In the poem “Casey at Bat” and story “David and Goliath,” a comparison of David and Casey shows differences and similarities. The first similarity is that Casey and David both had to try and overcome big challenges. Casey’s challenge was that he had pressure on him and he had to try and hit a homerun and win the game. And David’s problem was that he had to defeat Goliath, who was a lot bigger and stronger and mightier than him. In addition, Casey and David are also similar because they are both confident in themselves. David knew that God was going to protect him and help him defeat Goliath. He wasn’t afraid of him. Yeah, Casey was given the chance to win the game and have all the fans cheer for him and scream his name. On the other hand, David was given the chance to defeat a beast and save all of the Israelites and keep them from slavery. Casey and David are similar in some ways, but they are different in many ways too. The first difference is that David had a much bigger cost if he would’ve lost. He could’ve lost his life and cause the Israelites to be enslaved forever. wouldn’t have lost his life or caused others to lose their lives, he would lose popularity and a lot of people would think badly about him. To follow up, David and Casey are also different because Casey was a more bigger and popular guy, but David was just a small shepeard that nobody had much faith in. Casey was having his name chanted and people were happy when he stepped up to the plate. When David came along with a sling and 5 rocks, everyone thought he was crazy and was sure to be killed. Finally, Casey and David are different because David was successful, but Casey wasn’t. David overcame is challenge of fighting Goliath and defeated
