when I get there? Throughout my childhood, I was always taught if I wanted a good job with a high paying salary I would obtain it through higher education. As I grew up I understood that my college education was not about the money, but the core curriculum in the education.
I want to hold the position for Miss Freshman because I know that I’d be a great representative. Everyone is equal so I cannot say that I will be better than anyone, but I can certainly say that I will do my best. I am capable of taking on the challenges that lie ahead if I am voted for this position. I know if I were Miss Freshman of the class of 2020 I could make a couple of major changes in the students. I am a good leader, I’m very dependable, and I know how to set good examples. I am also a very reliable person and any task that I receive will be one of my main priorities. I am an approachable person and an awesome communicator and listener. My best effort will absolutely be put into this job. I am a very well organized and neat person. I am also an assertive person and I am without a doubt going to
I would like to be a member of the yearbook staff because it includes many things that I find interesting. I enjoy working with a team to accomplish something, working on a project that will have a finished product, and I love photography, writing, drawing out plans, and anything that includes having fun. I think I could contribute a lot to the yearbook with my skills of leadership, creativity, and determination.
Although the first year of high school is a big transition, it’s crucial in determining the remaining years of high school because, First, having good grades will determine whether or not you get accepted the university you want and there are more opportunities for scholarships. Second, joining a club in high school will give you an insight in leadership and teamwork. Third, Slacking of your freshman year in high school is a bad thing to do because it will affect your senior year and all the classes you missed or failed, you will have to retake all of them. Lastly, all of these factors all come into play your senior year they can either help you or make your high school years miserable. First, having good grades in your freshman year will open up the doors to more opportunities coming your way. My freshman year wasn't the best I got D's and C's and almost failed two classes. Laziness played a big factor in why I got bad grades I was lazy to do homework and any projects. I had some advice from my cousin’s they would always tell me not to mess up freshman year, but, I ignored them and you start to pay for it senior year by retaking all those classes you failed. To get better grades I set up a planner and wrote down due dates and set up a time organizer at home and this helped me better organize my time to do the work. My advice to all new freshmen is to set up a work schedule for your work it will better your studying habits and make you aware of due dates and the time you
Utopia by Thomas More, and The Symposium by Plato are similar in that they both challenge pre-existing notions in society. The two stories prompt readers to reconsider certain aspects of life which one might have found to be quite one-sided. Thomas More introduces us to an island called Utopia which serves as a model of perfection in each facet of everyday life. In The Symposium, Plato and his friends contribute distinctive interpretations on the origin and meaning of love. Both author’s purpose in their writings was to confront ideas in which society has a rather common shared perception of.
Why is it important to go to college? The generation before us says to be successful in today’s modern world you must go to college. I think that’s entirely true, but not everyone can afford it. For some people, college is not for them, but with the rise of animation and technology, all of the jobs will get taken by robots, all around the world. To stop this from happening we must get the right education so technology does not take over. That is why we should start off small and make community college free of tuition in the Yakima Valley. Making tuition free in the Yakima Valley will help fill the education gap at the bottom, the numbers gap and provide the right stuff.
I know exactly what I want to be become. I want to become one of the greats, and discover things that could change someone’s entire life. I do not want to go into medicine for the money, or even the praise that would come along with being titled a neurosurgeon. I have decided to pursue medicine because I know that it will continually challenge me and push me past my limits.
I have been thinking about high school since was young. I thought it was so far away and now I am ready to graduate middle school and go to high school. This got me thinking about college. I realize that I need to find a high school that will help me succeed and reach my goal of going to college. I need a program that will help me find new things that will interest me. As an 8th grader getting ready to go into high school I was looking at applications and, I came across Lake View High School and I was intrigued. As I read on I was satisfied with what I read because I know that this program will help me succeed in high school and college. Knowing that, I really want to be a part of this school.
I come from a family of one brother and a sister I am the oldest of the two. For the past year I've been working at whataburger as being a cashier to pay for my own academic dues and things that are necessary that my parents don't need to give me and having the responsibility for my own.
