When people talk about wars they refer to them as battles that were held and a number of deaths. But wars have bigger consequences. Long term issues. The American Civil War was no exception of it. The repercussions of this moment in history lasted years. No doubt it was not an easy transition. The reconstruction was not simple, after four years of war, the cities were burned, the fields didn’t produce, the economy was damaged, and the country was split. From 1865 to 1877 America lived what every family faces after rough moments, the “Reconstruction Era”.
To overcome this many changes were made. We can begin by talking about the three new amendments (13th, 14th and 15th) which are also known as the Reconstruction Amendments. With

A similar thing happened during the Reconstruction Era. The new amendments was the evaluation of former ideas, things that had to change because no longer worked. Mourning the dead with new cemeteries and giving memorial days, was the way to achieve the closing of a chapter in history. And last, the reconstruction of the productive system was the road to shape the United States of America. And like every family deals with tragedy, North and South stayed together and supported each other.
We can say that the Reconstruction Era that came after the Civil War is the time in the history of America where what we know now was developed. By this we realize that the United States was not only able to overcome this dispute, but to grow from it. This era represented a before and an after in the life of the country and it was not easy, it was not fast. Many changes were held that allowed America to stand as a united
After the American Civil War ended in 1865, Americans enter in to a period call the reconstruction. During, which the country enters a rebuilding process. It is a rebuilding not only of a war torn county repairing itself from the destruction of war, but also a rebuilding of American mindset and political thinking. One of the positive results of the Civil War is the end of slavery. At the current time this was radical idea that made the country rethink and examine some of its core beliefs.
Reconstruction was the period after the Civil War. During this period, the U.S faced many challenges such as how to reunite the North and the South and put the Civil War behind us. In addition, the nation needed to address the status of four million freed slaves by granting them citizenship, and protecting their citizenship rights. As years passed, many historians went back and forth of whether or not Congress was a success for the freedmen, or a total blowout. These pieces of evidence concludes that the Congress’ Reconstruction was unfortunately a failure for the freedmen rights.
An attempt to transform the Southern United states between the sad years of 1863 to 1877 to finally unite a kingdom that failed to racism and inequality was the idea of reconstruction. First, the three different perceptions of the Civil war came alive during reconstruction. The reconciliationist vision, the white supremacist vision, and the emancipationist vision. Then president lincoln was inclined to fix it all and invite the south back into the union, while congress tried to make African Americans feel like more than ⅔ of a person make their rights feel like an advantage to life instead of them being commandments that they have to carry and strictly follow. Lastly reconstruction led to the end of republican rule at different times in different places.
Although the 14th and 15th amendments were ratified, Congress had to step in and make militarized zones due to whites rioting. Grant had now become president over Johnson. Re-aligning powers in government.
After a war that claimed the lives of more men than that of all other wars combined, much of the country was left in ruins, literally and figuratively. Dozens of towns in the South had been burned to the ground. Meanwhile, the relations between the North and South had crumbled to pieces. Something needed to be done so that the country could once again be the United States of America, not the Divided States of America. The years from 1865 to 1877 were a time of rebuilding – the broken communities and the broken relations. This time period was known as Reconstruction. Reconstruction was a failure on the basis that the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments that were passed should have given protection and freedom to the African
Until this day, the American Civil War is still one of the most prominent wars that was ever fought in America. The war was first caused by the disagreement between the Federalists and Anti-federalists regarding on how the United States should be governed. Soon, the war began and gunshots exploded the country everyday. The war continued on for several years and in 1865, the war finally ended and America was already torn into pieces. Following the war, the Congressmen had to recover from its loss and settle the disagreements that existed in Congress in order to prevent another war from happening. Therefore, the Thirteen, Fourteen, and Fifteenth Amendments, also known as the Reconstruction Amendments were passed as an attempt to achieve peace
During the post-civil war era, America, specifically the south, was undergoing a period of reconstruction. The general goal of reconstruction was to successfully readmit the former Confederacy back into the Union as smoothly as possible, as well as enacting specific safeguards of freedmen’s liberties. The social and constitutional developments in America between 1860 and 1877 were very minor. The lack of change between pre and post civil war status could hardly be considered a revolution.
One major change was reuniting the south and the north. The southerners that fought for the Confederacy was granted amnesty. Another change is the three amendments that was passed during Reconstruction. The first is the Thirteenth Amendment, it granted freedom to all slaves, but it was passed during the Civil War so it only freed slaves after the war ended. Next, the Fourteenth Amendment granted citizenship to all men who were born in the United States including African Americans. Lastly, the Fifteenth Amendment prohibited governments from denying the right to vote for male citizens. These Amendments supported African Americans with their
The American Civil War endured four long and bloody years, from 1861-1865. Many effects of the Civil War were permanent changes for America’s history from the battle between the bluecoats and the grey. Following reconstruction and the succession of a new president after Lincoln’s death, differences of the North and South remained from 1866 on into the 1900’s. Whether it being social, economic, or political discrepancies, the growth of the nation remained divided and suffered different complications in between.
The Civil War was a lugubrious time. It consisted of destruction, death, and fighting between those who may have been close friends or family members before the war began. Even a little of these matters could be infelicitous, yet the Civil War was copious of them. However, it was not only during this disastrous war that things took a new path. The Civil War had many lasting effects, both meritable and unfortunate, that greatly impacted the United States and how it is today.
When Reconstruction began in 1865, a broken America had just finished fighting the Civil War. In all respects, Reconstruction was a time period of
The Civil War and the period of Reconstruction brought great social, political, and economic changes to American society. These changes affected the way everyone in the nation was used to living. Slavery was a huge thing that led the economy for the south, providing a free source of labor, which would soon lead to a lot of change in the southern economy when emancipated. Slavery also did not allow the African Americans to have any rights or participate in any political things. White people dominated the nation and restricted all that the African Americans were allowed to do. The emancipation of slavery led to changes in economics, politics, and brought many social changes. These changes ultimately had positive effects on the world, and these changes are still seen today as they continued into the 20th century.
Following the Civil War, the Reconstruction Era began. During this time, the southern part of the United States attempted a transformation directed by Congress from 1863 to 1877. Known for its successes and failures, the Reconstruction was a time of great pain and an infinite amount of questions. As well as many long term, short term, positive, negative, social, and political effects.
The Civil War left a country divided not only by property lines and borders but by beliefs as well. Not just religious beliefs, moral beliefs also. It left both sides, north and south struggling, trying to figure out what their next move towards reuniting the divided America was going to be. The period following the end of the Civil War would become known as the “Reconstruction Era.” An era that raised just as many questions as it did answers. A reconstruction of America that seems to carry on many decades later.
During the period of reconstruction in the U.S., from 1865-1877, there were plans put in place by Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, and Congress in hopes of a brighter future. Reconstruction took place after the Civil War occurred in the U.S. from 1861-1865. Abraham Lincoln was the President during the Civil War, and he had plans prepared at the end of his presidency because he sensed that the nation would have to be rebuilt through a reconstruction period. Once he was assassinated in 1865, his successor, Andrew Johnson had his own ideas for the country involving the issue of reconstruction. In addition to those two Presidents, Congress was active throughout the reconstruction era. All of the plans set by Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson,
