Third speech of Moses (27: 1-28: 68). For this the elders of Israel and the priests are with Moses, while he recites in detail the curses of Yahweh for disobedience and the blessings for faithfulness. Serious warnings are given regarding the frightening results of infidelity. If those of Israel as their holy people continue to hear the voice of Jehovah their God, they will enjoy wonderful blessings, and all the peoples of the earth will see that the name of Jehovah is called upon them. However, if they do not do this, Yahweh will send upon them "the curse, confusion and rebuke" (28:20). They will be afflicted by disgusting diseases, drought and hunger; their enemies will persecute and enslave them, and they will be scattered and annihilated
I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation. “Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to

Critical investigations into the Bible have revealed nuances and subversions which go beyond the mere didactic nature the text displays in a preliminary surface reading. The book of Exodus, the second book of the Torah and the Old Testament, begins with a depiction of Israel's servitude in Egypt and God choosing Moses to move Israel out of that servitude. The Pharaoh resists the purposes of God, and God responds by sending plagues on Egypt that culminate with the death of the firstborn and deliverance at the sea. Israel saves itself from this through the Passover and then journeys to Sinai. At Sinai, Israel receives the Ten Commandments and the covenant relationship is established. While Moses is receiving instructions from God on Sinai with respect to the designs for the tabernacle, Israel rebels by building the golden calf. Moses intervenes successfully on behalf of Israel, and
The oracle in this passage is a clear message that God has spoken to his servant Amos about Israel’s wrong way of living. Amos announces Israel’s punishment and the purpose of his speech is clear: the Yahweh has spoken and the people must listen.
The rapture of the church, will be an event that will attract the attention of the people of Israel. That day will be the end of the Church age and the beginning of the Tribulation. God had put Jacob’s offspring in zealous when gave a place into His kingdom to the Gentile-Christian world, because Israel had rejected the Messiah, the own Son of God, (John 1.11-12; Romans 11.11). Thus, the time of Jacob’s trouble will be a day, according to the prophet Jeremiah, in which still God deals with the people of Israel, allowing them to feel pain, as the result of His punishment over them. God allowed the suffering over them because they sought to fulfill the law, going behind the works of the law, rather than by faith. Then, Israel will call out to
This phrase is repeated throughout the book to remind the people of Israel to not lose heart and trust in God.

Without devotion to God, violence and death would flourish in Israel. These factors would impede God’s blessings of security and life; thus, the Mosaic covenant demonstrates the continual faithfulness of God in the Old Testament. Finally, God is faithful to Israel during the people’s complaints in the desert. Rather than abandoning the nation for its faithlessness, God provides them will nourishment and protection during their journey. These acts further reinforce the faithfulness of God, even when his followers stray. In all, the Pentateuch demonstrates the theme of God’s faithfulness.
Moses, in the book of Exodus, was obedient to God and chose to carry the burden of freeing the Jewish people. He used nature to plague the Egyptian Pharaoh in freeing the Jewish slaves. However, God did not cause harm to the Egyptians because he did not love them, in fact, he gave them the warnings of the plagues to come; unfortunately, they did not listen and underwent the suffering. Despite nature’s evil during the seven plagues, the positivity that came out of it was the release of the Jewish people for the Pharaoh. They had been enslaved for many years, but they were finally able to be free once
Ever since I was little, i have had the career aspirations of any other child. From ballerina to firefighter, fashion designer to chef. At one point I wanted to be a veterinarian, but when I came to the realization that I don't particularly like animals that dream slowly faded and died. When I looked back upon my previous dreams I realized one common theme, Helping people. It was from then on that I knew who I wanted to be.
When Herodotus stated that, “Egypt was the gift of the Nile” he was referring to the natural boundaries of the basin, the barriers of the Mediterranean Sea and the cataracts along the river, which bound and united Egypt together. (Worlds Together, Worlds Apart, pg 64) I agree with Herodotus statement, but I think Egypt owes much more to the Nile than it just being a natural boundary to unifying their culture. It’s also true that these barriers along with the vast desert provided the Egyptians with a sense of protection from invasion. Also, without the Nile waters Egypt wouldn’t have been the wealthy agricultural society that they became. Annual flooding of the Nile brought rich alluvial soils to the basin from African highlands, these soils

To speak of the Hebrew Scripture is to speak of story, a story stretching from the very beginning of time to only a few centuries before the beginning of the Common Era. It is to speak of richness of content, of purpose and of reality and to engross oneself in an overarching narrative that, depending on your personal convictions, continues to the present day. Within this richness is found a wide variety of different events and experience, told through a series of genre ranging from foundational myth to apocalypse, law giving to poetry, genealogy to wisdom and many more. Within this diversity however, three broad sections can be discerned that speak to a shared purpose and content, these are the sections of Law, Prophecy and Writings. It
