I was in ninth grade when I started playing basketball. I had little experience in the sport but then I decided to go to my school’s freshman tryouts. Little did I know, the school basically had most of their roster chosen already because they have all been playing since elementary school, and they had been doing team workouts for a month before tryouts. That didn’t stop me from playing though.
In elementary and middle school, I wasn’t really into sports, and I didn’t have many friends. When I got to high school, however, I started playing basketball for fun and working on my skills. By going to different parks in Reading, I started making more friends. I was never really the best player on the court, but I always tried my best at every
I began to play organized basketball in 5th grade and have continued all the way through my senior year. Throughout my career I have grown tremendously each year, earning several improvement awards along the way. I had always struggled to assume my role on the team, but throughout my senior high career I learned how I best contributed to my team, earning several hustle awards and assist awards. I have learned through athletics how to be team player, and understand that not every player has the same role, which is also related to everyday life and life in the
To begin with, I am pretty good at my free throws and 3-pointers. Like today at Knock-out during indoor recess, I got Hunter Clay out with my 3-pointer mad dog skillzzzz! I have been playing basketball since April 2017 and I have loved it ever since. My older cousin taught me how to play and I wasn’t really the best before. I still love to play even if I don’t have a basketball hoop at my house because of our cars and how my parents say they are “Too expensive to risk a scratch or dent on”.
Running into the gym with my team, knowing it was my last middle school basketball game, but first championship game I felt elated and truly blessed. My knees quivered with anticipation after seeing all the bleachers filled with people. After realizing even the press and other media was in attendance I grasped the moment like a newly elected president at his inauguration. I am warming up doing basketball drills, when I began to look at the flags on the gym wall depicting the history of the basketball team. The years and dates of the last championship game, Historically a championship game had not been won since 2007 . The more I stared at the flags, the more it made me want to win this game and make history in this gym. As the crowd and cheerleaders start to chant, cheer and get loud, I started to feel more comfortable and rowdy more than I had ever felt in any other game that I’ve played. Waiting for the referee to blow the whistle for jumpall to start. I felt my fingertips tapping the side of my leg, which for some reason gives me a sign to myself that I am pumped up and ready to play!
It was a cool dry summer night at the park. I was playing basketball listening to the echo of the ball bounce on the court, I cross over to the left, step back, and watch the ball soar threw the air as it swishes threw the net. This is my stress reliever. Basketball is something that I've learned outside of school, its taught me many important life skills. Such as a great work ethic which helps me in practices and translates to my school work. This game has helped me overcome a lot of challenges, from being short in a tall sport, to real life struggles. Also, basketball is a sport that’s taught me sportsmanship, and how to win and lose, which lead to respect. Another thing basketball has taught me is to follow my responsibilities, such as remembering my gear, and doing my homework to obtain good grades.
Basketball has been my favorite sport ever since I was little. Who knew a little rubber ball could bring so much joy to a person. The sound of the ball dribbling as it hits the cold gym floors. The smell after a good workout might have been unpleasant to the nose, but all the ecstasy it brought was definitely worth it. I played in my middle school, Aptos, from sixth grade to eighth grade and I just started playing for Washington in my sophomore year. I was such a big fan of basketball and my all time favorite players will always be Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, and Allen Iverson. They were known for their great dribbling skills and their ability to defend anyone, no matter the size or position that person played. These are the type of players that inspire people to be more creative and have more fun with the ball.
The sight and sound of watching the basketball swish through the net are second to none. For this reason and much more, I have fallen in love with the game of basketball and all the sport has to offer. From an extremely young age until now I have played the game and I hope to be either playing or involved with the game as long as I live. I have tried many other sports including soccer, football, and lacrosse but none can compare to the pleasure and passion that I have for basketball. This has become more than a sport for me, it has become a passion and something that I have dedicated my time, energy and hard work into.
When talking about having a nice shape, along with good health. The first thing to do is exercise. Many people think that it takes a lot of times for exercise and require much force, and sometime you much cost for the good exercise in fitness gym. I think just exercise regularly is enough. My favorite sport is basketball because it makes use all parts of the body.
When The Ball Is In My Hand!!! My favorite sport is basketball. Basketball has been my favorite sport since I can remember. I was at a very young age when I started joining teams and playing in games.
Almost every day, I will be practicing basketball for 2 whole hours. It is very tiring and can make you ache. Basketball can be a very tiring sport to some players. It can make you cramp, bruise, and ache. But, there are some positive things about it. The things in basketball I like the most are shooting, dribbling, and defending.
I can recall this day unquestionably. It was a bright summer day, the trees looked taller and the daily breeze was magnificent. I had just woken up from a nap, when I received a text message from my basketball coach. It read, “Hey girls, let’s get together and go hoop at the rec today.” I read the message and I was amped with excitement. It had been months since I had actually played basketball with all girls. I missed it so much.
I look down at my a left shin, a darkish, brown scar sits there, and will stay there probably for the rest of my life, but I do not mind. It reminds me of my dedication and sacrifice for the game of basketball.

“Lebron is going off”, my father was telling me. I could barely hear it though over how loud was at the insane game. I was the game of the year. The Cavs and Warriors were playing in game 7 of the finals. I didn’t think a crowd could be so loud and energetic. Halftime was coming up. The score was 49-42. The halftime show was about to start. The players ran to their locker rooms. Then, out of nowhere, “BANG”. It was loudest sound I have ever heard. After that a dance group emerged. They were flipping like snowflakes in the air through the main doors. They were dressed in all white. The crowd then got louder than ever before. The Shaq suddenly emerged out of the main doors. He busted out moves right in the middle of the court. I’m not gonna lie, they were terrible. It was very funny though. After what felt like an eternity of Shaq’s terrible moves, the most insane moment of my life occurred. It started with the dance group vanishing back through the main doors. Shaq was then alone at halfcourt holding a basketball. I noticed something around his neck however. When I asked my dad what he thought it was, he said it was binoculars. Shaq then started looking through his binoculars scanning the entire Oracle Arena. It seemed like he was looking right at me. There was no way though. Suddenly, he gave an awkward head nod. A little boy then brought him out a microphone. Shaq yelled into the microphone, “You, in the Curry jersey!” It seemed like he was pointing right at me. Shaq then
I’ve always loved the game of basketball. The way it gets people sitting on the edge of their seats, the pressure on the court, the anxiety on the bench, the frantic coaches. But never have I experienced such an intensity of that of the Norrix vs. Central game. We are in the locker room, whooping and hollering, with 20 minutes to tip-off. I’m so excited to get on the court and hear the deafening cheers of the crowd. As I pull my jersey over my head, Haleigh approaches me.
As I opened the car door, I was immediately overwhelmed by the wet humid air that grasped me like a blanket would during the wintertime. I made my way out of the car onto the wooded walkway and was taken away by the breathtaking view. The bright yellow sun was beaming high, while the fluffy white clouds floated above me. The deep blue water glistened in the sun and this view simply could not get any better. Gulf Shores, Alabama was the place for a perfect vacation getaway, as well as a place to play beach volleyball. I made the three-hour flight from Grapevine, Texas to Gulf Shores, Alabama to play my all-time favorite sport.
