Why Are Misunderstood?

This definition, if true, can explain why we are misunderstood so often. We construct a statement in our mind first which is then expressed, or thought or even signalled. But our mental representations corresponding to the components of an expression could be different from the representations listener has attached with those components. This difference is a result of both nature and nurture because of which the intended meaning and the understood meaning is different and the listener is said to have misunderstood. This is why some physical gestures which are, even though, made out of respect, turn out to be offensive or rude. One question that must be raised is why the understanding of the listener is given the preference over the understanding
