The Odyssey of Homer takes place in Ancient Greece; the protagonist in this epic poem is Odysseus, with whom I can relate with on a personal level. Odysseus has many long and tiring trials in his journey; although I have just started my life journey, we share some similar struggles. Much like Odysseus, I have my own goals, temptations, obstacles, and distractions in my life.
I have goals in my life, just as the great Odysseus had his own goals; Odysseus wanted to return home and slay all of the parasitic suitors, living off his fortune. My goals, on the other hand, are not so gory or dangerous, but it is also tiresome to achieve my altitudinous goals. I want to go to a nationally ranked college in business after I graduate, that is why I am

While in elementary school I was diagnosed with a type of dyslexia, which did not make school easy for me because I already had a speech impediment due to being tongue tied. I got taken out of class everyday in elementary school to work on my speech and reading skills. Most teachers just thought I was not intelligent and put me in the lowest reading groups. Third grade was a turning point for me; my teacher, Mrs. Eddy, saw that I was intelligent enough to understand the hardest material, and she did her own research online which no other teacher had done for me. She helped me come up with techniques to help me read with my dyslexia more than any other teacher or reading coach had in school. I even started to attend a speech class in Edinboro every other day after school. I eventually learned how to work around my dyslexia and speech impediment. By the time I was in sixth grade, I did not need any more special attention for my impediments, and I started to take school more seriously. Now that I am over that tedious obstacle in my life, I am always striving to be the best version of myself as I can possibly be. I have worked way too hard to be stopped by anything that stands in between me and my
There are always going to be a moment in life when it feels like giving up is the only solution. Sometimes if one digs a little deeper like Odysseus did, goals in life can be achieved. Odysseus was faced with multiple obstacles that were difficult to overcome. However, the toughest are Penelope because she tested Odysseus’s loyalty and mental strength, Scylla and Charybdis kept Odysseus from being capable of using his physical strength, and Calypso tested Odysseus’s honor to his loving relationship with his wife Penelope and his ability to separate greed from his goals in life.
Through the Odyssey, Odysseus faces many obstacles. Some of the most challenging obstacles Odysseus is faced with is when he ran into Circe, Odysseus journey back to Ithaca, and escaping Polyphemus.

Around the 1200 B.C., Odysseus was sailing the Mediterranean Sea for the purpose of reaching home. In Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, Odysseus faces many different obstacles and challenges throughout his life. Although in my life there won't be monsters and mythical creatures. There will be many different challenges and temptations. Hopefully I will overcome my challenges just as Odysseus has. With the amount of strength and courage that he did on my way to becoming a vet.
Like Odysseus, I will go through struggles on my journey to becoming a preschool teacher. Like “The Odyssey” by Homer, I will need to overcome obstacles. You might think that Odysseus’ goal to return to his homeland doesn't relate to my goal of becoming a preschool teacher, but in reality it does. I will have to go through several difficulties such as money, college, and employment.
Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus faces many obstacles. The three obstacles in the story where odyssey was the Lotus Eaters, Cyclops, and the Enchantress Circe. How does one overcome hard obstacles? Odysseus is a man that overcomes many hard obstacles in the story The Odyssey. He isn’t the typical ‘strong man’ like Hercules, but he’s more of using his intelligence to overcome hard obstacles. The Odyssey by Homer is much like the everyday journey in our lives. This novel is a great example of everyday hardships because Odysseus and his crew go through many difficult times where they have to make the right or wrong decision. Just like how my friends and I have to make very hard choices everyday at school and even on the weekends not at school. During these high school years and even after my high school career and move on to my actual life. There will still be choices that I am going to have to make that can change my life just like Odysseus and his journey trying to head back home to his family.
Myriad obstacles occur during each person’s lifetime, but each person has differing obstacles that can occur based on a variety of factors including gender, ethnicity, age, place of residence, time period born, or personal limitations. Odysseus encountered different obstacles than myself because the epic poem, The Odyssey, took place it Antient Greece during the sixth century BC, and Odysseus, a hero of the Trojan War, travelled away from home for twenty years while he encountered many hardships; however, I am a student it high school, who currently lives in a small town in the United States in the year two thousand and sixteen. Odysseus and I both live in different years and different countries, but we both encounter obstacles in our lives. After almost twenty years of attempting to return to his homeland, Ithaca, Odysseus surmounts this obstacle and safely arrives home, but upon his arrival is informed of another obstacle, the suitors, who have
In the stories The Odyssey, Divergent, and Moana, each character must face an obstacle that concerns them of making a decision which affects their own family, in order to reach their goal. In The Odyssey, Odysseus left his wife, Penelope for twenty years. Through those twenty years, Odysseus was playing pattycake with some of the goddesses that he was encountered with. While Penelope was at home, waiting for him and staying loyal to their marriage. She was even surrounded by a bunch of suitors who wanted to marry her since they all thought Odysseus was never coming back.
