Apathetic Characters In Animal Farm

Gwen is the main character in the story Empty. In the novel, Gwen was an apathetic character. This was shown many ways throughout the novel. One of the ways it was shown was Gwen communicated towards others throughout the novel. Gwen tends to keep to herself and would rather observe social interactions rather than be apart of them. As the story progressed Gwen became a less apathetic character and started to open up more to her friends and the people close to her. Gwen is very antisocial and likes to keep to herself. These characteristics are similar to Benjamin the donkey from George Orwell's Animal Farm. Benjamin is very antisocial animal and usually keeps to himself only saying a few repeated words when he does speak. Although like Gwen, Benjamin doesn't speak much. In the novel, George Orwell illustrates what happens when those in power become so power hungry that they no longer advocate for the society they are meant to lead but rather for themselves. The parallels in Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution are evident from the start when Farmer Jones is chased out of the farm just like Czar Nicholas II is overthrown from power. Those involved in the coup believe that what they are doing is the right thing and it will better the lives of everyone, therefore, they conspire to overthrow their leader.
