Introduction
Have you ever wondered what God is really like? Maybe you see Him as a Santa Clause doppelganger? What about His character? What makes Him happy, or sad? What would He do if He was really mad at humankind in general? Would He lose it, step down from heaven and with one giant foot wipe us all of the face of the planet? Perhaps like squishing grapes.
I find these verses incredibly enlightening, because they show in such clarity the true character and nature of our Father, and the extent of His love and patience towards all of us.
Looking at these verses in context, we see that the Lord has given Isaiah a detailed account of the sin of Judah . We can hear the Father’s grief in vs 2 as He laments “I have nourished and brought up children, And they have rebelled against Me;” (A common problem for many parents)
What caused Yahweh to become so distressed with His children? They were, after all, still practicing all the ritual sacrifices that were required by covenant. It was the hypocrisy of their lives and their heart attitudes that was the problem. (vs 2-14) Specifically, the people were worshiping God in the Temple, and then sneaking out at night to worship pagan gods. The women neglected their families to go out and sleep around. The priests and prophets had become drunks, and were more interested in pleasing their peers than in pleasing God. On top of all this, the wealthy people were murderers, and were oppressing the poor. (vs4, 15, 21) Yahweh was so
The view of Santa has immensely changed over the past many centuries. Because of this the history and traditions are so rich and interesting. What begins as a servant-hearted man turned into an overly-publicized figure in today’s society. Santa Clause started off as St. Nicholas. He was a monk born in late 200 A.D., known for his generous giving and love for helping children.
While books like Amos depicts the Day of Yahweh primarily as a time of harsh judgement, there was also blessing involved. Though a large majority of the Israelite and Judean people were slain, there was a remnant which consisted of “only those who [sought] Him and Him alone as their Savior and who wisely persevere in doing good.” This remnant would go into exile, and eventually return to a purified nation that sought only Yahweh as their God. This remnant would experience the renewal of covenant.

Santa, he is who I believe in. Not literally but the disillusion attached to him. He is a mythical being who little kids believe in because their parents haven’t told them not to, rather they encouraged it. Then again, why wouldn’t you want to? He brings you your biggest toy obsession of the year, works with elves, and has flying reindeer. Seems pretty magical right? So why does it all seems so silly now? When you look back , can you remember how devastated you were at the age of 7 or 8 when you found out that the man who you put out cookies and milk for, and who you wrote Dear Santa letters to wasn’t real? At the time it was the biggest catastrophe of your little life. As you get older, you realize that other aspects of the world and it’s
Second Isaiah is enclosed within the Book of Isaiah as one of the compositions during the exile. Consequently, it is comprehended as one the first of the Latter Prophets in the Hebrew Bible and the first of the Major Prophets in the Christian Old Testament. Furthermore, the writings predominantly consist of an anonymous prophet who more than likely lived with the Hebrew exiles during the period of Babylonian captivity. In order to obtain a permissible amount of understanding of the superscription Second Isaiah, it is imperative to understand the historical background and context.. Ergo, with this knowledge we can best fathom and appreciate the meaning, emotions, and perspective of the target audience and the major themes of this collection of writings. The second Book of Isaiah has major themes of restoration & prophecies of a return, social justice. and the advent of the concept of monotheism. Additionally, it encompases and functions as guidance for the exiles as they face harsh living conditions and a lack of hope. Lastly, it is also significant to discuss the correspondence of Second Isaiah with Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament.
In regards to Isaiah 1:1-19 it is about Israel’s condition and God’s solution to it. The judgment from God had come upon the people of Judah because they had sinned against Him. His judgment would cleanse and perfect them because God had a future for them. The prophetic books of the Old Testament for the most part are a compilation of oracles, which God used to communicate His message to the world. These oracles announced judgment, appealed for
This passage presents a discussion about arguments concerning the existence of Santa Claus. This is an important debate for children everywhere because of the Christmas spirit that Santa Claus instills in them. The two positions argue whether or not Santa Claus exists or not. Both viewpoints have valid claims warranting consideration. For example, evidence indicates that Santa Claus is only imaginary. In contrast, opposing evidence suggests that he is real. While both sides of the issue have valid points, the claim that Santa Claus exists is the stronger supported, the position supported by a preponderance of the evidence cited in the passages. The most convincing and forceful reasons in support of this position are that he lives in a unseeable world, he is what brings joy to Christmas, and those who do not believe in him are only skeptics. Accordingly, these reasons and opposing viewpoints will be discussed next.
A word commonly used throughout the book of Isaiah about the poor is “judgement”. In the verse quoted above, Israel is chastened for judging not the fatherless. It is important to understand that judging in the Bible is
Indeed, He had called them out as His Chosen People. All of this was part of the Israelites cherished history. But you can’t live in the past. History has its place, but it must be kept in its place. The Israelites were challenged not to think that their greatest victories with the Lord were behind them. Isaiah’s prophecy charged them to forget the past…its comfortable familiarities, and even its shortcomings and disappointments. It was true that the Lord had brought them through the Red Sea, but He was also prepared to take them through the wilderness. Isaiah commanded the Israelites to look ahead, and he prophesied that God was going to do a new thing!
A majority of the phrases I speak end in question marks. This is not because I’m slow or because I do not pay attention, in fact I happen to be the opposite: deliberate, fastidious, curious are just some ways my family has described me. I have never been one for taking things at face value. When I would ask my mom questions such as “Is Santa real?” Of course, she returns with the claim that he certainly was real because how else would the presents appear under the tree? Not satisfied with this answer I decided to take Santa’s validity into my own hands. I needed to experience his presence first hand. I learned two things in the course of that evening. One was that Santa, of course, was a fraud; the other being that I can never accept what someone says as gospel. Various people can have a variety of motives for telling a person something, whether they are expounding their beliefs, arguing a point for their own self gain, or trying to instill in their child’s mind a little magic, every person has a motive behind what they say.
In 2005, ten-year-old Belle Adams had her dreams crushed after learning the truth about Santa Claus. Her mother, Nicki Adams, admitted to lying about Santa Claus being real. Belle never felt so betrayed. She reacts by writing an offensive note and sliding the note under her mother’s door. The note read, “You have no idea what you just did. I really tried to believe. Everyone told me it’s your parents. I can’t believe you anymore. Is the Easter bunny real, how about the tooth fairy, huh? You just ruined a 10-year-old child’s Life! Thanks! Nothing will make me feel better because you lied to me about something I Loved that Broke my Heart!” As we all know, Santa Claus is the one of the most famous mythologies of all time. Every Christmas Eve,
The leaders of Israel were struggling to maintain power due to its neighbors. The prophet Isaiah guided Hezekiah by preaching that he should place his trust in God and not Assyrian alliance. However, King Hezekiah was not consistent with his trust in God, which later resulted in the fall of reign. The book of Isaiah can be broken down into three sections. Chapters 1 to 39 represent the call of judgement for the city of Jerusalem. Chapters 40 to 55 represent the prophet Isaiah in exile, and chapters 56 to 66 represent the return from exile to a new Jerusalem. Each section highlights a part of Isaiah’s
I think you should go to Chena Lakes, Santa Claus House, and the Alaska State Fair because there are lots of cool stuff at Chena Lakes and Santa Claus’s House and even the Fair. Even in the summertime!:) They are all AWESOME!:)
The second verses are Matthew 17:1-9. To me this is saying how important it is to not be afraid and show our love. The more that we show our love and listen to God the more good things we will get out of it. This applies to my life because when I am upset or frustrated I sometimes just sit down and relax for a moment. I take time to realize all that I am thankful for and realize that whatever is happening to me at the time is happening for a reason. This is the main way that I believe God speaks to me, he tells me to take a break from all my stress and realize all the good things that
I was in the living room hanging up my stocking singing Christmas songs at my house. When I hung my stocking up by the fire place I started to think about Santa. I was wondering if Santa was really real like everyone said he was. I was sitting there just thing about it like I have actually seen the guy in real life so how do I know if he is real or not. I was in suspense for finding out. I mean I always thought was real but now i am having second guesses about it. Santa Always brought me Gifts and candy, but I just really know down deep in my heart is Santa really real or not. My Little Voice told me to put on these little pretty, tiny, red and green shoes on and take this light, and I will find out.
