1) What is your view on your singing voice as a model for children?
a) Personally, I love getting to sing in the classroom and I am always quick to utilize a vocal model, regardless of the ensemble. Sometimes the best way to communicate what you want from a young ensemble is to just do it yourself. Rather than spending minutes rambling on about dynamics or articulation, why not just show them how it works in a few seconds?
2) Do you have any areas of confidence or concerns about working with children as they develop their voices?
a) As a baritone, I’m not very confident that my vocal models would be the most beneficial for young children, especially ones that are only just beginning to figure out how to sing. A model in my usual singing
The results for Mathew, Mark and Luke, propose that when the visual cues were shown during sessions to all three boys, a decrease in the vocal stereotypy was displayed in all sessions; therefore, a functional relationship between the dependent and independent variables can be replicated throughout all phases of the study. Based on previous studies, when visual cues have also been used in controlling the vocal stereotypy, the results from those studies have retained constant and similar success
As I unlocked my jaw from my mouth, nothing came out. The director and the instructor stared at me with open jaws. They weren’t able to take me in because I had lost my voice. I was the quiet 14-year-old, who lost the ability to sing falsetto anymore. My only strength was my baritone voice, but the choir, at the time, did not start a boy choir in their choir yet. I auditioned yet again, but the same result happened; however, this time, they had troubadours for me to start my life in choir: The choir that is called the South Bay Children’s Choir (SBCC)
I grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana, surrounded by a large, loving family. My family gathers together each week to attend church and share a meal. I love to sing and grew up singing at my local church. Singing has allowed me many great opportunities to pursue something I love and impact people in new and different ways. Furthermore, singing highlights my ambition and exhibits my attention to detail, problem solving skills and the ability to continue to adapt to learning in new ways. Having never learned to read music or received any formal musical training, I am able to predict the flow of a song I have never heard and create harmony. Relying on the gift of a “good ear,” coupled with determination, I am able to learn a song quickly after hearing it only a few
However, with children and young people it is important to remember your relationship to them as a professional care giver. For children and young people an essential part of communication is praise and encouragement, and this helps to build self-esteem and confidence. There are four methods that can be used –
I’ve done several plays including “Beverly Hillbillies”, “Get Smart”, “My Man Godfrey”, and “May The Farce Be With You”. I’ve also done a few musicals including “Urinetown”, “AIDA”, and “Shrek”. I’ve also worked behind the scenes as the Dramaturg and set crew whilst helping out with some middle school productions. I’ve been in choir for 4 years lead by my inspiration and hero, Tim VanEperen. When I first joined, I had major confidence issues with my singing, but he worked very hard with me to get over them. I’ve sung Alto 1 & 2 and currently Soprano 2. I hope to continue doing what I love in the community. I participated in Forensics for two years doing Solo-Acting Serious, Solo-Acting Humorous, and Play Acting. I’m also very passionate about the environment which is why I’m in Earth Club! We are a bunch of tree huggers who strive to teach the importance of recycling and doing everything we can to conserve energy, water, and help stop
I never sang too loud so if I messed up, no one would hear it .After every class I would go up to my Choir or band director with about five questions. But it simply was not enough. So my sophomore year I was given vocal lessons that taught me that I can match pitch consistently , and that my range was bigger than I ever thought it could be. I discovered a talent that I loved and I intended to perfect it .I performed in multiple cabarets and had the opportunity to sing with my choir at the Carnegie music hall. I was finally getting the swing of music; but that was not enough due to my obstinacy. I wanted to learn
Children need to be given the chance to speak even if they go round in circles when they are trying to tell you something, I need to have patience and let them speak and not try to rush them. I also need to speak to them in accordance with their ability always remembering to give them my full attention looking at them while they are speaking so that they know I am listening and interested in what they have to say. It is important to make the children feel valued and you really are interested I them.
After moving to New York City to pursue an acting career, I continued to work on my singing voice through professional voice lessons. As I learned more about my own voice, I became very interested in the science behind singing and speaking. This led to an independent inquiry for knowledge that quickly took me beyond the scope of singing pedagogy, and I began to rely on vocal anatomy and speech pathology text
was lucky enough to have a childhood that was fairly even-keeled – I celebrated almost as much as I grieved, and laughed as much as I cried. Even though I entered into the adult world with a balanced upbringing, I still couldn’t help but to feel that I did not develop a voice properly due to one significant event.
As an eight year old student, I entered the annual science fair at school. The subject I chose to observe and research for my project was the human vocal chords. Collectively, my mom, a speech pathologist, and I sat down and watched videos that she had of her own vocal chords being activated and used for communication through speech and language. I was intrigued by the way that they worked and the way they were used to enable communication. My mom taught me about her work as a speech pathologist and how she had studied the vocal chords specifically to help her with the ability to train others who had speech and language impairments and communication disabilities. It was through my research and careful observation of the way that the vocal
In the story “Hills Like White Elephants” the author is telling the story from a detached voice. It is implying without saying that the story revolves around her having an abortion. The man is trying to convince her to have the operation done. At one point in the story, she gives into having the procedure done. Then later changes her mind and decides that she is not going to have the operation. He uses the thought of happiness as a weapon to try and manipulate her ino having the operation done.
In life, people will always make wrong decisions and these wrong decisions lead to destructive consequences. Macbeth does this in the play “Macbeth”. A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a judgment error that leads to his/her own destruction. Fate and external forces bring on the tragedy in a tragic hero’s life. And in William Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth”, Macbeth goes through situations in his life that portray him as a tragic hero: his ambition, the witches prophecy, and Lady Macbeth show the development of Macbeth as a tragic hero.
Personally, I was a very timid kid in middle school, but I did enjoy singing when I was alone. Throughout middle school and high school, I have slowly realized how much improvement
There are many aspects to be considered in regards to accounting regulations such as economic, social, and political factors. These factors prohibit the issue regarding regulations form being clear cut or easy to decipher. The economic, social, and professional perspectives in which the issue can be viewed from often have significantly different vantage points and often represent competing interests. However, without regulation it is difficult to maintain a healthy economy and provide individuals a fair chance at achieving their own financial objectives. Therefore, while not all regulations effectively serve their stated purposes, the goal for regulators and legislators should be to improve the effectiveness of regulations and not to try to do away with them completely. In the last decade there have been many examples of how deregulation has worked to destabilize the global economy.
As I lift my head up and open my mouth, my voice escalates with every tune that comes out. The soothing words bounce off of my tongue and release the tension held within. Even if the sounds aren’t perfect or correct, every little bit helps me get through the day. When stressed, nothing helps me more than singing. My passion for singing comes from deep within my soul, mind and heart. When I sing, I sing with all of me, putting everything I can into it. I have always had a great passion for singing, ever since I was young. Although I am shy and still get nervous and shaky in front of others, in my own time, singing is my cigarette, my alcoholic drink, my escape from all the anger and the pain.
