What Are The Challenges Faced By Rosa Parks

She has carved a pathway where other young, old, married, or single black women have a direction where they can follow her lead to unimaginable distances.

One of the most influential and inspirational women of all time was Rosa Parks. By one action she helped change the lives of a majority of African Americans and more importantly society as a whole. Rosa Parks sparked the attention of America when she refused to settle for the black (lower class)standards. Not only did she help change the lives for many African Americans but she helped equality for all men and women in the United States. By one brave women our world will be forever thankful.

Through it all she still excelled in high school and was an excellent basketball player, while using these things as a means of escape from the violence that surrounded her. She decided to spend the summer in New Orleans. She worked in a chicken factory as a strike breaker then found work in a restaurant making more money than she ever had before.

To achieve her desired result, Rosa Parks used multiple tactics, such as perseverance, passion and courage. Firstly, Rosa used perseverance to succeed in what she believed in, despite her difficulties. For example, the website Academy of Achievement, shares that Rosa refused to give up her seat on the public bus to a white man, despite the Jim Crow laws. She knew it was not humane (Rosa). Thus, this point proves that Rosa persevered, despite the difficulties that had occurred. Secondly, Rosa was tired of the segregation on the public transportation buses. Even though she was constantly given looks and treated differently from all the white men she continued to do her work despite what was happening.

Sojourner Truth was a strong, courageous woman. She was born into slavery and lived a difficult, unbreakable life. After many years of being a slave, she was finally freed. Sojourner faced many hardships in her life. She learned to obey her masters and she was promised by many who never kept their word.

She had a tremendous amount of courage and fearlessness. During the 1950s and 1960s, it is a known fact that discrimination was in the air. African Americans were oppressed, and could not participate in the same activities as whites due to color of their skin. The central idea of the article, “Rosa Parks: Beyond the Bus,” is that everyone should be treated equally and everyone should stand up for their rights. Rosa Parks was a really important person because she was one of the people in the Civil Rights Movement. It was unfair for Rosa because in her early life, she had to walk to school while the white children took busses not only that, but she also had to face a lot of racism. Rosa also dropped out in 11th grade to take care of her sick mother and grandmother. I think that Rosa did the right thing and stood up for her rights and everyone else's.

She showed them that they could be equal. The only difference was the color of the skin. She taught them that that wasn’t even a big difference. She fought segregation her entire life.

“The only tired I was, was tired of giving in” (Parks). I was tired, tired of being oppressed, and tired of being stepped on by the law, and my fellow people. That was the only tired i felt. The Montgomery Bus protest sparked a fire that would be felt throughout the entire country, and it was the spark that ignited the fire of the civil rights movement that shook the world. The boycott was the first of it, once light was shown on the problem, she began travelling cross country spreading information about civil rights, and sparking more peaceful protest. Rosa Parks was an important figure that changed the direction of the United States of America. She was trying to get home from work that day, but she turned into an icon for the civil rights movement, and shined a light on the unfair treatment of african americans.

She protested against giving up her seat because she believed that it was unjust that she was denied the rights that others had. A quote in the passage “ The Courage To Take Action”, states, ”You may do that.” This simple reply shows that she doesn't fear the bus driver and knows that this will not be left unsettled. This also show that she was very strong in what she believed in and wasn't taking anything from anyone. The quote from the same passage states, ”Nobody ever bossed Rosa around and got away with it.”

She was a strong and determined civil rights activist who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. She believed in rights for African Americans and had hope for the future she wanted. And when she refused to give up her seat, the bus driver had her arrested. She was later asked about her bold act, and said that “my refusal wasn’t because I was physically tired, but that I was tired of giving in.” Her attitude towards this dilemma sparked a rebellion against the oppression that was put upon African Americans and was called the Montgomery boycott. Which was when the black population of Montgomery boycotted the same bus company that racially discriminated Rosa Parks. This historical event was to be considered victorious, as 40,000 African Americans opted to walk to work instead of riding the bus, some even as far 20 miles. I believe that some of the conflict she faced have to do with shaping her character traits she had for example,when she was little watching the white kid ride the bus and her race having to walk to school gave her a rebellious but not rude trait. Another event that I believe help shaped her character is the bus event shows us she had courtesy. The other event that helped shape her character trait is when she got treated fairly the base but as soon as she got off the base she was treated unfair. First
