Transferable skills can often be described as essential, general skills which can be developed from the workplace, throughout studies and life in general, helping us to understand and deal with different types of situations (McGann, 2010).
Personal qualities I possess, would be that I can bear responsibility. By admitting responsibility, it allows me to learn from my mistakes and turn these experiences into a positive one. My self- reliance also allows me to handle things on my own without much assistance as I am comfortable and confident with doing things alone, in turn, reflecting how independent I am. Although I am fairly opinionated, I do obtain an open mind as it helps me to explore and engage with new and different ideas and perspectives,

This skill has developed through my years at school, but more so in college when I had to learn to how to meet deadlines, arrive on time for lessons and in general, driving myself to achieve specific grades in order to enter university. In addition, my exceptional communication skills make it possible for me to express my ideas to others in a clear and concise manner, enabling me to work effectively in social environments. These skills have strengthened through my job (working in a bookmakers) as I’m always engaging in conversation with customers, answering company phone calls and promoting offers, however when there’s a problem e.g. customers aren’t happy with the service, I have to inform higher positions above me and I’m able to communicate with them confidently and appropriately. The strongest transferable skill I possess, however, would be that I have excellent organization skills, allowing me to perform tasks efficiently so that they run smoothly. When I used to work as a merchandiser for River Island I had the responsibility of placing products where they needed to be, stacking shelves, and making sure I’d do that precisely and …show more content…
Armstrong (2006) suggests staying in a ‘happy mood’ can help boost one’s creativity. I need a basic understanding of numeracy and literacy which I already possess and listening skills which I can develop through my placement when listening to children read. By volunteering as a classroom assistant in a reception class, I need to have patience, especially when dealing with challenging children. Lastly, I need to have the ability to work as part of team and know how to manage groups of children. Training in safeguarding and reading was provided on my induction day which was necessary as it taught us how to and interact and deal with young children appropriately.
Sgobbi & Suleman (2015) contribute to our understanding of transferable skills stating that ‘transferable skills increase workers' employability’ and that they can also be applied to different social contexts (Bridges, 1993). The skills I will gain through my placement will hopefully help me gain a better understanding of young children as in the future I’d like to pursue a career in social work, specifically dealing with young

Furthermore, I would say I have good team working skills as I can work well in groups and play a lot of team based sports.
Planning and organizing skills, I enjoy figuring out what is required in getting a job done and working out how and when it can be done. This can be seen in how I develop a personal study timetable and managing time around work and studies.
The common professional skills necessary to succeed in the business world include speaking skills, writing skills, and problem solving skills. Employability Skills can be defined as the transferable skills needed by an individual to make them 'employable '. Along with good technical understanding and subject knowledge, employers often outline a set of skills that they want from an employee.

I believe that one skill which I have which I am strong at is my communication skills. This is because I am comfortable talking to new people and expressing new thoughts and ideas.
I have always been one to be careful and watch what I do and what others do, I am a firm believe that one can only learn from their mistakes, but if I have seen others make mistakes as well I am very good at judging the bad, and learning that I do not need to make their mistake as well. Another attribute in which I think that I have fully developed would be that of sagacity, which is keeping a good understanding of human nature, thoughtfulness, fairness, good listening, etc. I have to say I am a great listener, and I am always taking in consideration of others. I have to say that sometimes I think that I put people ahead of myself. Expeditious, I have good abilities with as well. I think that I retain and learn new information pretty easy from experience, like I had said I like to learn from my mistakes and from others. I have the willpower in which it takes to want to make a change about how I did something in order to make it improved.

The two qualities I would like to work on the most are flexibility and self-reflection because they are my worst
There are a few traits listed that I admire greatly among others, and would like to think that I hold myself or am working on perfecting those traits within my being. Three main ones would be Openness, Responsibility, and Empathy.
Communications Skills: Communications is one of my favorite skills, because it really help me to be seen as a leader. I often sent emails to my team, letting them know the status of the financial center and what are opportunities and weakness are as a team. I got a solid communication process with my coworkers and my leaders. This skill made stand out the other associates and help me develop other skills in order to be in a leader position.
The three skills I would like to work on are converting “YOU” statements to “I” statements, Responding to Criticism and Assertive Communication. I wanted to work on these particular skills as I need to be more outspoken at work with my manager and would like to improve my communication with my family and friends since they are the ones I socialize with the most.
Many people have their own Individual qualities that they think makes them out as a person. My personal own qualities that I think make me out as a person is being hard working and being confident. A great example of this is when I was working one day and it was a very busy day at work we had orders going left and right, we had the phone ringing almost every second. We had a bunch of fried chicken orders coming in and I was in the back flowering a bunch of chicken it was a big rush hour and it was a hard thing to keep up with, there was a bunch of tickets of orders being thrown at me and I didn’t know what to do for a second I was freaking out. So I just took a deep breath and told myself that I can do it, I ended up flowering at least 400
The basic learning skills will help me in my future career because they will help me to build a strong rapport with my client. I believe that all of these skills are very important in order to become an effective helping professional, but my personal favorites are open questions and summarizing. It was really interesting for me to see that just by phrasing a question differently that I could get such an extensive and more detailed answer from a client. It is also really cool to see how much clients appreciate it when they realize that you have actually been listening to and remembering everything that they have said when you summarize and reflect content back to them. These skills are also the ones that came easiest to me.
