In 2014, the population of New Zealand was around 4.5 million, with approximately 4 million internet users (Central Intelligence Agency, n.d.). Even though with such a small population, it might be a challenge to get a large number of customers, it is also an opportunity for New Zealand to establish and develop online markets since it can reach most of the population. Therefore, the website creators are able to perfect the quality of their service and get ready to expand their business internationally.

· The development of technology also makes internet access easier and more convenient to people. More and more people have the internet connection on mobile phones. It was estimated that the number of mobile phones with internet access increased 7% in 2015, brought the number to 3,959,000. It also means there were 86 out of 100 mobile phones get connected to the internet (New Zealand Statistics, 2015).
· It was surveyed that around 74% online users had experienced a product or service research through online websites in 2014, of which 33% made those online purchases through mobile phone and 58% used tablets (SP eCommerce, 2015).

Online business using the internet has experienced significant growth over the last two decades. According to the Internet World Stats (2014) the number of worldwide internet users has grown from an estimated 16 million in 1995 to 2.9 billion in 2014. This world of interconnectivity has provided a way for people all around the globe to communicate with one another in a real time format. The internet has removed the distance between governments, industries, businesses and individuals. This interconnectivity has helped to establish the foundation for a globalized community.
Some businesses like Amazon and EBay have felt the huge impact of m-commerce. Though for most retail companies, sales via mobile devices is still a small fraction of total sales. When looking at the world as a whole, the potential for m-commerce is astounding. A lot of retailers are seeing increased sales via mobile devices with a larger percentage of those sales coming from tablets and less from Smartphones. M-commerce currently accounts for over 11% of all e-commerce sales and theses figure are still rising.
