The single most important ingredient in team success is a clear, common, and compelling purpose. Too often, a team’s purpose is ill-defined, uninspiring, or foggy, leaving the team to figure out what success is supposed to look like. Teams are merely a means to an end — a method of achieving desired outcomes that are too big to reach through individual efforts; they are not the end itself. And it is team purpose that provides the reason for collaboration. A clear, compelling purpose gives reason for people to commit to a team. A common purpose not only calls the team together, it also holds the team together during the inevitable turbulence that will be experienced on the journey.

Reid Hastie, in his book “Wiser,” discusses many of the common points of how groups succeed and fail mainly due to group think. Throughout his years of research, he found a number of attributes that effective teams have in common. From his book, we have extracted ten important lessons that we believe are the most important for teams to learn and implement to be high performing. These findings also relate to the “5 Dysfunctions of a Team” that are outlined by Patrick Lencioni. Teachings taken from “Wiser” are symptoms, or indicators, of dysfunctions within a team, and many of his solutions help teams to overcome certain dysfunctions.
3.1 One way to ensure your personal and team gaols aligh with the organisations goals and plans is to have a team performance plan. The purpose of this is to ensure these goals are clearly linked to the organisations goals and objectives. Consulting, negotiating and agreeing the objectives in the team plan before the work is allocated supports achievements of expected out comes. An effective team performance plan links goal achievement by the team and individual team members to organisational goals and objectives. Rewards linked to team rather than individual performance, such as certificates of achievement and team of the year awards, promote high team performance.
In healthcare settings a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach is required to provide a safe and quality holistic care for patients. To achieve this, the different healthcare professionals must work together in order to achieve their goals and promote patient safety. This assignment aims to explore the importance of team work in healthcare. In addition it will consider the qualities and behaviours of a team leader as well as the team behaviours necessary for effective team performance.
To overcome these two challenges I had to sell the team on my vision while listening to their ideas. As a team leader, I can assert that achieving my goals is paramount. Yet this doesn’t denote that I would extensively pursue my goals or blindly follow my objectives at all costs. For that reason, I was open to their opinions no matter how different theirs may be from mine. I am proud to say that the outcome of this stage exceeded my expectations; the team was more motivated and evolved from being a group of strangers to a united team with common goals.
A successful team can be represented by various characteristics which include respect for one another, a sense of purpose, commitment to the aims of the team which are demonstrated every day by each team member and regular communication between team members.
Reflecting on experience is an important capability for an individual to be able to move forward. As (SOURCE) said, “(CONTEXT”). Moreover, individuals ought to be able to work not only individually, but also to work together in a group. Working with other people, especially whom you have not known is not as easy as it seems. In fact, it is quite difficult to develop an effective team. Through this reflection essay on the group presentation that I did last Monday, I have become more aware of useful strategies to deal with issues and understand what could be improved for future presentations. Developing teamwork skills is am important benefit for me as future professional workers.

In many aspects of our life, it is pervasive to work in a team. No matter in company, school, or another type of team it is necessary to be a part of a team and to achieve a team goal by corporations. People join a team with different personalities, goals, values, beliefs and needs. On the one hand, these differences can be a valuable quality of teams. On the other hand, these same differences inevitably lead to different levels of conflicts as well.
There is a saying that many hands make light work. The essence of this statement is that more can be achieved as a collective than individually. We all have different skills, knowledge and personal attributes. By utilizing all of these different aspects in a team, more ideas can be generated. As more ideas are generated, more creative solutions are generated, leading to better results. It is amazing the amount of support that is created in teams, especially when the going gets tough. People will often go to what seems like extreme lengths when they know that they can rely on the support and encouragement of the team. Never underestimate the significance of this in

Secondly, high performing teams understood where they were, where they are going and how they were going to get there and it was all linked to goals. Successful teams set achievable goals and create a road map on how to follow them with goals in between and beyond the company’s mission statement. In setting team goals they ensure to set individual goals that begin by defining the roles of each individual on the team. Successful managers clearly express expectations and ensure individual goals align with team goals which result in alignment with company goals (Abdallah & Ahluwalia, 2013). When teams met, meetings were highly organized and managers were able to seamlessly move from person to person and accurately gage where each members contributions stood in relation to team and corporate goals. Members were highly engaged and involved with each other, collaborating and assisting each other with completing tasks.
The basic foundations that makes a team succeed is the direction that focuses, energizes, orients, and engages all its team members in achieving a specific goal or purpose. How can teams be inspired if they don’t know what they’re working towards? Individuals have to care about achieving a goal, whether to gain extrinsic rewards, like recognition, pay, and promotions; or intrinsic rewards, such as satisfaction and a sense of meaning (Santanen, Briggs, & de Devreede, 2002). Creativity is a very important tool to have within a team. Without creativity the mission of succeeding can fall short due to poor problem solving abilities and skills.
