And by that i mean by being honest in our work,and not taking any kinds of short cuts.Because as students here at Wytheville Community College, we are expected to achieve above and beyond. Collage is not meant to be easy we are meant to use our minds and put them to work.It is the time to shine and show them what our generation is made up of and what we can do. This YouTube video has been recorded at the 2008 Annual Academic Integrity Conference; chosen participants were interviewed and asked about the meaning and importance of academic integrity. The video shows participants own beliefs about the topic. In my opinion all interviewees concur, with different degrees on their responses, that academic integrity is a set of ethical values that all individuals must comply with. Those set of values can be summarized as, trust, fairness, respect, honesty and responsibility.

Another university that has an academic integrity policy is the University of Rochester (UR) which is in Rochester, New York and is a private, nonsectarian, research university. UR was founded in the year 1850, has 11,060 students who must apply by its policy and is part of the University Athletic Association. Every university should follow a set of rules to maintain Academic integrity in the university. Academic integrity means to moral values to protect the talent. One should follow all the rules included in academic integrity to maintain academic standards and to safeguard talent from cheating and plagiarism. Academic integrity is being honest and fair when it comes to your academics. Academic integrity means a lot to me. In general, honesty means a lot to me. Integrity is acting on your values, and not just out of convenience. A person's ability to keep their word is one of the only things they can truly be judged on. I have been very good at keeping my word my entire life because I feel it is something that shows the character of a person. I want to be characterized as a caring and honest person. I know that seems strange because I recorded Professor Kraimer’s class. She asked us specifically not to record because of the sensitive material we cover in that class/ she wanted people to feel free to speak their mind without it leaving the classroom.

According to Ruby (2017) academic integrity is defined as “honest academic work”. It refers to the practice of submitting your own work without assistance (Ruby, 2017). If a student engages in unethical practices, such as “cheating or plagiarism” the student may be charged with an Academic Integrity violation and could face serious consequences, including failure of the course and dismissal from the university (University of West Florida, “Policy of Academic Misconduct”, 2012).

Academic dishonesty is defined as any behavior, in the student’s learning process, that violate the principles of justice and fairness, in order to achieve the goal of getting higher grade or some specific credential, for example, cheating on tests, plagiarism (Lin & Wen, 2006)

According to The Center for academic integrity (CAI) Academic integrity is a commitment that values, honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility. It is for this good cause academic honesty is something that every student should strive for. Below are statements of integrity regarding Bethel's policy and the actions I would take.

It has been said that "academic integrity is the moral code or ethical policy of academia. This basically means that anyone who holds high academic standards will restrict themselves from cheating or plagiarizing. I hold these academic standards to myself, and everyone should because any form of cheating is unacceptable. Academic integrity is essential in any scholar's life; it is especially essential in mine. I believe that all of my work should be my own thoughts and any work that comes from other sources should be credited. “According to the Center for Academic Integrity, there are five fundamental values that are center to academic integrity: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility (Grand Canyon Univiersity,2015).” In the first scenario I think it is important to remember to note that cheating is not all about plagiarism but, that unauthorized permission from an instructor to work collectively on an assignment. I know that material in our graduate studies might be more difficult than undergraduate studies and the support from other students is important. Plagiarism is a very common mistake many writers can make without even realizing it. As a college student my academic integrity is very important to me. A person’s academic integrity is the hard work and honesty that represents someone. Plagiarism is something that I believe that can be intentional or unintentional based on the circumstances for the writer.
