Should certain dog breeds be banned?
Do you have a dog? Do you love them more than anything? Well, what would you do if your dog's breed was about to be restricted? That is what I will be discussing today and I'm trying to stop the restriction of certain and specific dog breeds. I will be showing off all the wonderful things so called "aggressive" dog breeds have done.
First off, according to dogguide.net the top three most aggressive dog breeds aren't what you would think. In fact, these dogs are not big dogs at all! From first to third place on the aggressive list is the Dachshund, the Chihuahua, and the Jack Russel terrier. Which is weird considering that the popularity rate of these dogs is much higher than that of bigger dogs such as Pit bulls,

Now please, tell me exactly why this dog did this if it is supposed to be so mean. Well, that is exactly my point, very seldom do the wrong doings of these types of dogs outweigh the good. As a matter of fact it's not just this story, it's so many like it that don’t make it right to ban these dogs.
On beforeitsnews.com a story of another so called "aggressive" dog breed saving two young girls from a puma attack near their home. Morocho, a dog argentino, ( Which is another breed that is called aggressive)was pronounced a hero for killing a puma and saving the lives of his two young masters as they fled. This is yet another incredibly heroic dog from a so called "aggressive" breed.
Another thing, some of the dog attacks that happened are intentional, because even if this dog knows better it's master may be a cruel person, so it may not always be the dogs intention of what happens. However, as much as it pains me to say, the website dogbitelaw.com says that there are several dog attacks each year and as this number increases yearly, more and more dogs are being dubbed
B. According to Cesar Millan “All dogs can become aggressive, but the difference between an aggressive Chihuahua and an aggressive pit bull is that the pit bull can do more damage. That's why it's important to make sure you are a hundred percent ready for the responsibility if you own a 'power' breed, like a pit bull, German shepherd, or Rottweiler” (Millan, 2001-2016).
Dogs seem to be one of the most common and beloved pets in our society. Many even consider their dog to be a family member. One thing that is especially great about dogs is that there are many different breeds of dogs out there that have different characteristics, and traits. Which gives people the option to choose the type of dog that is right for them, but one breed in particular has been banned in various places, and discriminated against that breed being pit bulls. Breed specific legislation targets pit bulls based on misconceptions, appearance, and poor knowledge about the breed.
Contrary to population beliefs in society, Pit Bulls not as aggressive than they are thought to be. According to testing by The National Canine Temperament Testing Association, Golden Retrievers, Poodles, Border Collies, English Setters, and a number of many other breeds are considered more likely to become aggressive than the breeds known as Pit Bulls. While the
Have you ever owned a dog? Encountered a dog with aggressive behavior? Such as possibly being run after by a dog, consistent barking/growling, and or maybe being bitten by a dog. The answer may be a yes to at least first question. Dogs are great companions they are known as being a man’s best friend. Pit bulls are American Pit Bull Terrier, they have essentially been labeled the face of an “aggressive” dog problem. For this paper I have interviewed Adam Hill. He is an adjunct faculty member in the English Department at Columbus State Community College, he is a father, and husband. This problem seems as if it falls back onto the owner of the dog rather than the breed, although the Pit Bull breed is largely known as having an alpha dog mentality,
These dogs do not deserve the treatment the are being given. In 1996 the odds of dying in a dog attack was one in 11,534,087 (Delise 100). The latest statics of dying in a dog attack was in 2005 and it was one in 147,717 (Britt). The only reason the odds are up is the increase in population. Another reason is the amount of damage that happens, Dr. Sandi Sawchuk said “...If someone did the same research on Chihuahuas, they would probably find that there are more bites, but they’re less reported due to insignificant damage” (Pisani). Dr. James Serpell and friends did that exact test and found that smaller dogs tend to show more aggression towards humans. Ninety-three percent of Pit Bulls are being euthanized before even being put up for adoption,
When you mention the words Pit Bull, many times people immediately begin talking about the statistics of them attacking other people as well as other dogs. A survey was conducted in 2009 of attack percentages of Pit Bulls compared to other breeds such as Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Chows. Among this survey, the Pit Bull breed scored the lowest with a 0.00125 and the highest being the Rottweiler with a score of 0.00433 (https://defendpitbulls.com/pit-bull-attack-statistics/). On the website Dogsbite.org, it states that Pit-Bulls are the leading culprit in dog attacks, this is just a broad statistic which does not adequately explain whether these attacks were of
What if I told you a part of the reason that they are such “ dangerous dogs” is because , of the fiction rumors and stereotypes we the people put on them. The rumors as well as false reporting caused BSL ( breed specific legislation ) to strongly enforce and create , unfair laws and regulations that coarse
This breed of dog may be very dangerous but so could any other fairly large breed. The media purposely over reports all pit bull attack, and even if the breed is unknown they will call it a pit bull if possible. Also, any other dog attack goes unmentioned in the
“If somebody is too stupid to understand the fundamental immorality of dog fighting, you’re never going to be able to explain it to him” (Kevin Hench). Most people think that pit bulls have locking jaws. This is false however; no dog breed in the whole world has locking jaws. Dogs are not always aggressive how they are raised and trained determines the behavior of a dog. Dogs have tendencies to be aggressive only if not trained properly. The discrimination against pit bulls is wrong and uncalled for. Pit bulls are not the only culprits of attacks and death to humans. Dog fighting and stray pits are the fault of the people who own them. It is man kind’s job to take care of and be responsible for their dogs. Why should the dogs be punished
Pit Bulls, one of the American societies famous bully breeds is too often stereotyped as malicious animals, but that stereotype is false due to evidence that pit bulls can be just as loving as the iconic golden retriever. According to the American Temperament Test, which is a test that focuses on and measures different aspects of temperament such as stability, shyness, aggressiveness, friendliness and self-preservation in the face of a threat shows that Pit Bulls have a temperament of 86.8%, (American Temperament Test Society) a much higher percentage than other breeds which justifies that these animals can withstand a higher tolerance
First, Their violent from their past. They used to be used with bulls and that is why they are so strong and known for being vicious. They used to go through lots of physical abuse to supposedly train them for their fighting and to keep them in shape. When they weren’t fighting, An article entitled The Most Feared Dogs May also be the most Misunderstood said. “They were then trained to fight against each other after they were not allowed to do the stuff they used to do. Another website talked about how “They don’t know they are really fighting to see who is the best, From their perspective they think they are just playing with one another.”
A pit bulls actions can be determined by the way they are raise, you just happen to see all the bad stuff on the news. According to http://tvblogs.nationalgeographic.com “ pit bulls receive horrible press and the internet is full of misconceptions and untruths about the normally sweet and gorgeous breed of dog.” Pit bulls are discriminated on the internet for bad actions some people have witnessed. Some people believe these dogs are great but according to http://www.city-journal.org these dogs should be feared. “ Pit bull owners had converted the little park into a dog training ground, where they goaded their animals into attacking one another or taught the to hang from branches to strengthen their jaw and their tenacity.” This is how someone raised their dog to be, they either raise them to be fighters or sweet loving animals, it is not their fault. These dogs attitudes depend on their
They aren’t born aggressive. A dog's breed has far less to do with aggression than owner-dependent factors such as how a dog is trained. If a dog was raised to fight or was brought up in a poor home environment, the dog is more likely to be aggressive regardless of its breed. The American Temperament Test Society evaluated the temperaments of various dog breeds, 85.3% of American Pitbull Terriers passed the test whereas other breeds such as Border Collies and Old English Sheep Dogs ranked in the 70th percentile. In many cases, the influence of owners have no effect on the conduct of the dog. Take Lilly, for example. Lilly was a Pitbull gifted to an alcoholic as a method of sobering her up. As any humans can infer, living with an alcoholic is no easy vocation, even for a dog. However, Lily’s hard home life didn’t clog her judgement. One night, Lilly’s owner passed out on a pair of train tracks with a train hot in pursuit. Thanks to none other than Lilly, her owner was pulled off the tracks just in time. Although her owner escaped without scratch, Lilly wasn’t as fortunate. Even with life-threatening injuries, Lilly remained by her owner’s side until help arrived. Ultimately, Lilly had to undergo several serious surgeries and ended up losing a leg. Lilly, a pitbull, put her inattentive owner’s life above her own. Even today, Lilly and her owner remain best friends even though that commitment almost cost her her
I will be explaining why: Reason 2 “This dog may be a good breed but it is very dangerous because of Reason 1 They can be very aggressive sometimes and it can sometimes provoke people to get scared and some to even get a heart attack because of how scared they can be. Some people have also witnessed these dogs being aggressive towards little kids, which would make them cry or get too scared. They are not a really easy one to interact with, because of how aggressive they can be
Pit Bulls are among the top percentage of dog bites across the nation, but it partly due to the misrepresentation. Most handlers just see a similarity to a Pit Bull’s physical appearance and then the dog is classified as such. The media always misrepresents and wrongly accuses Pit Bulls, they are always quick to name the pit bull breed as the attacking dog. The government also does the same thing if a dog has similarities to a Pit Bull, then it is automatically classified as a Pit Bull even if it’s not correct. They don’t care about
