Imagine that your life is changed within a few seconds, and you don't know it yet. This is what happens to Elie Wiesel in the book Night. In the book Between Shades of Gray, Ruta Sepetys writes about Lina and her family that goes through a similar situation as Elie Wiesel. Though they were both put through terrible conditions, Lina and Elie survived the traumatic, sad, and harsh conditions.

The beloved objects we had carried with us from place to place were now left behind in the wagon and, with them, finally, our illusions. The author and main character of the book Night Elie Wiesel uses these words to describe the feeling of arriving at Auschwitz. Throughout the book, Elie describes what life was like in the Holocaust and how it changed him. Because of this Elie is a dynamic character because he questions his faith, he begins to change his attitude towards his father, and he loses his innocence.

Throughout the book it’s easy to see that Elie is slowly changing as a person as the holocaust progresses. At the beginning of the book Elie was just an innocent boy who went to school and had a regular schedule just like any other child. Until one day he fell into the hands of fate and everything changed. Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi army hated the Jewish race with a passion and was attempting to wipe them all out and create the “perfect race” of Germans and blonde haired blue eyed North Western Europeans, also called Aryans.

Throughout history, many terrible things have happened that have put people in terrible conditions. During the Holocaust, millions of people died, and the few that survived were very lucky. Elie Wiesel, the author of “Night”, endured many horrible things in the Holocaust that shaped him as a person today. In “Night”, by Elie Wiesel, the main character, Elie, changed as a person due to his experiences at Auschwitz.

Throughout a lifetime, people undergo many different identities to discover their true self. Elie Wiesel, the author of the memoir Night, suffered a major event that changed his identity forever. This event shaped his life and brought Elie to endure different perspectives in his time in the camps. Eliezer’s identity changed throughout the memoir from faithful, to fearful, to hopeless.

This is a book that everyone will enjoy, if the person does not like to read this book will catch their attention as it did to the person writing the sentence. The book takes place in World War II in the holocaust. Night is about a kid named Elie Wiesel a Jewish boy that is sent to a concentration camp with his father with very little rations of food and treated like animals the have to survive the horrible beatings the Hungarian army give them for misbehaving.

Night begins with the narrator, Elie, talking about Moishe the Beadle, who is described as the “jack-of-all-trades” in a shtibl (Weisel, 21). He then continues by talking about his family. He goes back to talk about his deep conversations with Moishe and their evenings spent together. One day, the foreign Jews of Sighet, where he lives, were expelled. This included Moishe. They were taken away in cattle cars by the Hungarian police. Months past and one day, Elie saw Moishe sitting on a bench near the synagogue. He tells Elie about what happened to him; how he and the other Jews were transported and forced to dig their own graves in the forest. Luckily, Moishe had managed to escape. He had come back to warn the Jews in Sighet of what to come.

Is changing your personality a good or bad thing? Many people gained new traits and evolved due to concentration camps. They did this to survive. One of the people that had to change their personality to survive was Elie Wiesel. In “Night” by Elie wiesel, the main character, Elie, changed as a person due to his experiences at Auschwitz.

Furthermore, the title of a book can reference what happens during the book. Elie Wiesel chose the title Night to show how this was a dark time in his life. On page 37, Elie says, “The student of Talmud. . . had been consumed by flames. All that was left was a shape that resembled me.” (Wiesel) The title Night is referring to the dark time in Elie’s life. If this book was titled Day or Dawn, some of the things that occur in this book wouldn’t be seen be seen by the reader as violent. This quote is when Elie is in Auschwitz during the first night. When he arrived, a part of himself was gone. This was when he started losing his faith. The title of a book can change how things are viewed by the reader. An author may choose the book because of something the characters do or something that happens to the characters. In Elie’s case, it was because of what happened to him in the concentration camps.

Setting (time and place): Early 1940s, during World War Two, Holocaust era. starting in Sighet, Transylvania, and moving throughout concentration camps in Europe.

An important nonfiction book that I think everyone should read is Night by Elie Wiesel. This book was published in 1960 by Hill and Wang. It has 116 pages and it is told by a man who survived the Holocaust. This was a very important moment in history that everyone needs knowledge on.

There are many vices that are taken up exclusively by Humans. Other animals don’t think about wiping out entire races or species just for kicks, most species don’t have the urge to attempt genocide or even turning on their own kin, but humans do. Elie Wiesel was a holocaust survivor whose ghastly year at the Auschwitz death camp was shared with the world by way of his book, “Night.”
