Down in the depths of my fiery home The summons bell will chime Tempting you and all the earth to join our sinful kind There is a job to be done and I'm the one You people make me do it Now it is time for your fate and I won't hesitate to pull you down into this pit Wester Regalus, 63 President of Panem Sifting through the multiple essays and applications, Wester's eyes skimmed past the lines and lines of neat words. He didn't give a crap about the filled in forms—after all, the Head Gamemaker position was to be assigned by he himself. Forms and applications would give the hopefuls too much power, even if it were fleeting and false. Wester already had his final two choices: Aurelius Dens and Rya Lupus. The former was a loyal-to-the-end-but-naive person, unable to betray... or fully reach the full potential of Head Gamemaker, while the latter was a huge history buff, but a woman. …show more content…
Yet after Junius was rigging the games, perhaps he ought to assign the harsher to create the arena. And what was more harsh than the history of the nation of Panem, before it was Panem? They would pass it off as a myth, of course—citizens could definitely not know of other civilizations and the wealth they lived in, as it might have led to more rebellions and modified strategy of the rebels in the
Author, Ellen Raskins created “The Westing Game;” a murder mystery set in Sunset Towers, Westing Town, Wisconsin, 1978. The eight pairs of heirs set out to solve who murdered Samuel W. Westing in this lively, intriguing story.
The gladiatorial games were an important part of the lives of those in Pompeii. But those in Herculaneum were most likely unable to enjoy the games as home as they did not have a place to hold them. Gladiators were POW’s, freedmen, criminals, slaves and some men who had fallen on hard times who would volunteer.

The Westing Game is a mystery novel written by Ellen Raskin and published by Dutton in 1978. "The Westing Game" was published, although, author Ellen Raskin began work on it in 1976. The book is most likely written around the same time as it was published. I predicted The Westing Game was written in 1976 because the US celebration was held that year, fireworks and famous patriotic songs are important to the plot of the story.
“The wagering is rather wild and reckless in the Circus Maximus, I hear. Endless precautions are needful to keep the horses from being drugged, charioteers from being bribed to throw the races, or—if they prove incorruptible—the charioteers poisoned or even... murdered.”
Tertullian stated that he could not care less if Pagans went to the games to sin, but as more and more Romans became Christian, and still attended the games, Tertullian was outraged at their hypocrisy of belief. The killing and the spectacle of the games caused a passionate bloodlust that he felt no true Christian should ever enjoy, let alone enjoy it in the company of sinful pagans. He is also quick to outline the sinfulness of not only gambling, but gambling over the lives of the slaves and gladiators in the ring.
Research Proposal: The Felonious Role Models of Rome The majority of the contestants in the Roman ludi did not compete under their own free will. The athletes, most of which were male even though there are some exceptions, were slaves or criminals condemned to the arena. The populous Romanus had specific expectations of the standard tradition of each event, ranging from the chariot races, gladiatorial munera, the theatre, staged naval battles, animal hunts, and public executions.
With the almost no recognition of classical studies in the last part of the 20th century, most educated individuals know almost nothing about the Ancient Greeks. One exception to this general ignorance, however, is the near worldwide knowledge that the Ancient Greeks had a powerful love of competition and sporting events to test the strength and power of the individual. The Ancient Olympic Games are normally dated to 776 B.C.; but we know that Greek athletic competition had a long history before this recorded date. Homer devoted much of the Book 23 of the Iliad to an account of the games played at funerals, really sporting events that Achilles gave in honor of his dead friend, Patroclus.
It all started late on October 30th, halloween night. Doug and I were busy causing mischief as Doug started to talk,

Throughout the times of Rome, things that we call volatile and bloodthirsty were perceived as mediocre and common, for example, the Roman gladiator games. With the opening of Colosseum in 80 AD, the gladiator games began. The Romans introduced the different classes of people, through wealth and power with the spectators, or characteristics and capabilities of the competitors. It was normally slaves who fought in the games, however, sometimes the contestants would have been rivals of war, fighting
You see, the city of Panem is a vast monotony of ancient glass and marble shaped by many years of corruption and greed. When the first trace of rebellion against the government was discovered back in ancient times, the town began to collapse even more than it already had and within several years, propaganda for a more amenable town
The hosting of an athletic games is a mammoth task that requires in-depth planning and huge amounts of labor. In modern times, and arguably more so in Ancient Greece, sports must be viewed as the intersection of many eclectic parts of society. While running an athletic event on this scale, we can break the planning chronologically into three main categories that will determine success: attracting an audience, the actual logistics of the game, and judging and the distribution of prizes. Each of these topics has many facets which must all be taken into consideration for our games to successfully attract people and sustain the popularity of the sanctuary and its God.
