Deborah Harris Karen Nattrass ECD 50 March 16, 2017 Reflective Writing # 2 What I see as the intrinsic value of being a young child is genuine innocence, their ability to trust everyone, to love and be loved unconditionally and without question. Their playfulness, their natural humor. Never-ending curiosity, asking questions, and saying what they mean. What it means to be a kid is having an unobstructed imagination, to be a princess, a super hero, a mommy, a daddy, anything you want to be. They can be in a rocket ship or standing in the tower of a big castle. Playing hide and seek or kick the can until the street lights come on. It is believing the whole world is at your feet and you can do and being anything because you have no idea what a big bad world it is …show more content…
Children appreciate the little things and have no problem saying when they’re afraid of something. It’s thinking outside the box, the boundless curiosity within and marching to the beat of their own drum. It’s knowing you are safe and protected by the ones you love. Being a child is the best time of one’s life. Just the pure innocence of the way a child sees the world. Children will make mistakes, they will be messy, get dirty and that’s okay. It is all part of learning and growing up. We should allow them, as long as possible, to be that innocent child that sees the world with enthusiasm, naiveté, unbridled glee, and laughter. What teachers and parents can do to recognize and appreciate what it means to be a kid? Most important is to work together. If children see that their parents and teachers are willing to work together, then the child will also trust and believe in their teacher. Adults must always remember that each child is unique and they have different strengths, and different learning styles. Not all children learn in the
Unit 10 Understand the expected pattern of development for children and young people from birth - 19 years.
‘’We are moulded by and re-moulded by those who have loved us; and though the love may pass, we are nevertheless their work for good or ill’’ ( Francois Mairlac) 1. Explain the sequence of development that would normally be expected in children and young people from birth to -19 years.Children have certain basic, physical and psychological needs and if these needs are not met then growth psychological developmental will be distorted in many ways. Everyone needs shelter, food, water, warmth and not to mention grooming and hygiene, activities which are laid down in Maslow’s hierarchy of basic need. If they are neglected or unfulfilled then this will have

Development of a Four Year Old Child Works Cited Not Included Enthusiasm in children is like a ripple in the water ... it spreads. ~Anonymous~ The study of child development helps us understand the changes we see as children grow and develop.
I was asked to create and answer questions about a virtual child. When I was told this was an assignment I thought “this should be easy”. Boy was I wrong! I found many things can affect the outcome of my child. If I am too strict or too easy, the child’s behavior will show this. Over time, this will also affect the child’s temperament. I have learned that some of my classmates’ virtual children are harder to get along with and require more discipline then others. I decided to just trust my instinct and answer the questions as if they were for a real child. In this report you will see how my answers affected my virtual daughter Alexis and, my experience throughout the duration of the assignment.
We do this by providing them with an education but when you really think about, we are pushing the children away from childhood. We shouldn’t be spending “great sums of money on electronic entertainment centers that don’t speak to the soul’s need for child-like direct pleasure”(53). I agree that, “child wisdom is different from adult wisdom, but it has its place” (53). Children need to be appreciated and given the time to be a child. They need to be able to play, explore, and wonder, as it is imperative, to the care of their soul. I also think there is some truth in that we tend to push children into adulthood because we ourselves long to be childish. We no longer can play, be silly or stay up and sleep all day because we are adults and it is frowned upon. We must be mature and go to bed at a reasonable time because we must work and provide for our family. I know that my soul longs for child inside of
My reflections this week’s discussion is of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave/Republic. I found this to be an interesting reading and video. Life itself is a long road of learning. Throughout our lives, we perceive things to what we believe or want to believe whether factual or not. We also believe in what we experience bad or good. Sometimes that bad experience can hold us back from moving forward or maybe it is that good experience we believe we don’t need to look any further. Learning is part of life and it is most important. It is what molds us who we are and who we become. If we hold us selves back, we will never truly know what opportunity, knowledge or experience there is to be taken. Sometimes we will be those prisoners that don’t
I always try to respect race, religion and cultural identity as there is the need for continuity and security, This is one of the reasons why I always address each young person by his/her name.
I feel children need guidance and support from the world around them. That is why they have parents, family and teachers. I believe, like Barbara Coloroso and others, that children are worth all the work teachers put into their job. Children are not only worth it, but they deserve our very best. Even the "troublesome" kid in the class, deserves to get an education and learn how to read so he/she can fill out a job application when he/she is eighteen. As adults, who have gone through most of our schooling, we owe
Jonas and Brande are partners in a book/coffee shop and they are also friends. Brande finally got to meet up with Jonas after rescheduling for the third time and also, it was a no call, no show for the last one. Jonas is saying he is too busy with the house and family issues. Brande letting him know that her job is getting overwhelmed and too many responsibilities that she is handling and that he need to focus on his responsibilities. They rescheduled the meeting and after six days Brande was waiting for a solution that Jonas going to present so he decided to sell his shares to anyone that pays more. Brande disagree with his decision and told him
The interview I conducted took place in the courtyard of my complex in Smallville, with the interviewee and myself. For the purpose of his paper and to protect the adolescent privacy lets call her Regina. Regina is a fourteen-year-old adolescent female of Africa American descent. She is above average in height and carries a very shy and nonchalance deposition. She is a very attractive young lady and does above average work in her school setting. She appears to be a normal every day child with a lifetime of experiences awaiting her.
My prior understanding of discipline was uneducated and inaccurate. I was certain that discipline was related to punishment and the goal was to have a particular unwanted behavior to cease. A child that required discipline would be singled out, scolded, forced to perform a chore or action, such as sit for a time out, or the child would have something taken away, such as television or toys. As a child, I grew up in a household with parents who were primarily authoritative. They tended to be fair; however they did use punishment through "grounding", which generally meant that we were not able to engage in fun for set period of time. Other times, we were instructed to perform some sort of labor of their choice, such as washing my Dad's
From birth through adolescence, a significant amount of developmental changes occur. Children grow and develop physically, cognitively and emotionally. Each individual aspect of development has an effect on the child as a whole. If a child struggles developmentally in any of the areas (physically, emotionally or cognitively), it can affect one of the other areas of development as well. For example, if a child is underdeveloped physically, they may experience emotional development issues because they may be made fun of and teased by other children.
Let children be children, is not only a popular phrase heard in education, but it is also my motto. Yes, it is true, today’s children are tomorrow’s future; but how we choose to raise our children determines the outcome of our future. Many believe academics should be stressed more in schools, taking away from children’s playtime. I feel that play is what molds a child. Play allows not only a child’s imagination to run freely, but builds and strengthens children’s motor, language, cognitive, and social emotional development skills. I believe that play; along with parental involvement forms a child’s identity. Play is what makes children: tomorrow’s future.
Water is the most common fluid on earth, it is crucial to all life forms. It is the most essential mechanism for all biochemical reactions of any living human, animals, and plants, and proceeds in many of these responses. In spite of the chemical uncomplicatedness of the water molecule, its physical and chemical properties are pretty extraordinary and have been a major research topic for many years. Many trials and experiments provide great vision into the structure and dynamics of water, but these often need the resources of a main research laboratory. Furthermore, some must come about under exciting conditions, such as those leading to superheated or super cooled water. One of the major water treatment processes is Desalination. Desalinations is the process of eliminating excess salt and other minerals from water in order to reach fresh water suitable, and safe for animal consumption and irrigation feeding. However, some desalination plants reach a level where their water is suitable and safe for human consumption. Desalinization can be accomplished by means of evaporation, freezing, reverse osmosis, and vapor compressor. Since any city is near the coast, a desalination plant is the best selection to afford fresh drinking water for the community.
