What are you most concerned about regarding the quality of the organization 's labor force?
Promote self-direction and commitment- To deal with this diversified market, companies need to tailor their approach to strategy and execution to each environment in which they operate. And because of the increasing pace of change, they need to constantly “retune” this collage of approaches. But it’s simply not feasible to manage all these shifts using traditional top-down, deliberative decision making. The ability to adjust needs to be woven into the fabric of the enterprise.
First leadership issue involved here is Hardeep “fast tracked” Maria based on leadership traits that were found during the interview process. While this is not a bad thing to do necessarily, according to the text, “The fact that an individual exhibits the right traits and that others consider him a leader does not necessarily mean that she/he will be an effective leader, successful at getting the group to achieve its goals.” In this case, Maria was not successful in getting the group to achieve its goals, however this is not necessarily her fault. There was really not much more that Maria could have done in this case. It was Hardeep that took advantage of the situation.
