There are many reasons as to why college education is important to me. One of them is my motivation to continue my knowledge for my career at Nebraska Furniture Mart as the Loss Prevention Manager. Another reason is that I hope to inspire the young people who work with me and work for me that they can also further their education no matter how old or young they may be. I have set a goal to finish all of my college education so that I may show the CEO of Nebraska Furniture Mart that I am willing and able to strive to further my career and knowledge by earning my Associate’s Degree with Ashworth College. I need to stay up-to-date on the most recent information to be the best Loss Prevention Manager. By taking this class and future classes, I know that I can make wise decisions when directing my co-workers and colleagues around the work area. Learning new things will help me to increase my ability to think critically and abstractly and to express my thoughts clearly in writing and in speech (N/A, 2015). I may discover other goals along the way, as I learn more about security and technology. By taking one class, I could find out about more classes in my line of work that I would like to take. I don’t think that age means anything when it comes to going to college, whether it be online or on campus. There are many reasons that people can’t further their education, but by going back it means that they are determined to gain skills and further their accomplishments. I am 56 years old and am now just starting college for the first time. I hope to be a great role model who encourages everyone else to better themselves.

I believe that college is the right choice for me. I’ve grown up looking forward to advancing my education and creating a foundation for a future career. Both of my parents are college graduates and ingrained in me from a young age that college is the path to success. My aunts, uncles, and cousins are also highly successful after completing college. All the adults that make an impact in my life have gone to college, and I believe if I continue advancing my education I will turn out extremely successful.

A college degree is important for a variety of reasons for both the young and the old, namely to develop or improve one’s trade skills, to experience different cultures and to increase one’s educational background in order to attain a higher paying job. For me, a college degree is important because it will help me to attain the educational background I need to make myself more marketable in the ever changing workforce. It will also provide me with the confidence and skills needed to apply for a better paying job or aid me in attaining the ever elusive promotion, if I so desire.
Continuing my education has been a goal of mine for some time, but I haven’t made the commitment until now. There are several reason why I chose to return to school after so long, the primary reason being advancement opportunities in my career. My other motivating factor is my daughter. Ever since I was a child, I had always been bombarded with the same question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. I was quite indecisive so my answers changed from astronaut to scientist to lawyer to president almost every other week. Every child has a dream, whether it’s to be a doctor, a police officer or a fire fighter. As a child I always had one dream: I wanted to become a teacher. Many days I would come home after school, along with my sisters and cousins, and play “school.” I was always the teacher. I would stand by the door, papers in hand, giving them work to do. I especially liked spelling tests. When they were finished with all of their work, they would go outside to “recess” while I graded their tests. Coming to Western Kentucky University, I have high hope and expectations. I admit that I want to have a lot of fun socially, but I also want to succeed academically.
