What Is The Flashback Of The Road By Cormac Mccarthy

The Road, written by Cormac McCarthy, is about a man and his son who endure the adversities of the world in its deterioration. The flashback on pages 11 and 12 of the novel demonstrate the man’s happiness during a special day of his childhood. This flashback is comparable to the Intimations Ode by William Wordsworth. In his poem, Wordsworth explains the concept of how people’s perspective of life differ as they grow. In part 9 of the poem, he explains how the memories that seem the most horrible are usually the one’s that affect someone’s life the most. He claims “not for these I raise the song of thanks and praise; but for those obstinate questionings of sense and outward things, fallings from us, vanishing.” This indicates that William Wordsworth
