In 1800, the Federalists and Democratic-Republican parties run for the president with John Adams and Thomas Jefferson as their candidates respectively. The federalists spread a campaign aimed at discrediting the Democratic-Republican who supported the French Revolution. The Federalist hoped that the ideology would woo Americans who wanted a stable government. On the other hand, Democratic-Republican accused Federalists of supporting Britain and creating monarchy-like social and economic systems in America. The Democrats-Republicans worn the elections.

1. Explain the ways that participation in political campaigns and elections in the United States changed between 1815 and 1840, and analyze forces and events that led to these changes.
There were some people who didn't agree with everything that the Federalist Party believed. This new party was known as the Democratic Republicans. This party was made up of farmers, small businessmen, and laborers. The Democratic Republicans weren't backed by as much money, and were considerably poorer than the Federalists. The south and west parts of the United States were most influenced by the Democratic Republicans because that is were the majority of the farming population was
“My people are few. They resemble the scattering trees of a storm-swept plain...There was a time when our people covered the land as the waves of a wind-ruffled sea cover its shell-paved floor, but that time long since passed away with the greatness of tribes that are now but a mournful memory.” (Chief Seattle, Chief Seattle’s Speech). Lethal Encounters Englishmen and Indians in Colonial Virginia by Alfred Cave is a book that extensively describe Britain’s and Spain’s initial colonization of America. The book mainly focuses on the facts and primary entries of Native Americans and pioneers, and their initial thoughts thoughts about each other. In the early 19th century the two dominant political parties, the Jeffersonian Republicans and the Federalists, had many opposing beliefs. With respect to the federal constitution, the Jeffersonian Republicans were viewed as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad and lenient constructionism of the Federalists. The Jeffersonian Republicans were supported by commoners and the middle class. In general, they favored limiting the power of the national government, they believed that farming should serve as the backbone of the economy based on agriculture, and they supported the cause of the French Revolution. Contrary to such beliefs were those of the Federalists who were supported by the wealthy and aristocrats. Federalists, who
David Price's reason for writing Love and Hate in Jamestown is to demystify the historical legends of John Smith and Pocahontas, and portray both as the reason why the Jamestown colony survived in the New World. Price supports this thesis by describing the people that inhabited the New World with the settlers at Jamestown, describing the leadership skills Smith possessed, and describing his method for saving the colony from disaster. Price wants to portray Smith and Pocahontas in the correct light, and correct the common misconception that the two were romantically involved. Price expresses this through an excellent narrative telling the story of the ship's voyage across the Atlantic, the settlement of the colony, and the interactions
Political parties today started to form in the late 1600’s. In 1787, Hamilton and other leaders joined and called themselves the Federalist. The Federalist party is the party which is most qualified for the presidency because the Federalist want a central government, want to avoid foreign affairs, and also want a central banking system. First a strong central governments.

By 1817 the great American experiment was in full swing. America was developing into an effective democratic nation. However as the democracy continued to grow, two opposing political parties developed, the Jeffersonian Republicans and the Federalists. The Jeffersonian Republicans believed in strong state governments, a weak central government, and a strict interpretation of the Constitution. The Federalists saw it differently. They opted for a powerful central government with weaker state governments, and a loose interpretation of the Constitution. The seemingly solid divide between Federalist and Republican would begin to blur during the presidencies of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. For, neither Republican president was able lead
Significance: Smith is reminiscing of the event when was battling savages at the river, while his men slept, maintaining a source of replenishment. He used another savage to defend himself, but was still shot as he struggled to fight free. He was inevitably overpowered and taken prisoner by the natives.
When the first colonists landed in the territories of the new world, they encountered a people and a culture that no European before them had ever seen. As the first of the settlers attempted to survive in a truly foreign part of the world, their written accounts would soon become popular with those curious of this “new” world, and those who already lived and survived in this seemingly inhospitable environment, Native American Indian. Through these personal accounts, the Native Indian soon became cemented in the American narrative, playing an important role in much of the literature of the era. As one would expect though, the representation of the Native Americans and their relationship with European Americans varies in the written works of the people of the time, with the defining difference in these works being the motives behind the writing. These differences and similarities can be seen in two similar works from two rather different authors, John Smith, and Mary Rowlandson.
There were easily multiple causes for the start of the Great Depression in 1929. Many historians and economists put emphasis on organizational causes such as actions by the Federal Reserve. Often part of any business cycle are recessions due to the changes of supply and demand, but what turns this business cycle into a depression is always up for debate. In the case of the Great Depression, the stock market crash of 1929, bank failures, debt deflation, and American economic policies with Europe
Federalist party was established in the 1790s as a vision of individuals who were in favor of government, with diplomatic ties with Britain. Basically federalist applied to a person who formally agree with the federal constitution. Federalist party was situated with President George Washington. Although Washington supported most of the federalist policies, however he was against with partisan activity. Federalist party was connected with policies of the Secretary of the Treasury Hamilton. His vision was to make strong central bank and motivate rich investors who develop commerce and manufactures. Federalist believe that by following Hamilton vision it can inspire and give confidence to people of wealth, and make strong national economy. Federalist also was in favored to make trade and investment with Britain because during that time Britain was the only nation wants to promote commerce with United States.
The Great Depression first started as early as 1928, but did not affect the United States until 1929. The Great Stock Market crash started the event of the Depression here in America, but was not the main cause to why it happened. During the early stages of the depression, President Hoover failed to help the economy and continued with his belief system of giving people the least help they needed, so they can earn themselves a rightful spot with pride, not with government’s help. The Great Depression was a very intense experience for us, even until today, the
Amidst the early 1600s, European settlers travelled across the Atlantic ocean to North America for religious freedom, economic opportunity, and political freedom. Seeking the New World for a new life, many colonists had plenty of experiences with Native Americans already occupying the land. Several unexpected repercussions to Native Americans and their culture erupted as a result of colonization. As a result, many literary authors would comment on the effects of colonization via literature. There was the typical perception of indigenous people as barbarous, and then there was the more progressive, understanding perception of indigenous people. In John Smith’s The General History of Virginia and in William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, both authors’
In the United States Presidential election of 1800, sometimes referred to as the "Revolution of 1800, Democratic- Republicans tried to paint Federalist candidate John Adams as a monarchist.
