By its definition, social order is the term which refers to the structures and institutions which allow our society to continue functioning. It encompasses all the processes which must be put in place for the society to maintain its foundation and avoid breaking down into chaos. For decades, if indeed not centuries, philosophers and sociologists have been attempting to identify exactly what social order consists of and what is most necessary to continue its presence in the community. Among the most successful and highly respected of these sociologists are Michel Foucault and Erving Goffman. Both men published well-received literature about the structures of social order and each presents a very different view of exactly what is necessary in order to for society to maintain that order.

Relationship is significant to persons, mainly, because we were created social beings. Relationship to social beings is inevitable. But it is not just a simple and plain relationship, we aim for a good and right relationship.

Relationships exist across the workplace because work requires socialization. Social relations of production is defined by rights and obligations of people toward each other at every level of production. Primitive societies are built on cooperation and egalitarian which is the belief that all people are equal. In contrast industrial societies are built on hierarchy, competition, and are often unequal. Through time the world became more industrial in work society and with this change came inequality. In a primitive society decision making is a group effort and most people in in the society have skills that are similar to each other. With advancement of work, egalitarian ideas dissipated and were replaced by a new way of organizing work in a way similar to a hierarchy. In a society where we spend more time with the people we work with than our own families, Social Relationships in the workplace could not be more important. In order for our work to feel satisfactory we must connect and maintain social relationships and networks. Social communication is almost as important in the workplace as the actual work itself is. It is getting harder and harder to be able to separate social and work relationships. This is why we must examine how to maintain these things because ultimately the success of our work is highly effected by it.

Imagine a world where every person was just like you with the same interests, same tastes in music, food, books, even same views of society. It would seem like a perfect dream, a heaven even. However, what if other people came into that perfect society? What will happen then? How will the people in that society function with outsiders? There would be chaos and confusion. Now, apply that to our own world, our Earth. Realistically, there is no place where everyone is the same and thinks the same and acts the same. Our community is special. We have so many races, so many ethnicities, so many different people, all in this one city. Together, with each other, we learn about one another, even subconsciously. Our community works together and teaches us a realistic image of the world, teaches us the experiences and opinions of others, and teaches us life experiences.

As a social factor, it incorporates the interrelationship that lies between people living within a society.
