There are many different opinions as to what is true when it comes to religion. All over the globe, many diverse cultures look up and pray to a variety of gods or perhaps none whatsoever. Yet, how does one define what is existent? What is truly divine and worthy of the utmost worship and praise? As humans, we are limited to fully comprehending and understanding exactly who God is and what the afterlife looks like. This paper will discuss the aspects of the Christian faith viewing God, humanity, Jesus, Restoration and the Christian Worldview, as well as, a reflection of what I believe in my own personal life. The Christian faith is centered around God almighty, a holy godhead. “The doctrine of the Trinity affirms that the only true God eternally exists as three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one in essence, united in glory, and distinct in relations” (Horrell, 2014, para.1). God represents the Father, Jesus represents the Son, which was God in the flesh and the Holy Spirit, which is given to those that believe in him. “We are invited to know this God through Christ and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds through the Word and by the Spirit” (Horrell, 2014, para.5). There are many profound characteristics of God; He is the great I Am, holy, just, faithful, good, merciful, gracious and the source of all blessings. He is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, sovereign, immutable, wrathful and wise. His strength and power is unlike anything else. He existed
When you look around and gaze at the beautiful creation before you, do you reflect on how amazing God is? God made the creation, man, and everything surrounding the two. There are many different worldviews. This paper will focus on the Christian worldview. The Christian worldview involves God, humanity, Jesus, and restoration.
Christianity is a Theism worldview that focuses on the belief in one personal and relational God that created all that exists (Hiles, & Smith, 2015). God created man in his likeness to care for all that has been created, to know and worship God, and to love and obey God (Diffey, 2015). Man is to rule and have dominion over the earth, be fruitful and multiply, filling the earth (Genesis 1:28). Christians rely on the support of the Holy Bible to guide them in the word of God. The Bible consist of four basic acts, the Creation, the Fall of Humanity, Redemption, and Restoration (Diffey, 2015). Christians believe that God sent his only Son to die on the cross for their salvation. In this paper will be a focus on the Christian worldview discussing God, humanity, Jesus,
Christianity is one of the largest religion in the world with over 2 million followers at the beginning of the 21st century. Christianity is a diverse religion, with many variation in belief among denomination. (Johnson & Judy, 2015). As human beings we all have different worldviews, and we all deserve respect among everything no matter our religion and beliefs. In this paper I will be going through the essential components of the Christian worldview that are made up with God, Humanity, Jesus and restoration. I this paper I will point out important facts according to the Christian Religion and my points of view but with giving respect to the other religions and other people’s points to view.
Gospel Essentials In the gospel of John it says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16, New International Version). The Christian worldview is based on this bible verses because God loves everyone so much that he was willing to give his only Son, Jesus, that way the world could be saved from their sins and have eternal life in Heaven with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. This paper will go into detail about God, Humanity, Jesus, Restoration, Analysis, Reflection, and then a Conclusion that will help tie everything together about the Christian worldview and why these topics are important to Christians. God
A worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world. I base my worldview on the infallible Word of God. I believe the Bible to be entirely true, that it is the foundation of everything I say and do. I believe in a Christian worldview in which my primary reason for existence is to love and serve God. I stand firm on “The Apostles Creed” believing in God the Father, who is maker of the heaven and earth. I recognize that “in Him all things hold together” (Col. 1:17), for all true knowledge flows from Him. In this paper, I will explain my belief in Jesus Christ and my Christian worldview.
Christianity, on the other hand, maintains that there is one sovereign God who has a human likeness in that He has personality, is relational and reveals Himself to us. He is known as a triune God, three persons in one being. The God of the Christian bible is omniscient, omnipotent and transcendent.
As we look back on history we can see that human beings have made great strides as well as suffered many setbacks in our development of fundamental doctrines and/or beliefs by which we live and view the world. These foundational beliefs have provided the framework for which all civilizations preserve, cooperate, and govern their way of life. Certainly throughout history, the spread of Christian theology and doctrine has been influential in establishing and developing a deeply rooted theistic and biblical worldview foundation; thus being the center of much debate. In light of the various views within Christian theology, we will focus specifically on doctrine that is foundational to the Christian
Our worldview allows us to see into the world at such an angle that it coincides with our beliefs, therefore affecting how we think and live. Whether one falls under an atheistic, pantheistic, or theistic worldview, they are guided in their life choices depending on the beliefs of their worldview. Throughout this paper, I will summarize the elements of a Christian Worldview such as God, Humanity, Jesus, and Restoration; I will then analyze questions one might have about the Christian Worldview, and finally I will reflect on my worldview.
‘Mainstream Christianity teaches us that God exists in three forms, or persons: the Father, who created the world, the Son, Jesus who redeemed humankind and the Holy Spirit’. (John Wolffe 2014 p.75). When we look at Christianity this is the central core of belief; the Christian belief revolves around Jesus of Nazareth and the Christ who are both fully divine figures. To be a Christian is to believe in one God and recognize Jesus as the Son of God, ‘Jesus, the sinless Son of God, is the essential means of reconciliation between God and humankind’ (John Wolffe, 2014 p. 74).
In such a complex and chaotic world, possessing a worldview that is practical can be essential to well-being and satisfaction. Without a cohesive framework with which to process the world around us, life can become discouraging and meaningless. Among a plethora of worldviews, Christianity is distinctive and singularly addresses many questions that come to the forefront concerning our existence and the universe. Unfortunately, many “who see themselves to be Christian really don’t understand even the basics of the faith they profess” (Stackhouse, 2002, p.43). This paper provides a construct for the Christian worldview, produces evidence to support Christianity as a viable lifestyle, and outlines noteworthy practices to living out Christianity.
Christians believe the image of God to be three Gods merged into one. The Trinity’s components are the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit and they are all equal. Each form of God has the same attributes of all-powerful, all-knowing, always present,
A worldview is the way a person views and interprets the world around them. Life experiences and spiritual influences play a part in forming one’s worldview. A person’s worldview helps them to determine beliefs on creation, humanity, morals and what happens after death. According to Waddell, (2014) “Worldviews are also like lenses found in eyeglasses that serve as the means through which a person sees the world.” (para. 43) In this paper, the main components of the Christian worldview will be discussed, to include God, humanity, Jesus, restoration and analysis of Christian Faith as well as a reflection of my own beliefs.
The Christian understanding of God differs from other world religions' conceptions mainly because of their belief in the doctrine of the Trinity. Christians believe that God is the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit although "the doctrine of the Trinity is not explicitly spelled out in the Bible" (Created for Community pg. 16), the doctrine is the result of the experiences of the early Christians proving that the one God, the creator was the Father, Jesus was the Lord but he was not the Father but the Son, and the godly presence around them was The Holy Spirit. Although there is a trinity, Christians believe there is still one God, "one God [Christians worship] in trinity and trinity and unity neither confusing the persons nor dividing the
Unlike other religions the Christian God is very distinct because He is a part of the Trinity. The Trinity is defined as one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. According to author Michael Reeves, he explains in his book Delighting in The Trinity how each person plays a huge role in the Godhead and yet all three are one God and not three single persons. The most foundational part of God is not some abstract quality, but the fact that he is the Father. Again, and again, the scriptures equate the terms God and Father. For instance, Isaiah prays, “You are our Father…you, O Lord, are our Father”. The prophet Paul writes of “one God, the Father” (1 Corinthians 1:13). In order to be a Father there must be a son, right? The Bible explains how before time the Father loved His Son “you (the father) loved me (the son) before the creation of the world” (Colossians 1:17). How exactly does the Son and Father have this kind of relationship? The answer to this is the final part of the Trinity which is the Holy Spirit. The way the Father makes known his love is precisely through giving his Spirit to the son. In Romans 5:5, for instance, Paul writes on how God pours His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. “and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us”. It is, then, through giving him the Spirit that the Father declares his love for the son. Without the Spirit then it could not stir
A central doctrine to Christian belief would be that of the holy trinity. Though Christian doctrine recognizes the existence of only one true God, the doctrine of the trinity describes this God as being “three in one”, meaning that there are three entities to compose the singular God. God the Father (also referred to as God the Creator) is responsible for the creation of the universe and all its inhabitants, for sovereignty over His creation, and is the God entity with whom Christian believers have a relationship. Perhaps a more apt description of the character of God the Father could be found in Daniel 2:20-21, which reads, “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” (NIV) This is not an outright illustration of the Father’s character, but it does provide a thorough observance of His power and dominion, and touches on His relationship with creation, which is designed to glorify Him. Psalm 130:7, “O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption,” (NIV) expands on the loving and affirming character of man’s relationship with God the Father, the attributes that are chiefly definitive in determining the Father’s inclinations. God the Son, or Jesus Christ, is the commanding example of the Father’s affection for man. Though his deity is the literal right hand man of
