My mask represents the character Juliet. These items on my mask demonstrate a little bit of knowledge about Juliet. The first one which are the features(purple, red) relates to birds and how they need to learn how to fly at first in order to become an expert on hunting food. Well, it relates to Juliet because she began out small (baby) and now she slowly begins to become a woman and is part ready to marry. The second one is, the amount of gems that are purple and red relates to how old Juliet is currently in the book which is 14 years of age. Purple and red also is associated with royalty and how only rich people could use these colours. The white gem in the middle represents how Juliet was once innocent, bright and never did anything rebellious
The scarf gives an insight into the children’s minds, which are filled with dark thoughts. It foreshadows death once again, however, this time the personal item belongs to Lydia, foreshadowing her
I made this mask to represent Mercutio from the play Romeo and Juliet. I drew a jesters hat because Mercutio is a character who is seen as a joker and he is not taken seriously. He jokes around with Romeo and says many things that make him seem that he is not genuine and trustworthy. I also drew a sword because Mercutio is also a character who is very violent. Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel and when Romeo refuses, Mercutio says that he will fight Tybalt instead.
The color red symbolics all of the colors and how each can have numerous emotions coming
Canada put a great amount of effort into the Second World War through the Salvation Army, sending many troops and weapons, and also having the Prime Minister as Mackenzie King. Although Canada had a small population, it was significant in contributing effort into WW2. Many may argue otherwise, but Canada was a large supporter in the war. Canada continued to contribute economically, politically, and militarily in several ways.

Juliet’s character, developed by the symbols of birds, such as doves, shows the readers that Juliet is beautiful, innocent, and pure. Romeo and his friend Benvolio are talking about Romeo’s true love, which at the moment he thinks is Rosaline. Benvolio and Romeo are planning to sneak into the Capulet's party and Benvolio is trying to tell Romeo that “her face with some that I shall show./And I will make thee think thy swan a crow” (1.2. 88-89 Shakespeare). Which means that even though Romeo thinks Rosaline is as beautiful as a swan, she will look as ugly as a crow compared to all of the other women at the party. This quote foreshadows that Romeo will find someone who is more beautiful than Rosaline. This person whom he will find will be Juliet based on the foreshadowing. Thus saying that Juliet is a swan, more beautiful than every other girl in Verona, making them all look as ugly as crows. This quote also tells the readers that Juliet is innocent and pure because of the connotations associated with the symbol of a dove. A dove is white and white is symbolic of innocence and purity. Before this party happens Juliet is talking with her mother about true love. She tells her mother that “[She’ll] look to like if looking liking move./But no more deep will [she] endart [her] eye/ Than your consent give[s] [her] strength to make it fly” (1.3. 103-105). The word fly in this quote is a connotation
Though often times in the world one may get caught up in the secrets and rumours about them or those around them, it is these secrets and rumours that shape a human being’s character and relationships with those around them. In the Shakespearean tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, the effects that secrets have on characters’ relationships shape the play, yet more specifically, it is the literal secrets regarding relationships that shape such relationships, which, in turn, shapes the play. Different relationships as outlined thoroughly in the play are not only a result of the secrets themselves, but the location in which these certain secrets are initially portrayed.
Michael Peterson Mr. Rathez English 1 23 November 2015 You may think foil is just that shiny tin used to wrap food or is useless and prefer saran wrap, but Foil as a character is an important aspect to a good story. A Foil character usually is one that contrasts with another character in order to highlight particular qualities of the other character, which in a way makes that character shine. In some cases, even a subplot can be used as a foil to the main plot. Arthur Brook wrote an essay which Shakespeare rewrote into a classic play called Romeo and Juliet.
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare uses Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence to unknowingly foreshadow their fate while being starstruck for one another. In act three Romeo becomes very dramatic about being banished from Verona, he says he would rather replace being “banished from the world, and world’s exile is death” (Shakespeare, III.3.20-21). He wants to end his life because being banished from Verona means that he basically is banished from the world. He’s away from Juliet and he thinks he has no purpose in the world. Shakespeare has Romeo be this dramatic because he is definitely in a completely different world with Juliet, to him not seeing Juliet is a big enough punishment that kills Romeo.
If you’re trying to find success at love at first sight, you might have a greater chance playing Russian roulette with an extra bullet locked, loaded and ready to go. Love is a hardcore drug and even though it satisfies that empty feeling, it comes along with a great deal of active side effects; some more extreme than others. The Shakespeare written play, Romeo and Juliet, is about two “love” blinded teens from the feuding Montague and Capulet family, fighting for their star-crossed love. Shakespeare uses many sets of character foils to show the numerous amounts of different people that are total opposites, but they still interact on a daily basis; He also uses it to emphasize the feuding of the two family names. A foil is a character that contrasts another
As people fear haunts us all and stops us from doing things that we think is impossible to do, but then we show bravery because we tend to show confidence among ourselves and let nothing stop us from doing it and we just go for it. As we read the story of Roméo and Juliet we find out that Mr. frayer gives Juliet a potion because she doesn’t want to marry Paris , as we get deeper into the story we see that Shakespeare shows fear in Juliet by after taking the potion from Mr. frayer she goes home and starts feeling concerned of drinking the potion because she is afraid that she might not wake up in time for Roméo to get her or even she might wake up to early and go to the wedding with Paris and she is fearful of thinking that the potion that is
Interpretation of the symbolism behind the mask varies, however the rings are thought to invoke both the ridges of a black moth chrysalis, representing a girl’s transformation into a woman, and the ripples of water created as a leader rose from the water, the home of female spirits. The masks elaborately braided hair and scarification also refer to the appearance of this leader and what was considered ideally beautiful. The expression on the face is to convey the wisdom, grace, and self control that the young women would hopefully inherit.
In Giovanni's Room, the main character, David travels a journey deprived of personal growth and acceptance. David finds himself trapped in a white, straight, masculine, American ideal which does not define him. He spends the novel trying to reject his past and aspects of his identity which he wishes to ignore. Through David's struggles, Baldwin shows a connection between internal and external spaces and how they create a parallel for David’s state of mind. Also, Baldwin establishes and rely on the metaphor of the “closet” both in a literal and a metaphorical sense by making Giovanni’s room, the place, where David’s struggles and confusion with his own sense of self come through.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare uses symbolism to exemplify how fate is inevitable. The biggest symbol from the beginning to the end, is the stars. The stars represent one’s fate, (and it was believed that the stars determined what happens in one’s lifetime) include parenthesis?. Before heading into the Capulet’s party, Romeo states, “I fear too early, for my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful date with this night’s revels, and expire the term” (I.iv.106-109). Before he even arrives at the masquerade he has angst about an unknown fated consequence that will arise from attending the party. When Balthasar shows up at Verona, he tells Romeo of Juliet’s tragic death, as he replies with, “Is it e’en so? Then I defy you, stars!” (V.i.24). Romeo challenges fate itself, to
