The Power of Representation in Media Throughout history, Black people have been grossly misrepresented in the media, leading to consequences that translate off the screen and into real life. The pervasive media stereotypes of the Black community show just how important accurate depictions of Black people are today. l;The movie, Get Out, directed by Jordan Peele, shows how these stereotypes are not only unrealistic, they are also harmful. Another typical portrayal is that Black people do not show any emotions besides anger, sass, or complicity. However, in Get Out, Chris is seen as a character with depth and a full range of emotions.
A student wants to quit choir/band,but her mom will not let her quit. The only other way to quit choir/band is to exit during semester but the student just can not wait for choir/band.The student thought maybe it would be nice if they did not have to wait till semester to exit choir/band.This student could have a better use of their time but instead the student has to stay in this class till semester. This rule should be changed so that students don’t have to go to classes they don’t enjoy.”At least fifty percent of students end up quitting band or choir because they don't like it.”
A memorable moment for me that I can still remember very well is when I caught my first wild steelhead. What is a steelhead you might wonder, a steelhead is what a rainbow trout is called that has gone out to the ocean and now swims up stream and spawns like a salmon. A wild steelhead is one that has not been raised in a hatchery it has naturally spawned on that river before there was ever a hatchery. Anyway this is no easy task to complete, and not many people have done this specially on the river that I grew up fishing. There isn’t many salmon or steelhead left on that river let alone a wild steelhead, and salmon.
You only get out of it what you put into it. If you don't put anything in, nothing will come out. I have heard this quote many times before. It is my own personal philosophy. I believe that working hard pays off. I believe that my hard work will have a good outcome some day and it will not go to waste.
Not long after starting my freshman year of high school, my brother and I decided to go fishing because he had recently got his license and eager to hit the road. My brother decided to take us to a new spot that I was unfamiliar with, but after a couple hours became I became impatient and bored. So I decided to go towards the center of the river to cool myself down from the heat, little did I remember that there was downpour the night before so the currents were intense and powerful.
Next, I helped my grand-uncle set up the fishing poles. After we threw the fishing line into the water, we sat down and ate while waiting for the fish to eat our bait. After a while, I saw my brother’s pole moving up and down. I quickly called my grand-uncle over. When my grand-uncle pulled the line, he told us there was a large fish. We were all very excited!
When all the fishing poles were loaded up and the the tack box was all organized, we piled in the little truck. The whole way there grandpa was telling me and my friend Reed all about the biggest fish he had caught in his life.

Currently, there are about 7.6 billion people living on Earth. It is safe to say that no one person knows about every other individual on the planet. Now what about those whose time has passed? There has been an inconceivably large amount of human life on this planet. So many individuals with their own stories, wisdom, opinions, ideas, inspirations, and more. How much of that has been lost to time or lack of attention? It is impossible to say what could be if no one was lost. However, as long as a person lives, that person has not yet been lost.
You may ask yourself, what is your hope for this country. Our world is pretty messed up these days. How long is it going to take until the madness goes away? Children nowadays are growing up in environments of distress and we fear that they will grow up hostile. More and more kids are growing up with anxiety and depression because they don’t know who they can turn to for comfort when they feel so alone.
Doesn’t everyone need at least one piece of advice? It could be as little as something like using your brilliant little head, or just challenge yourself at anything that is complex. Everyone needs a light to follow and someone to help them in a certain way. If I could give anyone some advice, I would actually give it to myself in the future. I would tell myself to be magnificent in school, never give up, and don’t be a jerk to anyone.
This is just one of the experience in my life that required me to be patient with yourself, patient with the people around me who can only say what they can see. The reason that this quality is important to me because it has helped shaped me to being a better person. A person who is able to control her emotions and stay positive when facing any kind of difficulty.
I am disappointed in myself for my failures. I have failed the course English 1303 because I did not manage my time well and procrastinated. Procrastinating caused me to turn in sloppy work. I also didn’t understand some things that were said in class on how to do an assignment and refused to seek for help. Refusing to seek help caused me to do assignments incorrectly which caused me to receive a failing. I have accepted that it was my full responsibility for failing the course, thinking I could handle more than I really could and pretended to understand more than I actually did.
That day I had two fishing poles rigged in two different styles trying to catch two different kinds of fish. Pole number one was my favorite pole. I put my new shiny red spinner bait on it and would make a couple of casts every minute or so. The second pole was for tiny fish that were easy to catch because I was 5 and size didn’t matter. I couldn’t just catch
It was about six o'clock in the morning when my grandfather comes in to wake me up and said time to get ready and come get some breakfast. I had coffee and toast like I do every morning I spend with him. My dad was already up and packed our lunch and a cooler full of drinks. At 6:40 we went to the bait shop where our charter captain's boat is at. It was a warm morning off the start and the sound was a little rough but I knew we were still going and were going to make it a great day.
