The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was the biggest milestone to date in American health care policy (Saldin, 2011). There is nothing more complex or controversial in recent history than the passing of the ACA in 2010 (Davidson, 2016). The three goals of the ACA are to expand access to quality care with affordable insurance for all, work with innovation to lower health care cost, and shift focus from treatment to prevention (Rosenbaum, 2011).
The main goal behind the ACA was to provide access to affordable, quality health care by having a high-quality health insurance (Health Care Reform, 2015). There are over 319 million American in the U.S. and around 30 million of those are uninsured and underinsured. This was to be accomplished through

In the 21st century, medicine has become very dependent on technology (Kumar, 2011). With that being said technology is one of the most costly concepts in the health care system today. While you need the best technology to provide the best quality of care, unfortunately, this drives up the cost. The cost associated with health care is a major factor in the number of Americans without coverage (Popescu, 2015). The passing the ACA into law was intended to drive down these health care costs.
This was to be accomplished through education and preventative care, the third goal (Strategic Goals, n.d.). By focusing on this strategy of promoting preventative care, this can help combat medical bills (Adepoju, Preston, & Gonzales, 2017). This cuts down on overall health care spending (Weiner, Marks, & Pauly, 2017). While there are serious health concerns within the upper and middle classes, there are significant issues going on in low-income populations, particularly inner-city and rural areas. The ACA was designed with initiatives to bridge these disparities. To combat these diseases, there is going to have to be better patient education initiatives. In these areas, there are few places to access quality care for these individuals. However, if we educated them on the importance of their health and controlling chronic illnesses such as hypertension, and promote prevention services, the health care system and the patients would both benefit. Preventative health
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act (ACA), is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010 (Martin, 2015). It is designed for Americans to have insurance or be penalized with 1% of your income for the beginning of last year and will raise up towards 2.5% by the beginning of 2016. Also, health care reform was created to fix our health care systems since the cost of the systems is increasing every year in price. The goal of ACA is to help out the insured with being provided with quality care through health care organizations. Thus the ACA is intended to prevent the uninsured from catastrophic medical expenses which not only
The purpose of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or Affordable Care Act (ACA) is to provide more affordable and equitable care to all families and lower the uninsured rate by expanding coverage of insurance while reducing costs. This federal statute was enacted by President Barack Obama on March 23rd, 2010. The Marketplace is where people who are not already insured through the Medicaid, Medicare, or their company insurance can get quotes for health insurance coverage at a lower rate.
The Affordable care act was enacted in order to reform the health insurance industry and to make health insurance more affordable and to provide better health care coverage for the citizens of the United States. The Obama administration set out with the goals of: expanding access to health insurance, lower the uninsured rate, and to reduce the costs of healthcare. The focus of the act is to use regulations on the federal and state level to maximize health care coverage for all citizens of the U.S. In this section I will examine the factors that have come to play into the creation of the affordable care act and the back ground
The purpose of The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is to increase access and make it more affordable for all Americans. Unfortunately, the US health care delivery system lacks the ability to plan, direct, and coordinate from a central agency making it difficult for citizens to obtain health coverage. For that reason, The Affordable Care Act in 2010 became the most extensive health care reform in US history with its main objective to reduce the number of uninsured. The ACA permitted some standards in the health care delivery system to achieve universal coverage. Some examples were authorizing health insurances to start covering children and young adults below the age of 26 under their parents’ health insurance plans also allowing the law to lower

President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010. This law puts in place widespread health insurance reforms that expanded out over the last 4 years and continues to change the lives of many Americans today. Health care reform has been an extensively debated topic for multiple years, and the ACA is the first effective attempt at passing a law aiming to make health care not only affordable, but accessible for all individuals. The law impacts many Americans including, children, employers, government programs which includes federal and state, health plans and private insurers, health care coverage, health care cost, and the quality of care received. The main goal of the law is to expand health care coverage, broaden Medicaid eligibility, minimize and regulate health care cost, and improve the health care delivery system. In order to improve the health care delivery there have been new consumer protections established and an increase access to affordable care.
The ACA is a controversial and complicated piece of legislation, which began rolling health care reform out in 2010 and will continue to do so over the next few years. Rosenbaum (2011) states the Act has five major aims. The first aim is to achieve near-universal coverage while sharing the responsibility among government, employers, and the individuals. The second aim is to improve the quality, affordability, and fairness of health insurance coverage. The third aim is to boost health care value, quality, and efficiency. The fourth aim is to increase access to primary health care. Finally, the fifth aim is to make critical investments in the public’s health (Rosenbaum, 2011).
The Healthcare Reforms Act 2010 or the Affordable Care Act introduces the universal form of health care. The ACA seeks to reduce healthcare costs and allow people to be more engaged in their own health care. The ACA intends to make healthcare more affordable and increase access of health care by expanding government’s Medicaid program to the financially disadvantaged, such as the low income earners, disabled people and people over 65 years of age (Arvantes, 2010).
The Affordable Care Act was a result of the rising cost of health care, lack of access for health care and a need to creating competition and increase quality of care. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was designed to provide health coverage for all Americans, eliminate pre-existing, provide coverage for children until the age of 26, all health insurance companies must utilize plain language and easy-to-understand summary of benefits, curb insurance cancellations, allow for appeals of health plans, band most coverage limits , increase access to preventive care and creates extended access to out-of-network emergency services and physician selection while decreasing the cost of health coverage (LAMBERT, 2012). The implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), popularly known as “Obamacare”, has drastically altered healthcare in America. The goal of this act was to give Americans access to affordable, high quality insurance while simultaneously decreasing overall healthcare spending. The ACA had intended to maximize health care coverage throughout the United States, but this lofty ambition resulted in staggeringly huge financial and human costs.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law on March 23rd, 2010 by President Barack Obama. This radical health care law was a much-needed step in comprehensive health insurance reform. Three important features of the Affordable Care Act are 1. Improving quality and lowering health care costs 2. New consumer protections and 3. Increased access to healthcare. (Key Features. 2014). Under the umbrella of these three key features additional benefits include free preventive care, drug discounts for senior citizens, increased protection against health care fraud, small business tax credits, increased access to health care through the health insurance marketplace, consumer assistance, and non-discrimination based on pre-existing conditions.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) that was signed into law in 2010 guarantees that health insurance will be more affordable and there will be increased access to care for all (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (USDHHS), 2016). It ensures that Americans have additional health
While the goal of the legislation is to improve the nation’s health care, the main objective is to make health insurance affordable for all Americans. To achieve this objective the legislation aims at increasing insurance coverage, controlling cost, decreasing medical induced bankruptcies, and reducing hospital bad debts. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was created to achieve the objectives leading to the overall goal. There are many options readily available to Americans which are affordable based on the individual. In order to be able to succeed we have to go to the root of the problem and start from the bottom to the top.
The ACA, and its many mandates, was developed to address many needs the U.S has with health care coverage. The primary goal of the ACA is to provide affordable, quality health care to the millions of U.S. citizens who are going without coverage. However, the need exists for many reasons. When analyzed, at least three primary reasons can be thought of as driving forces of the development.
