Noel Diaz Mr.Gelormini Economics 2 September, 2015 The trial of the electric car America today has an addiction, gasoline an overpriced fuel that we use daily in our lives. In the film Who Killed the Electric Car they talk about the murder of the electric car, a car that is eco friendly, reliable, and is not costing us lives in the middle east. This addiction we have is costing us lives, over using natural resources, and prices are going up every year. The electric car is not just a social problem it is a political problem that has gone for profit than to actually solve economic issues. In California The history of the electric car has not been forgtten and the murder of the electric car wich was replaced with the fossil
The Eighteenth Amendment, created during President Wilson Era, prohibited the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcohol. The Eighteenth Amendment was created because of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) that said that drinking alcohol causes a lot of problems in the society, but the WCTU couldn't establish any law for the prohibition of alcohol. So the Anti-Saloon League (ASL) was created to advance the ideas of the WCTU. The ASL convinced politicians to support the Women’s Christian Temperance Union using pressure politics. Finally, on January 17th, 1920, Eighteenth Amendment was created to prohibit the commerce of alcohol. With this Amendment, the quantity of deaths, suicides, traffic accidents, family arguments, aggression
Everyone around the country needs to work to lower emissions into the air to reduce the greenhouse gases trapping heat in the atmosphere. I am not a fan of electric vehicles but, they are better for the environment than gas or diesel vehicles. They release less gases into the air and can be recharged almost anywhere with solar panel charger adapters. Some companies like, Tesla and VIA (General Motors Company) have made a dream for a person to own and be able to afford one.
During my highschool career, I have been apart of many groups that one might not commonly associate with each other. I am currently apart of the Waxahachie chapter of the FFA, the Waxahachie Theatre Arts Program, and the Waxahachie Swim Team. These organizations are not commonly associated with one another, and it is due to the types of people who take part in each. Being apart of all of these groups has prepared me for my future goals by allowing me to work with several different groups of people, and they have taught me many different life lessons which will help me to succeed in accomplishing my lifetime goals. Our FFA chapter has a greenhouse that I currently manage.
The topic of this paper is America’s foreign oil dependency. The purpose of this paper is to suggest how might America completely destroy or at least greatly mitigate its dependency on crude oil to fuel Americans’ cars, especially foreign crude oil. Library literature, newspaper articles, encyclopedias, and the Internet were all sources used to compile this paper. The conclusion reached in this research topic is that America’s great foreign oil dependency is a crisis and other energy sources to fuel our cars need to be adopted and implemented before the people
Electric cars impose a serious risk on the oil and gas industry. The extent by which this market succeeds reciprocally defines the extent by which the oil and gas industry deteriorates. As with all forms of technology, there comes a point in time where one form of technology no longer appears to be useful in comparison with an applicable alternative. The current inhibitors of electric car adoption are the price of batteries and vehicle performance. With that being said, battery prices dropped over 30% just last year and are expected to continue dropping. Projections estimate that 35% of cars will have a plug by 20401. However, even in the next few years, companies such as Tesla, Chevrolet, and Nissan plan to offer electric cars on the market at an affordable price. The question then becomes: when the oil and gas market will be displaced by the electric market? If both markets produce a vehicle of similar price and quality, then it is reasonable to assume that a customer will choose the option that is more eco-friendly. The moral issue still remains: should the vehicles of tomorrow be fueled by gasoline or are viable options readily available and acceptable?
General motors is a relevant social group because they are the ones who manufactured and sold the EV1. They originally decided to abide by the
William Morrison in Des Moines Lowa successfully created the electric cars in the year 1890. The electric car became very popular in America during the late 1890’s and early 1900’s. People loved the electric car more than the steam car because it is more quiet and didn’t excrete putrid fumes and especially easy to control. But sadly the engines could not go over 20 miles per hour and of course the battery had to be charged frequently, which is difficult to the owner because not all the places have power socket for charging the car. And eventually the gasoline engine replaced the electric car.
Cars, just about every household in America has probably at least two parked in their driveway at any given time. The dependency on the gas powered car has substantially increased since it’s invention and production back in 1908 by the Ford Motor Company. As of 2014, it was estimated that there were over 88 million cars produced world-wide and growing every day. (Fig. 1) Even though a lot of these vehicles might be the new Hybrid edition, the majority of them have a dependency on oil and gasoline products for their survival and existence. Petroleum products, such as oil and gasoline do not come cheap or even free to the consumer, even the

Total destruction of the United States’ economy, this statement may sound outright ridiculous, but could be the outcome of the future. Oil has become the main resource consumed by the world, primarily used for generating electricity, household use and transportation. Due to oil being a non-renewable resource, inefficiency and over dependency will eventually drain the world of the fuel. Electric motors may lead the way in developing alternate energy for transportation combined with newer developments. With today’s fluctuating oil prices America’s current mode of transportation will meet its end; clean electric power would serve as a way to preserve America’s future.
Many other people continued the development and improvement of electric automobiles and for a time electric automobiles were the preferred type of Automobile because of their quiet ride, quick start-up, and lack of pollution. In fact electric automobiles held the land speed record well into the early 1900’s. However, they began to decline in the early 1900’s because of the increased prevalence and efficiency of the internal combustion engine.
In his memoir A Moveable Feast, Ernest Hemingway emerged as a zealous writer. According to Jonathan Yardley, author of the review “Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast Still Satisfies”, Hemingway’s writing style developed from “self-discipline and self-denial” described in the novel. Although the writer often appears as an unlikeable person, there can be no doubt to “the seriousness of Hemingway's purpose or… dedication” (¶8). He struggled to improve his technique; he “always worked until [he] had something done,” writing every day to sharpen his skills (7). Hemingway was committed solely to writing: Eating, reading, and even having sex with his wife were only something “necessary” to him after he “had written” (12). Moreover, when he was working,
in the morning without you, the house owner, being awoke.” (Background to our EV Project) This was a justifiable cause for people to create the electric vehicle in the first place but it does not tell why the electric car has had a resurrection.
In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric carriage. Also in 1835 Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland built another small electric car with his assistant Christopher Becker. There was another inventor named Thomas
Technology has been advancing since the turn of the century at an unparalleled pace with the constant announcement of new gadgets and innovations. Of the thousands of new technological advancements made in the past decade, the introduction of the electric car has been the most widely discussed topic. Electric cars are one hundred percent emission free and can replace the fire spitting, bone chilling sounds of a thunderous gasoline engine with the eloquent silence of luxury and speed. However, as with all things technological, electric vehicles have their problems. Electric cars have several benefits and could possibly replace gas cars in the future, but they are not refined enough to take over the world today because of a few technicalities
