The two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, took their lives at the end of the story. What caused this to happen? Who is to blame for this? Leading up to their deaths, Juliet took a potion that made her appear dead and because Friar Laurence's letter didn’t get to Romeo on time, Romeo believed she was dead. So, Romeo went to visit Juliet in the crypt and took a potion to kill himself because he was so heartbroken. Then, Juliet wakes up to find Romeo dead and ends up killing herself with Romeo’s dagger. I believe that Lord and Lady Capulet, Juliet’s parents, are to blame for their deaths. They did many things that caused the two lovers to end up killing themselves. One of the reasons I believe Lord and Lady Capulet are to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is …show more content…
At the beginning of the story, in Act 1 Scene 1, Gregory and Sampson, the Capulet servants, get in a fight with a few Montague men in the street because of the ongoing feud. This shows us that the feud isn’t just in the past, but it is still happening in the streets of Verona. Another reason I believe that Lord and Lady Capulet are to blame for their deaths is that they forced Juliet to marry Paris and threatened to disown her if she didn’t. Besides, she had just married Romeo and is now being forced to marry Paris. In Act 3 Scene 5, Lord Capulet says to Juliet, “Get thee to church a Thursday, or never after look me in the face, speak not, reply not, do not answer me.” This only shows a small portion of how harsh Lord Capulet was to Juliet. In this direct quote, he is telling her either she gets married to Paris on Thursday or she should never speak to him again. If I was Juliet I would feel horrible because the man I love just got banished from Verona and now I am being forced to marry some man I don't even know. This causes her to go to Friar Laurence and beg him to help her get out of getting married to Paris and threatens to kill herself if he
There are many other characters that can be blamed in part for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the whole story their lives had been controlled and criticized by many people. Lord Capulet is one of the people that is to blame for romeo and his own daughters death. After tybalt's death, he insisted that Juliet marry Paris immediately or he threatens that he will sudden her. Her only choice seems
Firstly, some people believe that the parents of Romeo and Juliet were to blame for their deaths because of the ongoing feud between the two families. The argument between the Montague’s and Capulets is mentioned in the prologue, ‘Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break, to new mutiny, where civil hands make civil hands unclean, from
Lord Capulet, who is Juliet's father, is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s tragic death. One reason as to why Lord Capulet is to blame for the two lovers' deaths is he decided to inform Juliet she’d be disowned and removed from their glorious home if she didn’t agree to marry Paris (Act 2). This is a very powerful reason as to why Lord Capulet is to blame for his daughter’s death.
There are three characters in the story of Romeo and Juliet that take some and most of the blame on the death of the two Romeo and Juliet. Two of the characters take some of the blame while the third character takes all of the blame. The two characters that take some of the blame are Lady Capulet And Lord Capulet. Lady Capulet is married to Lord Capulet and have a daughter named Juliet. The third person that takes most of the blame for their death is not a person at all. It is fate. These three characters are the reason why Romeo and Juliet take their lives. ("DBQ: Romeo and Juliet: Who's to Blame". Doc.B,A,D)
Who was at fault for Romeo and Juliet’s death? Although some disagree, I think that Romeo is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Women in the 14th century did not have much of a choice in their lives, and Romeo should know this. Only after he killed Tybalt did Capulet change his mind about the marriage. To begin with, Romeo killing Tybalt made the marriage worse.
Another reason Lady and Lord Capulet are to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths is that they threatened to disown her if she didn’t marry Paris. The book states, “An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For, by my soul, I'll ne'er acknowledge thee, Nor what is mine shall never do thee good. Trust me, bethink you. I will not be forsworn.” (Act III, Scene V, Lines 193-196).
They get married, then end up taking their own lives because of their love. Lord Capulet is Juliet’s father, and he is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death. He is guilty because he sends an illiterate servant to invite the people on the list. Lord Capulet is also guilty because he plans for Juliet to marry someone she does not want to marry and when she rejects, he gets furious and threatens to disown her.
Who in the play was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? In the play “Romeo and Juliet” it is about two teenagers who meet and instantly fall in love. Due to their parents' hate for each other, it makes it difficult to be with each other. They try it anyway, which doesn't work out and eventually, leads to their death. Lord and Lady Capulet were so hard on Juliet and took it too far, they are the ones to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Lord and Lady Capulet are to blame because they became angry with Juliet too quickly when she did not support their plan for her future. In Act Three, Scene Five, Line 160, Capulet responds to Juliet's refusal to marry Paris by saying, "Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch. I tell the what- get thee to church a Thursday or never after look me in the face..." This is the first time we see Juliet put her
Lady and Lord Capulet are the ones to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths.Lord and Lady Capulet are to blame because they force their daughter into marriage. When Lord Capulet is talking to Paris about the marriage he states, “Monday! ha, ha! well, Wednesday is too soon. A Thursday let it be- a Thursday, tell her, she shall be married to this noble earl.” (3.4.22-24) Lord Capulet forcing his daughter into marriage with Paris. In addition, Lady Capulet wants Juliet to get married.Lady Capulet states “well, think of marriage now. Younger than you, here in Verona, ladies of esteem, are made already mothers.”(1.3.75-78)To prove that Lady Capulet is trying to talk her daughter into marriage at the age of 13, She states how all of these girl younger
I also think Capulet and lady capulet are to blame as well. This is because he had arranged for Juliet to get married to Paris who was nothing alike Juliet. If the father of Juliet would of just listened to her, but instead Capulet ignored Juliet and took decisions into his own hands when its Juliet’s marriage. That is why I thinkCapulet is the reason for the death. Lady Capulet and capulet could also if they had just listened to there daughter instead of thinking about themeselfs, then everything would have gone to plan. Lady Capulet and capulet is too busy worrying about there selves , and they are acting like they have no time for Juliet.
disobedient wretch!” ( 3.5.180-81 ). The Capulet also said this “An you be not, hang, beg, starve, die in the streets, For, by my soul, I’ll ne’er acknowledge thee, Nor what is mine shall never do thee good” ( 3.5. 220-22 ). Basically what the Capulet is saying in my first quote is because she does not want to marry Paris she is disobeying him. The next quote i wrote that the Capulet said, is that he will disown Juliet if she does not marry Paris. I think that is what pushed Juliet to go to the friar and become so stressed. If the Capulet gave her more time to process things and not threaten her, she would not have tried to kill herself if the Friar did not come up with a plan. To add on to why I believe the Capulet is at fault is because he moved up the wedding a day, messing up the Friar's plan.To Show why it's the Capulets fault for rushing the wedding, is when he said “ Go, nurse, go with her. We’ll to church tomorrow” ( 4.2.40-41).The Capulet moving the wedding forward cause the Friar's plan to fail. It failed because the Friar was supposed to send someone out on Wednesday but he did not get word that the wedding was moved up a day so Romeo did not get the Friar's
While several characters share the blame for the deaths of the star-crossed lovers, the guiltiest of all are Lady and Lord Capulet. Lady and Lord Capulet both have a strong opinion on how they want their daughter, Juliet’s life to turn out. Being with Romeo? Not on their list: “Well, girl, thou weep’st not so much for his death/ As that the villain lives which slaughter’d him” (III.v. 80-81).
Lord Capulet is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he has a house party, forced Juliet’s marriage, and dislike of other family.
In conclusion, Lord Capulet is to blame for the deaths of Romeo an Juliet because he started the feud, caused family members to die and had a bad connection with Juliet. We can learn from their deaths that you should not rush through things and that you should take time to spend with your family when growing
