Uganda is a hot year round country with an agricultural production, developing world rather than industrial. Africa’s climate change involves with some of the most frequent and severe challenges such as health resources are under heavy pressure. Three factors that deal with issues related to the food or agriculture in the developing world of Africa are poverty, environment, and health.
Poverty is a serious issue. The hungrier person is, the less productive he or she can be. Children who are bored in hungry mother are more likely suffering from birth weight. People are not hungry due to lack of food, rather they are hungry and do not have the money to pay for it and the houses they live do not suit their living conditions. Every day, thousands

Flies flying around with all kinds of sewage sludge smelly rotten vegetables. The water disposal issue was real in Uganda because there is no waste water treatment system we can see the river is full of garbage everywhere no wonder a child drink it they will get sick eventually. Drinking clean water is needed for basic health and sanitation is those who are not able to have access to it are at risk for many diseases such as HIV can be attributed to the high poverty rate in South Africa. I believe that this is such a big deal because diseases killing millions of people leaving families to deal with expenses, medications and time to care and treat victims, which most Africans cannot afford it because when more people are catching disease there is more effort to cure people instead of improving the economy. The reason that there is a water problem in Uganda is because many communities still rely on contaminated water sources like open wells and streams as their main water
Nowadays, hunger is not only linked with food it is also related to the family income level, also, it represents the feeling of starving to the time that it is disturbing or even frustrating. Oxford dictionary define hunger as “A feeling of discomfort or weakness caused by lack of food, coupled with the desire to eat.” Indeed, most people would admit that when someone is starving, they are not performing to their absolute potential. This sense of resentment and anger when one is craving for food is prompted by a decline in the body’s blood- glucose level. In this case if the level declines, the human brain will recognize it as a threatening situation. The leading cause of hunger among
In the chapter Body and Mind, Shipler talks about food. "Food is one of the few flexible parts of a tight budget."(Shipler, 201) Other bills can not be changed, rent, utilities, phone bill can not be negotiated, and the amount is due on the due date, period. Food on the other hand can be nipped to fit what money is left over after the concrete bills are paid. "The result is an array of malnourished children in America."(Shipler, 201) When the children are hungry they can not concentrate at school, develop properly or fight off illness. This pushes these children farther and father away from hope of climbing out of poverty. If they can not concentrate and do well in school, they will perhaps not graduate, not get into college, and not get a good job. If they can not develop and fight off illness, they could be doomed to either a sickly life or a very short one. The parents are unable to get proper medical attention and even if they are able if the nutritional situation doesn't change, the medical treatment is almost pointless because the child can't survive with the constant lack of basic needs. Many children suffer from a condition know as "failure to
Hunger among the poor is a global issue and has been an issue for years. Downsizing of companies, salary cuts, unemployment and the rising cost for housing has diminished funds for lower income and middle class families to provide nutritional meals for their families. Many homes in America
Though it is not right for any child, mother, father, etc. to go hungry sometimes us Americans need to take the time to think about how lucky we are to live in a country that provides us with opportunities for food assistance programs. Berg quotes Robert Rector about how hunger America actually is, “But while hunger does exist in the United States, it is relatively restricted in scope and frequency. For example, [federal] survey data…show[s] 96 percent of US households report they have “enough food to eat,” (p. 113). One in six people in America report having food security (uncertain availability to adequate food in the past 12 months), but somehow almost half of the food in the United States goes to waste today according to “Wasted: How America is losing up to 40 percent of its food from farm to fork to landfill” by Gunders. (2012).
Many people do not realize that hunger and malnutrition is a problem that many Americans face on a daily basis. Maybe, we are failing to realize that our country is not perfect, but if we don’t try to do anything then more and more children will die. The problem with child hunger is that the United States may not face as dramatic problems with hunger as that of other countries, but
Hunger in America happens every year to homeless people, kids, and adults,as sad as it is even new born babies. This could happen to anyone why? There is several reasons maybe some people don’t have the money. What if you were that person how would you live knowing that your child isn’t getting proper nutrition? Many people don’t seem to realize how much this really happens. one in 7 people in the United States face trying and struggling to get food to eat, and more than 12 million American family’s face hunger. Food insecurity is harmful to all people, but it is especially devastating to children. Proper nutrition is what a child’s needs to help with their development or you can say growing. Did you know that while hunger is nonstop - African
Many factors contribute to the food insecurity faced by many American’s today. Poverty seems to attribute to the hunger crisis more drastically than anything else. More specifically, unequal distribution of wealth is the principle cause of hunger. The world does in fact produce enough food to feed everyone, the issues is that income is not distributed is in such a way that everyone can afford or have access to food.
Imagine your stomach growling, a feeling of emptiness, fatigue, and an inability to concentrate. Most people would associate these feelings with hunger and eat. Unfortunately, many Americans do not have the luxury of eating because of living in poverty. According to the Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the number of people living in poverty rose from 31.6 million in 2000 to 36.5 million in 2006. The number of people living in households facing food insecurity rose from 31 million in 1999 to 35.5 million in 2006. More than 12 million of the people living in food insecure households were children (Labue, 2009). Food America (2017) reports:
Poverty is one of the main causes of child hunger. Most people that live in poverty can't afford to buy food. All the money they have goes to housing bills.
Does anyone ever think about the effect going hungry has on a person’s overall health? Yes, they may not be obese as the rest of the country, but there are other health effects that directly affect a person when it comes to being food insecure. Food insecurity is defined as the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. Hunger in the United States affects so many people, more than one realizes for a country that is so well established. Huger affects children, seniors, different cultures, people that live in the rural areas of the country, and even the working class Americans in your surrounding communities, essentially your neighbors! Our government has established a few programs to help curb this health issue for our public and some have shown to be very effective. You may not think of having food stamps would help someone with their health issues such as getting better sleep, or depression. But if one person’s life was saved by having a reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food source I would say this is a bigger issue in our country than we think it is.
What may be hard to see is that hunger is everywhere. Yes, hunger is in Africa and third-world countries, but also in the United States. Childhood hunger is nearly a bigger issue than overall hunger in the United States. Studies show that hunger among children has a higher percentage than hunger as a whole (Feeding America 28). It is found that children suffer from food insecurity in every county in the United States (Feeding America 30). It is easy to sit back and think that everyone has the financial and physical means to find food, but they do not. Over thirty percent of all children (under the age of eighteen) in New Mexico live in food insecure households; this state has the highest percent in the entire United States (Feeding America

After reading the extensive “The New Face of Hunger” (Tracie McMillan), my eyes became more open to the overall issue of hunger, faced by many people today. In a few words, I was absolutely shocked by the true meaning and examples provided of what exactly food insecurity is. Honestly speaking, when I hear the word “hunger” I think of a human who has no food, living on the streets. “The New Face of hunger” brought to my attention that food insecurity is much more than simply having no food. In fact, “In 2006 the U.S. government replaced “hunger” with the term “food insecure” to describe any household where, sometime during the previous year, people didn’t have enough food to eat” (The New Face of Hunger). Not only was I able to see the harsh
There are a variety of causes held responsible for the water crisis in Africa. These causes have been taken from African’s control and desperately need to be solved. Climate change is one of the countless reasons that there is a high demand for water in Africa. An article entitled “Africa’s Water Crisis Deepens” written for the 2006 News Scientist, states that Drought, famine and spreading deserts have plagued Africa for the past 30 years. With the expansion of desertification, the process in which land becomes increasingly dry with little to no water resources, areas of land have dried out and are useless to humans due to the lack of rainfall on the African continent over the past several years.
Food is one of the basic needs of a human being to survive. All of us depend on food for having a good health, therefore with the lack of food many people will be starving and malnourished.
