Fleet owners, carriers and individual truckers are all governed by federal restrictions when it comes to the weight of vehicles that operate on the Interstate Highway System, which covers roughly 50,000 miles of limited access, divided highways that traverse the country. States also set their own commercial vehicle weight standards and limits. Currently, federal standards allow for 20,000 pounds on a single axle, 34,000 pounds on a tandem axle and 80,000 gross vehicle weight. Failure to comply with these limits results in fines and unnecessary delays. Heavy-duty and semi-truck technology helps keep drivers and carriers out of trouble and in compliance with the restrictions.
CAT Scale Locators
The only way to comply with federal weight restrictions for trucks is to weigh the vehicle to assure it's compliant. This is done via a certified CAT scale where the truck and trailer drive over a scale and the axle weight and total vehicle weight are calculated. Locating a CAT scale nearby is a simple matter with an app that can be downloaded and used from any smartphone. One app, called Weigh My Truck, provided by CAT Scale, provides information about official scale locations as well as the ability to weigh and pay without the driver having to leave the vehicle. It helps streamline the process and

These scales are easy to install and can be used on any type of tractor and trailer, either individually or in tandem. The benefit of this technology is that it allows the driver to check the weight of his, or her, load anytime it's convenient from the security and comfort of the
3) The state of Kansas has enacted a new law requiring all commercial trucks driving on Kansas roads to have special mud flaps installed. These mud flaps have been proven to make driving in the rain significantly safer due to reduced mist created by trucks driving in the rain, although data regarding accidents and injuries has not yet been determined. Any truck entering Kansas must have these flaps installed or will be subject to a significant fine and delay. The cost for purchase and installation of these flaps is

When you need a fifth wheel trailer hitch to tow your full-sized family camper, the B&W Patriot 16K 5th Wheel Hitch is an American made rail mounted hitch that will take you off on your next great adventure. When you decide to take your fifth wheel off on a camping trip along the banks of a river in a national park or down to a local lake for a weekend getaway, this hitch is made to make it easy to maneuver your trailer due to an articulating head that gives you the ability to pivot from front to back and side to side. That makes parking so much easier. The side-to-side pivot is spring cushioned, and there is no metal-to-metal contact because it uses polyurethane bushings. Once your trailer is connected, you do not need to worry about its security because it is held in place by ¾-inch jaws that wrap around and provide you with a solid connection between the trailer and the truck. With its cam action handle that is easily accessed and released, disconnection is easy no matter whether you are parked level or not.

A tanker truck is also a frequently used form of specialized freight and is used to transport liquid, bulk dry cargo, and gases. They are typically incredibly large and heavy, with average weights from the 5,000 to 11,000 lbs range. In addition, they are very difficult to drive because of a high center of gravity and require a very experienced truck driver to operate. You will most often see them delivering gasoline.
However, every state’s DMV will be able to verify specific state-wide laws. For example, some states require special endorsements for trucks carrying hazardous materials while others require special endorsements for driving trucks with triple trailers. Most DMVs require people to pass an exam that covers laws, equipment and driving techniques. Similar to a driver’s license, there will probably be a vehicle inspection and driving skill demonstration.
When Winston decides to purchase the paperweight in Mr. Charrington’s junk shop, he values it because of its antiquity and that its only purpose is to be enjoyed only for its beauty, making it unlike any other object he encounters in his everyday life.
The Trucking Industry is a vital component of commerce in the United States largely because such a huge portion of all the goods transported in the United States moves by truck. “68.5 percent of all the freight transportation tonnage moved in the United States according to Costello, B. This hitch has a selection of balls on a single hitch that will fit a multitude of trailers. The balls sit on a base that can be rotated in order to bring the right size to the top in order to mount your trailer on it. When it is not in use, you will really like the fact that you can flip it around, and it will fit under your truck to keep it out of sight.
Racism has repeatedly played a controversial role throughout the course of history. This is a topic fueled by the heated arguments of the parties on both ends of the matter, may it be the cry of the victim or defense of the offender. As described in the works of two members of ethnic minorities coping with the alienation they both faced in what is supposed to be the land of diversity, Firoozeh Dumas’ “The F Word,” and Brent Staples’ “Black Men and Public Space, racism is portrayed as a dark shadow cast upon those who may not seem to conform to the “norms” of western culture to the typical American. Such stereotypes and predispositions should not hold the power to classify and simplify human beings to one
When towing a heavy load, a hitch weight distribution is a necessity. This device helps to stabilize the load, reducing trailer sway. A tow vehicle can become very dangerous if you use the wrong type of hitch.
Over-the-road, or long-haul, truck drivers carry merchandise over state lines. In some cases, these drivers travel a consistent route, but others may work a variety of routes all over the country. Some commercial drivers specialize in carrying uncommon cargo, such as hazardous materials or cars. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), jobs for drivers of heavy and tractor-trailer trucks (including commercial trucks) were projected to increase 11% during the 2012-2022 decade. In May 2013, the BLS noted that the median annual salary for the field was $38,700. Commercial truck drivers must obtain a commercial driver's license to operate vehicles over 26,001 pounds of gross vehicle weight, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (www.fmcsa.dot.gov). Drivers of vehicles transporting hazardous materials or oversized cargo must also obtain special endorsements and a commercial driver's license (CDL) in their home state. The hazardous materials endorsement involves a knowledge test as well as a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) threat
Formal: Zhang Huan became famous for using his own body as his medium. His works focus heavily on his body's ability to endure massive discomfort in order to bring his artistic concepts to life. 65 Kilograms portrays Huan being hung horizontally against the ceiling with an attached IV hanging down towards a hot plate on the ground. The name represents exactly how much Huan weighed at the time of the exhibition. As Huan hung in the air, blood dripped out of the IV onto the hotplate. As the show proceeded, 65 Kilograms became a heavier and heavier visceral experience for those in the audience. The cruelty that Huan subjected himself to was not only a visual display, but a highly olfactory one as well. Huan's blood and sweat both slowly frothed
