According to the American Psychological Association, “Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior in which someone intentionally and repeatedly causes another person injury or discomfort. Bullying can take the form of physical contact, words or more subtle actions” (Bullying, 2013). People bully each other for several reasons and there are different outcomes that are a result of those reasons. People can be bullied physically, emotionally, or verbally. Bullying can take place at school or online. Bullying should be a considered a crime, but kids get away with it all the time; furthermore prevention can be used in order to keep kids safe from bullying.

Starting at very young ages there are bullies. They develop early and often never grow out of that stage, but rather it just increases with time and age so the crimes become more serious. This is why it is necessary to target children with their unkind or violent tendencies before it gets out of control. Children usually turn into bullies for reasons such as craving attention, wanting power, low self-esteem, inability to control anger, revenge, or even to be popular. Popularity comes to bullies in grade school because students who like and are liked by the bully will most likely not be bothered, so it becomes a safety issue. Bullying is disguised in various shapes, sizes, and styles in schools from the west to east coast and everything inbetween. It is a difficult issue for schools to take action against and even harder for students that are the victims. Bullying can vary from nonviolent to violent but they are both equally as cruel. Bullies tend to pick victims they might not even know, or tend to pick on weaker individuals, perhaps individuals they know would not fight back. Kids that tend to look weaker or have a smaller friend circle are targets for bullies that have more friends due to the power imbalance.

Bullying is a situation where one person abuses power over another. Bullying is about power, control and abuse. Bully’s come in all shapes, sizes and forms. Bullying occurs throughout a human’s life span. The most-critical development stage of one’s personality is adolescence. Bullying during adolescence has been a major issue in every community. Bullying can happen in three known forms; direct, indirect, and cyber. Both gender and sexual orientation are associated with all forms of bullying. Bullying affects self-esteem and family cohesion.

Those who are bullied often become bullies. “According to a 2007 study of bullying in Japan, South Africa and the United States, 72 percent of children who were physically abused by their parents become a bully, a victim of a bully or both” (Swearer). In some cases parents could cause kids to be bullies, victims, or both without noticing that they are doing so. Bullying is “aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance” (“Bullying Definition”). Bullying could be found in multiple places, but most likely it can be found in school. Bullying, a monster in the society, has many negative effects including mental health, substance use, and suicide.

Whenever I am given an assignment about bullying I get frustrated; it is not because it pains me to discuss an experience, but more so that I have never been able to classify myself as one of the three broad roles that play a role in creating a bullying scenario.  Throughout my school years I have been informed countless times about the three roles of bullying; we consider the bully the doer of the abuse, the bystander the observer of the abuse and of course the victim is known as the receiver of physical or verbal abuse.  Based on these umbrella terms I could fully consider myself a victim, but that is absolutely not how I would like to be known.  Calling myself a victim makes me seem so pitiful and weak, whereas I like to consider myself

With school-aged children, bullying more frequently happens while they are at school, or afterward when the students are not being supervised by their teacher in places like the cafeteria, bus, lockers, playground or neighborhood. Now that kids have access to online technology, bullying can also happen on the internet. With this in mind, teachers must now research and understand what bullying is, and develop methods to help fight against bullying. Bullying is the aggressive, unwanted behavior that occurs between kids of all ages. Children that bully are using the power they believe they have over other kids to try to control and harm them. Bullying can happen via verbal, social, or physical abuses, such as name-calling, threats, spreading rumors, isolation, embarrassment, spitting, hitting, destroying personal things, etc. In order to be considered bullying, these bad behaviors are repeated over time.

As more and more children go to school, the rates of bullying go up as time goes by. there are many times at which students suffer all the bullying that occurs within their lives. As more schools become aware of the magnitude of the bullying occurring right under their noses, there are rules created to aid the victim. There are various types of bullying and these are created to do one thing, instill superiority among the “stronger” and place a feeling of inferiority. Bullies are the ones who are detrimental to a child’s development.

Bullies are very bad people that hurt others. A bully could be anybody, It does not matter how big or small they are. A four year old kid could be a bully for all we know. Bullies bully other people in many different ways. Some are name-calling, tripping someone, laughing at someone, leaving someone out, and ignoring them on purpose. Many kids all around the world are abused by their parents, peers or even by complete strangers. One of these types of abuse is bullying. At a first glance, we might think that it is an older kid beating/teasing a younger classmate however; bullying consists of much more than this. The basic definition of bullying is when your behavior hurts or harms another person physically or emotionally. There are many different types of bullying, which may lead to a victim becoming violent later on. There is teasing and name calling, there is also picking and shoving the kid. However, the most extreme one would be beating up the child, hurting them physically and mainly, emotionally.

The National Education Association reports that 160,000 children are absent intentionally from school each day because they fear being bullied whether it is an attack or just intimidation by other students. Bullying goes on every day in our society. Usually the kid that’s the bully is either having problems at school or at their home. At school they could be having problems on focusing in class or they feel like they’re not smart like the other kids. At home the kid could be have parent problems might have a mom and dad that are Drug, Acholic parents. Parents that are verbally abusive that beat on that child every day.

Bullying has a variety of leading causes. A major cause of bullying is social issues. Children have begun to realize that by acting out they will receive attention (Why do People Bully?). They do not realize this is a negative form of attention. A child that receives very little attention in social situations is likely to bully to obtain the attention he/she desires. Children could also not have the proper skills to act well behaved in public, leading them to bully (Why do People Bully?). A child not having the properly developed skills to work in public would make him/her feel out of place causing him/her to act out. The occurrence of bullying is also due to family issues. When a child is dealing with issues at home with things such as finances, abuse, or attention loss it can cause him/her to bully. A child receiving improper or no discipline is more likely to bully because he/she will believe there is nothing wrong with what he/she is doing. If a child is
